Chapter 2 - Chapter 2 The New Beginning

When I opened my eyes, the first thing I heard was crying.

Wait… let me rephrase that.

I was crying.

The realization struck me as I felt warm arms holding my tiny body. Looking up, I saw a woman with long black hair cascading over her shoulders. Her eyes were gentle—soft, like moonlight. Beside her stood a tall man with striking red hair and a firm posture. His presence was imposing, yet his gaze as he looked at me held something restrained… something careful.

As I stared at them in confusion, memories rushed into my mind.

I died.

And now…

I'm alive again.

Reincarnated.

Given a second chance.

The absurdity of it should have terrified me. Instead, I smiled.

The woman gasped softly.

"Look, Erick… Aiden is smiling. Isn't she adorable?"

Her voice was warm, almost melodic. My father—Erick Valemont—gave a small nod. Though his expression remained disciplined, I didn't miss the faint curve at the corner of his lips before it disappeared.

Aiden.

My name.

The same name I had in my previous life.

Coincidence?

Or fate playing tricks on me?

Before I could think deeper about it, exhaustion overtook me, and I drifted back to sleep in my mother's arms.

As days passed, I learned more about this new life.

My mother, Marie Valemont, was a gentle and affectionate woman. She visited my room every morning without fail, brushing my hair with delicate fingers as if I were made of glass.

My father, Erick Valemont, was a knight—one who hunted monsters beyond the kingdom's borders. He visited less often, but when he did, he would quietly stand beside my crib, watching me as though memorizing my face before leaving again.

I was also assigned a personal maid.

Her name was Yuki—a petite girl with short brown hair and a surprisingly expressive face. Despite her youthful appearance, she was sharp-eyed and far more observant than she let on.

My days fell into a predictable cycle.

Eat. Sleep. Practice walking.

Repeat.

I tried escaping the room several times, determined to explore this world early—but each attempt ended with Yuki catching me mid-waddle. She would simply laugh and carry me back, amused by my "adorable rebellion."

Eventually, as I lay back in my crib, staring at the ceiling, only one thought echoed in my mind:

I wish I could grow up faster.

With that silent sigh—far too mature for a baby—I closed my eyes and surrendered to sleep.
