Nico stared at the glowing screen for a long moment before he spoke.
"How international," he said finally in a flat voice.
"International as in there's already a Bulgarian fixer offering a six-figure finder's fee to anyone who can just confirm your geographic location," Luca said, scrolling rapidly through the encrypted ledger.
"As in a heavily armed Mexican cartel account reposted the bounty two hours ago with a note that says 'whoever gets there first.' As in this isn't a syndicate vendetta anymore, Boss. It's a global market."
Mara pressed her hand flatter against her stomach; the awe-inspiring flutter she'd felt just seconds ago was now replaced by a cold, nauseating dread. The syndicate had rules, politics, territories, and lines they wouldn't cross without Council approval.
But this was something else… this was a digital hunting ground with no borders and no rules of engagement.
