Chapter 7 - CHAPTER 7 " THE LAST CHOICE"

The morning after the hospital incident felt strangely normal.

Sunlight entered through the windows of Sourav's house as if nothing unusual had

happened the previous night. But inside his mind, the corridor still existed—the

flickering lights, the vanishing mirror, and the whisper that said,

"I'm not alone

anymore.

"

Today was his birthday.

Two days ago, Raghav had died. Oficially, the police declared it a brutal murder

involving a heated iron rod. But Sourav had seen something else. He had seen Raghav

alive—inside a mirror—begging for help.

"Bhai, help me! He looks like you… smiling… but he has a knife!"

And then a child's voice had whispered,

"Let's play hide and seek…

"

Now, on his birthday morning, Sourav stood in his room, eyes closed, whispering,

"Please don't kill him… who are you… why do you look like me…

"

Neha, his sister, entered and tried to calm him. She reminded him that today was

meant to be happy. By evening, the house was decorated with lights, balloons, and

laughter. Friends arrived. Music played. For a moment, everything felt normal.

During the cake cutting, Sourav noticed something strange—the reflection in the

knife showed a small pale hand holding it with him. When he blinked, it was gone.

Later, the power went out. Sourav went to check the fuse. Near the fuse box, he

saw it again—the black-framed mirror from the hospital.23

Inside it, he saw himself smiling. Behind him stood the child.

"Papa… I killed him,

" the child said calmly.

"Now will you give me your hand? I can't

sleep without it.

"

The child began to grow older, his smile widening unnaturally, eyes turning black.

Suddenly the mirror vanished when Sourav looked away.

The lights returned. The party continued as if nothing had happened.

Neha later heard a child's voice calling her from the guest room. Inside, she found the

same black-framed mirror—but instead of a reflection, it showed a swirling darkness.

She stepped closer.

Her hand passed through the surface.

She was pulled inside.

In the mirror world, she saw Raghav's severed burned hand lying on the ground.

Then Raghav himself appeared—smiling.

"You thought I was dead?" he asked.

Before she could react, a knife pierced through her abdomen from behind.

She turned.

It was Raghav again—but this one had completely black eyes.

Behind him stood the grown version of the child.

The loop closed.

Back in the real house, the guest room door slowly shut on its own.

Upstairs, Sourav suddenly opened his eyes.

Somewhere in the house, a whisper echoed softly:

"Papa…

"24

"This is not possible… absolutely not.

"

Sourav woke up suddenly, breathing heavily. He found himself lying on his bed.

For a moment, everything seemed normal. Then he noticed a letter placed beside him.

It was from his sister, Neha.

The letter read:

"Dear Teddy,

I hope you wake up soon.I've made breakfast for you — pleaseeat it.

I might be a littlelatetoday. And before you ask whereI'm going,

I'm meeting Uncle Dr. Georgeforsome work.

Yourloving sister.

"

Sourav smiled faintly while finishing the letter.

Just then, the doorbell rang.

As he stepped down from the bed and walked forward, he suddenly lost balance and

fell. A sharp pain shot through his leg. Confused, he looked back and noticed a deep

injury on his thigh.

Before he could understand anything, a shadow approached him holding a machine.

Everything turned dark.

He woke up again.

He was back in his bed. Calm. Safe.

The bell rang again.

This time nothing happened when he stood up. He walked to the main door and

opened it.

A girl with brown curly hair stood there.

"Hello, Sourav. Is your sister home?" she asked softly.

He was surprised.

"No… she's not. How do you know my name?"

"I'm Shivani. Neha's friend.

"

They talked for a while. She revealed that it was his birthday. Sourav was shocked

— he had forgotten.

Soon Neha returned home. There was laughter, warmth, and birthday

preparations.

Neha gifted him a suit. He hugged her tightly.

Evening arrived. The house filled with guests, music, and celebration.

But in his room, while getting ready, Sourav heard a whisper:

"Happy birthday, Papa.

"

He turned — no one was there.24

When he looked into the mirror, for a brief second, he saw himself standing with a

child…

and Raghav beside them.

He fell to the floor.

Moments later, everything seemed normal again.

The party continued. Cake was cut. Smiles were shared.

Then the lights went out.

While checking the electrical board, Sourav heard a familiar voice.

"Brother… how are you?"

Raghav stood before him.

They embraced.

But Raghav spoke of a child from the past — a memory Sourav denied.

Suddenly, chaos erupted. Sourav collapsed into unconsciousness. Meanwhile, Neha

searched for him. Through a window, she saw a strange figure at a distant

building.

Moments later, she found Sourav unconscious near a mirror that seemed

distorted. When she touched it, she found herself in a broken version of their home.

A smiling child stood there. Before she could react, she was attacked from behind by an

unknown figure.

Back in reality, Sourav regained consciousness. He saw blood spreading across the

mirror — and Neha's reflection trapped within.

In anger and fear, he destroyed the mirror and called an ambulance.

Neha was rushed to the hospital.

The surgery lasted hours.

At 4 AM, the doctor said,

"Your sister is safe.

"

The doctor revealed himself — Uncle Dr. George. Relief washed over Sourav.

Later, he received a work call. Life seemed normal again.

But elsewhere, Dr. George encountered something impossible —

a mirror on the road… and a child standing within it.

A tragic accident followed.

Back at the hospital, Shivani handed Sourav another letter.

It read:

"I am coming to you.

"

Sourav

"No way"
