Chapter 14 - The Night Before

Defeating the "Tuner" is no easy task, even if it was just a fake that Adam retrieved from the well before it dissipated; it was still a formidable enemy for Lobotomy Corporation.

After slaying the "Tuner," Ye Lan fell into a coma before he could even exit the assimilation state. Although his injuries had been treated during his assimilation with the Smiling Mountain of Corpses, the parts that had been replaced from the corpses gradually lost their effectiveness after Ye Lan ended the assimilation.

Those useless parts were nothing more than rotting, black, putrid corpse fragments. Not only could they not replace Ye Lan's lost body tissues, they even infected his wounds, causing him further harm.

But for Ye Lan, the most serious injury was not his physical damage, but his mental one.

The assimilation of multiple Aleph-level abnormalities has put severe pressure on his mind. The distorted emotions and memories of several abnormalities have become intertwined with his own emotions and memories. It can be said that when he can awaken depends entirely on when he can distinguish which emotions and memories truly belong to him.

But at least, after he fell into a coma, several anomalies that he had been connected with through final observation spontaneously returned to the containment chamber. This meant that the staff who arrived later only found the unconscious Ye Lan, allowing his little secret to remain hidden for a while longer.

The employees who arrived in time retrieved the unconscious Ye Lan and took him to the main regeneration reactor in the security department. In order to cure this best employee who had previously asked Angela about the treatment effects of the regeneration reactor, Netzach personally presided over Ye Lan's treatment surgery.

However, Ye Lan's abnormal mental state was not a problem that Netzach could directly solve. In the end, he could only inject a large amount of mental pollution neutralizing gas into Ye Lan's treatment chamber, hoping that he could rely on his own strength to break free from the multiple pollutions that Netzach had never seen before.

Because of Ye Lan's unprecedented and unique situation, all the Sephirahs, including Binah, came to his treatment room one after another to inquire about his condition. Even Ayin had never experienced such a scene.

In other words, Supervisor A is still sorting through his memories and hasn't been able to remember who he is yet. Otherwise, even Ayin, who has let go of everything, would probably feel a little jealous upon learning this.

But for Ye Lan at this moment, nothing in the outside world mattered. In the endless dream world, he sometimes transformed into a small bird in a boundless dark forest, and sometimes into a huge monster with a terrifying body, devouring all the creatures in the forest.

Sometimes he felt as if he were embracing his companions, continuing to increase their numbers in a state of boundless peace. Other times he felt as if he were nothing but a mass of flesh and blood, and that everything around him did not belong to him.

As this dream unfolds, he is constantly changing his identity, and the knowledge and feelings of those otherworldly beings with whom he had conducted the [final observation] are experienced by him in turn during this dream.

In the end, he sank into chaos. All the emotions and memories from the otherworldly entity gradually dissipated as he sank into this illusion, leaving only his truest self in the final chaos.

"who I am?"

Ye Lan, who had just woken up from her daze, asked.

"I am Ye Lan..."

The chaos from all directions answered him.

Where am I?

Ye Lan asked.

"I am in my heart..."

The chaos from all directions continued to answer him.

How do I get back?

He continued to ask.

"As long as I want to go back..."

Then, Ye Lan opened her eyes.

He was currently soaking naked in a huge jar filled with some kind of liquid. Through the transparent outer shell of the jar, Netzach and the other Sephirahs could be seen standing outside observing him.

Seeing that he had woken up, Netzach pressed a button, and the liquid in the tank poured out through a drain at his feet. Ye Lan, who had fallen back to the ground of the tank, was about to speak when he was interrupted by the object in his hand.

He was holding a ring that seemed to shimmer with starlight tightly in his hand; before he even realized it, he almost had it embedded in his palm.

"What's this?"

Although Ye Lan didn't know what the ring was, a feeling from the bottom of his heart made him put it on, as if the ring were a part of him.

"So, do you still remember who you are?"

As soon as Ye Lan left the tank, before he could even put on his clothes, Netzach began bombarding him with questions.

Numbed by his repeated questions, Ye Lan turned to him and said, "zh...zhu...Manager, Manager!!"

"Huh!? Huh!! Oh no... Oh no, quickly get him back to the treatment pod!"

Ye Lan originally just wanted to bluff him, but she didn't expect that Netzach would actually be frightened by his less-than-stellar performance, and even grab him and try to put him back into the treatment pod.

Yesod, who hadn't had many opportunities to appear before, grabbed Netzach's hand and stared at him helplessly, saying, "That's enough, Netzach. I think you're the one who should go into the treatment pod. Ye Lan was just trying to scare you because you were asking so many questions."

"Ah...is that so?" Netzach breathed a sigh of relief and looked at Ye Lan, saying, "You really scared me to death. I was afraid that I would try my best but fail to save you..."

"Netzach, thank you so much this time."

"Oh, this is nothing..."

"No, I really should thank you. Wipe your box clean; you've spilled all the endorphins."

"Ah... this is where we've been exposed."

Netzach awkwardly grabbed some tissues from the side and wiped the endorphins off his body. These powerful psychoactive drugs, in addition to inducing hallucinations and euphoria, can also help people concentrate when used in moderation.

In order to treat Ye Lan, Netzach, who had already quit the drug, injected himself with it again.

"Yesod, you called me in just now because you saw these endorphins, right..."

"snort!"

Sephirah, with the purple Yesod logo on the box, crossed her arms around her chest and turned her head to one side.
