Chapter 14 - What pain am I talking about

I turned and saw tons of monsters heading straight toward me. I didn't cry. I didn't even think I was going to die today. Instead, an overwhelming, blissful happiness surged through me, knowing that these system points, these monsters, had delivered themselves directly into my path. A wide, almost manic smile spread across my face, my pulse quickening with anticipation and raw excitement.

As they approached, I drew Luminara from its scabbard. The metallic whisper of the blade sliding free sounded like a clarion call across the battlefield. I shouted at them, my voice carrying and reverberating across the air, cutting through the chaos:

"You all are coming to your deaths! Hahahahahahaha!"

I couldn't help but laugh, the thrill coursing through every vein and fiber of my being. My hands tightened around the hilt of Luminara, the familiar weight anchoring me even as my heart raced. Then suddenly, the first beast appeared—a massive boar, muscles rippling beneath bristling fur, tusks gleaming like polished bone as it lunged forward with deadly intent.

Its speed was lethal, each step pounding the earth like thunder, but mine was faster. My arm moved almost instinctively. In one flawless, fluid motion, my blade sliced through the air, cutting a line of gleaming light. The boar collapsed instantly, its body hitting the ground with a deafening thud before it even had a chance to react.

The system chimed:

Kill

Exp: 15

5 System Points

I glanced at the meager reward, feeling a flicker of disappointment. But there were thousands of monsters still ahead of me. I reassured myself: this was only the beginning.

Yet when I looked up again, the remaining monsters had stopped. They stood perfectly still, frozen in place as if an invisible force had rooted them to the earth. Their eyes, glinting with a mix of instinct and intelligence, followed me, and a shiver of anticipation ran down my spine.

I was about to provoke them, to force them forward, but before I could, something shifted in the air.

Mana began to gather. It thickened the atmosphere, turning the very air into a visible, humming energy. Some monsters condensed it in their mouths, others in their claws, hands, or entire bodies—each according to their unique nature. The world seemed to hold its breath.

Earth rose in jagged, twisting shards.

Lightning arced violently, snapping through the sky with deafening crackles.

Wind spiraled in furious, visible currents, shredding the air.

Flames roared upward, licking the ground and sky alike.

Water surged, twisting into whirling torrents that reflected the chaos.

Solaris burned with blinding, radiant intensity, like miniature suns collapsing into existence.

Then, with a collective force that vibrated through the very earth beneath me, they unleashed it all at once.

And that's when I felt it—pure exhilaration, not fear. My body trembled with overwhelming anticipation. My veins felt like they were made of electricity, my heartbeat pounding in perfect rhythm with the battlefield. I raised Luminara high and shouted, my voice almost lost in the raw roar of elemental power:

"Bring it on, fools!"

I activated my skill, Convergence Slash. Half of my remaining energy surged outward, flowing through every fiber of my being as I channeled every elemental power I possessed into one devastating strike. My blade descended like a comet made of pure, shattering light, slicing through the chaos with absolute precision.

"Damn it hurts!" I screamed as the energy tore through me, burning, freezing, and electrifying every nerve simultaneously. My body felt like it was splitting between pain and power, yet I welcomed it, embraced it.

A crescent-shaped slash formed before me, radiant, destructive, absolute. It devoured every incoming attack, cutting through earth, fire, wind, water, and light alike. Then it surged forward, tearing through monsters with relentless precision, leaving devastation in its wake.

Dozens fell. Then hundreds. The ground was littered with remnants of energy, twisted earth, and scorched, steaming bodies.

But after its hundredth kill… something changed. The slash began to shrink. Rapidly. Its power compressed inward, unstable, collapsing in on itself. Realizing an implosion was imminent, I turned and ran without hesitation.

A massive explosion erupted behind me, sending a wave of force that swept across the battlefield like a violent hurricane. Rocks tore through the air, shards of earth and debris slicing past me. I stumbled but regained balance, my eyes widening in shock.

Where devastation should have been… there was something entirely new.

A pond had formed. A shimmering, glowing pond of condensed mana, radiating pure energy into the air. The surface rippled with reflections of power, glowing faintly with every pulse of residual elemental energy.

The system's voice echoed:

"Oh wow, host. You've made a pond of mana with that slash of yours. Impressive. The mana is shallow, but the purity is off the charts, expected, of course, from your energy. Host, don't pay attention to wha—"

Before it could finish, lightning struck my back. My body stiffened instantly, paralysis coursing through my nerves like molten metal.

That's when I realized—not all of them were dead.

I looked up, and even I froze. From the sky, new monsters descended. They didn't fall—they arrived. They landed with precision, terrifying in their majesty.

The first were beasts that looked like, reminiscent of Ignis Drakes but far more formidable. Their bodies were cloaked in radiant yellow fur that shimmered like molten gold under crackling lightning. Electricity danced across their muscular forms, snapping through the air like jagged spears. Their eyes glowed like living storms, cold, calculating, predatory. When they landed, the ground shook violently, cracks spreading outward as the force of their land discharged into the earth.

Then came the others. Massive feline predators. Their crimson fur shimmered like molten fire, while the underside of their bodies was stark, radiant white. Their claws flexed, cutting through the air with metallic whispers. Their golden eyes burned with unrelenting focus, locked onto me with predatory intent. Every sinew, every motion screamed death. They were not just monsters. They were hunters.

Pain surged through me, anger rising in tandem. My body trembled, not from fear, but from fury. My face flushed red, veins pulsing as I forced my hand forward, gathering the last of my remaining mana.

Then I unleashed everything:

Sylthar distorted the air itself.

Nihrya devoured everything in its path.

Umbra swallowed vision, leaving uncertainty and doubt.

Lumen Flux flared, blinding all who looked.

Solis Vitae radiated overwhelming life-force, scorching all it touched.

Ventus Gale spiraled violently, compressing the air into a deadly sphere.

Ignis Inferna condensed into concentrated, blazing fire.

Aqua Vitae Flow froze into razor-sharp icicles, glinting ominously.

Terra Essence fused into jagged spikes, erupting violently from the ground.

Aethral Pulse synchronized every element, amplifying all forces around me, binding them to my will.

Before I could fully launch them, they struck first. My paralysis faded just in time. I moved, barely evading strikes that could have torn me apart.

The beasts tried to scatter, but the battlefield was too small, and their numbers worked against them. Just like me, they were trapped in the inevitable collision.

A fireball slammed into my back and left hand. Lightning tore across my spine. Pain exploded through my body like molten fire. Then everything detonated in a cataclysmic storm: wind, fire, earth, lightning—all colliding in violent chaos. Rocks slammed into my body, flames licked my skin, electricity sent shivers through my nerves. Every second felt eternal, torturous.

Then… silence.

The dust settled. Slowly, I looked around. No movement. No monsters. Every last one was gone.

My body gave out. I collapsed, adrenaline leaving as exhaustion swept through me, heavy and numbing.

"Hahahahahahahaha… I killed all those monsters… they thought they could beat me…" I said, breath ragged, chest heaving.

The system responded immediately:

"Good fight, host. There were many things you could have done better. You are proud of defeating these weak things—in fact, 'weak' is an overstatement. But still, you did well."

I laughed, despite the pain, despite my dry throat. Then I paused. "…Huh?" I frowned slightly. "What pain am I talking about?"

Confused, I forced myself up and began checking my body—my hands, arms, back, everywhere. No injuries. Nothing.

"I'm… perfectly fine."

My eyes narrowed as I spoke to the system, suspicion threading my voice:

"Hey system… how did my injuries heal?"

The reply came instantly:

"You're not human, that's the first thing. Second, this body has been used by your past self in many battles. Third, your bloodline and physique are tied to exponentially fast healing."

I nodded slowly, absorbing the information. Then I turned and began walking toward Tarya's house.

As I walked, I asked the system, "I've got a question. When I first looked at the stats, I asked why my bloodline and physique were not visible. So this time, I'm going to ask—who the hell are my parents, and why are my bloodline and physique tied to healing?"

I arrived at Tarya's house, entered, removed my tattered and burnt clothes, and went to the bath. I turned on the shower and started scrubbing myself clean.

Afterward, I sat in the bath and asked, "Tell me now,why are my physique and bloodline tied to healing?"

The system answered:

"Healing is just one of many perks from your bloodline and physique. Remember the mana pond you made?"

I nodded.

"Well, your hands should have been destroyed from trying to mix opposing elements by force, and the implosion was proof of that," it continued. I stared at my hands, eyes wide.

As I calmed down, it added, "The reason is simple. I can tell you, but I'll explain later."

I shook my head and exited the bath.
