Chapter 12 - Chapter 12: The Assault Force Can Enter

Lin Xuan stood on the second-floor balcony of the gymnasium, feeling refreshed. Looking down at the survivors whose faces were filled with terror and confusion, he lightly tapped the air, and the 100 biomass points he had accumulated for so long instantly dropped to zero.

[Ding! 100 biomass points have been deducted.]

[Summoning: Marine Corps, Reinforced Company, Strength: 100 men.]

[Distributing weapons: 30 Riflemen, 30 Squad Automatic Weapon Gunners, 20 Grenadiers, 20 Rocket Gunners.]

[System Prompt: Since the host has spent 100 biomass points in the system for the first time, a special "Strong Entrance" service is gifted: 10 Armored Personnel Carriers have been deployed to the campus perimeter. Please receive them.]

Lin Xuan pulled a sleek, black tactical radio from his chest and pressed the talk button. He intended to show off a bit.

"Assault force is clear to enter, over."

As Lin Xuan's voice fell, the roar of engines suddenly erupted from the previously dead-silent campus perimeter. It was the simultaneous roar of ten multi-ton steel beasts.

"Boom—!"

The rickety iron gate at the school entrance was sent flying by the lead armored vehicle. The massive impact instantly crushed several zombies on the roadside into meat paste, splashing black, putrid blood all over the roadbed. Immediately after, dense gunfire rang out like firecrackers; it was the.50 caliber heavy machine guns atop the armored vehicles firing wildly.

"Rat-tat-tat-tat-tat-tat!"

Large-caliber bullets tore through the zombies blocking the road, sending severed limbs flying through the air. The ten desert-camo-painted APCs formed a torrent of steel, roaring as they charged onto the campus's main road.

This scene completely shocked the entire campus.

In the teaching buildings, dormitories, and library... the teachers and students who had been hiding in dark corners, so desperate they were ready to commit suicide, all rushed to the windows.

"Holy crap, that's incredible! Look! It's the army! The army is here to save us!" a boy screamed at the top of his lungs, tears streaming down his face.

"Damn right! Just like that, kill those bastards!"

"Help! I'm here! Save me!" Girls waved colorful bedsheets, trying desperately to catch the convoy's attention.

"My dad is the vice mayor! Save me first! I have money! I have plenty of money!" A disheveled rich kid leaned over his dormitory balcony, howling frantically.

However, the convoy didn't even slow down. The fully armed soldiers sat inside the jolting vehicles, their cold gazes sweeping past the windows where people were crying for help. Their muzzles remained pointed forward, showing not a shred of pity. In their eyes, these wailing civilians were nothing more than background noise; they had only one objective—the gymnasium on campus.

"Screeeech—!!!"

The ear-piercing sound of brakes rang out in the open space outside the gymnasium. The ten APCs fanned out in a semi-circle, their doors slamming open. One by one, Marines dressed in digital camouflage tactical gear, wearing ballistic helmets and goggles, filed out in quick succession.

"Go! Go! Go!"

"Secure the perimeter!"

A hundred soldiers quickly dispersed. Machine gunners set up positions on the spot, rocket gunners took the high ground, and riflemen formed a tactical perimeter, surrounding the entire gymnasium so tightly that not a drop of water could leak through. That professional, murderous atmosphere sent the survivors inside the gym—who had just been worrying about being eaten by zombies—into a different kind of shock.

"Damn! This is insane! This firepower... are they going to eat the zombies alive?" A survivor leaned against the window, watching the twenty black heavy machine guns, trembling with excitement.

"I told you, the authorities definitely wouldn't just ignore us!" A PE teacher puffed out his chest complacently, looking at those around him. "So these soldiers are here to protect us. Looks like our lives are saved!"

Standing behind Lin Xuan, Chu Wenhai let out a disdainful snort, a red light flashing in the electronic eye beneath his metal mask. "Hmph, a bunch of rookies who can only rely on cover and firepower... Commander, we have to stay with these hot-blooded idiots again. I hope they don't develop any of that useless sympathy when they see civilians being slaughtered."

Karen Parker was currently sitting in her temporary lab, staring blankly at several bottles of zombie blood samples provided by Lin Xuan. The world-shaking commotion outside didn't seem to disturb her at all; she was just frantically typing code on her laptop, her short blonde hair shimmering coldly under the desk lamp. To her, as long as it didn't affect her research, it made no difference whether the army or aliens arrived outside.

Lin Xuan walked down from the balcony. Miller and Reed were already waiting at the stairwell with several Platoon Leaders.

"Commander! The First Reinforced Company of the Marine Corps reporting for duty!" Miller stood at attention and saluted, his voice booming.

Lin Xuan nodded, his gaze sweeping over these murderous soldiers. "From now on, Reed and Miller, you will be in charge of commanding this company and executing specific combat missions. Chu Wenhai, you are their overall Commander, responsible for formulating tactics and handling all 'tricky' troubles. And I am the supreme Commander here."

Just then, a knock sounded at the door. "Knock, knock, knock."

"Come in."

Then, the sound of heavy tactical boots striking the floor broke the discussion. A Marine soldier walked in quickly.

"Reporting, Commander. Some people are causing trouble. About ten survivors have gathered and are clamoring to see you. Someone is inciting the crowd, saying... they demand guarantees for their resource distribution and protection, and they want to establish a so-called 'Survivor Management Committee' to share decision-making power."

Lin Xuan narrowed his eyes. He understood what these survivors were trying to do.

"A management committee? Sharing decision-making power?" Lin Xuan let out a contemptuous laugh.

"It seems I've been showing them too much kindness."

Lin Xuan pointed to the survivors still causing trouble outside, his tone devoid of any warmth. "Make these survivors understand that you aren't here for disaster relief. Company Commander, take your men and lock up those troublemakers. Tell them that if they want to live, they have to follow the rules."

"Yes, Commander!"

With the issuance of Lin Xuan's order, these hundred Marines were transformed into the shackles in Lin Xuan's hands. They began to roughly push and shove the survivors who were trying to approach to protest or curry favor, shattering their illusions with the butts of their rifles.

The gymnasium officially became a restricted military zone.
