"Good evening, Nico," Bruno called out, his voice echoing pleasantly through the garage. "I hear you've been having a busy night."
Nico kept his gun leveled perfectly at Bruno's chest. He squinted against the glare. "Where is my man, Bruno?"
"Oh, the driver?" Bruno waved a dismissive hand. "Taking a nap. You know I don't kill family employees unless it's strictly necessary. We are, after all, civilized men."
Bruno's eyes shifted past Nico, landing on Mara where she stood half-concealed by the pillar.
"And Mara," Bruno said, his smile widening into something genuinely monstrous. "Looking a bit pale tonight, my dear. The stress of leadership must be catching up with you. And just in time, too. Greco is calling a formal Council session on Friday. He's pushing to strip your Regency on the grounds of instability."
Bruno took another slow step forward, his cane clicking against the concrete. "And you have become very unstable, haven't you?"
