Chapter 4 - Who am I?

{The countryside }

"I think he's waking up." A voice came from the room opposite, and a young lady rushed in to see the young man she rescued opening his eyes. He was trying to make sense of his present environment.

"Where.... where am I?" The young man asked.

"You're at a very safe place young man." A man's voice answered him.

"I don't understand, who are you people?" He asked.

"My name is Audrey, and my daughter rescued you from a fire scene. You were helpless on the ground, so she brought you here." The old man explained.

"How long have I been here?" He asked.

"A long time, more than 3 years. According to Zailah you were in comi."

"Coma, dad." She corrected him.

"Yes, coma. We hope you don't mind, your face was badly injured so she performed a surgery on your face."

The man touched his face and that was when he realised his face was bandaged.

"Can it be removed?" The young man asked.

"Yes, it can. Do you want me to remove it now?." Zailah asked.

"Yes please, it's hot in here."

Zailah moves closer to where he laid and carefully unwrapped it, from the first time she saw him on the ground she had pity on him but taking care of him for the past two years had made her fallen for him.

"Here's a mirror." She said handing him one.

He looked at his face but couldn't recognise himself, apart from that he wondered who he was and where he came from.

"So young man what's your name?" Zailah's father asked, hoping he would remember.

"I—I....I don't know." He replied disappointed.

"You don't know your name?" Zailah asked to be sure.

"I think so."

"Just relax ok." She said to him before turning to her father. "Dad, I'll be right back."

"Alright dear."

Zailah rushed out, leaving the door open.

"Isn't she a sweet girl?" The old man said to no one in particular.

"You said I've been here for more than three years?" The young man asked.

"Yes, young man. I initially thought you were dead, but Zailah never gave up." The old man answered.

He sniffed himself, as if realising something. "How come I don't smell?"

Mr Audrey laughed. "Zailah had been the one cleaning you up."

"Zailah cleaned me? She didn't see anything right?"

"I'm sure she saw what she needed to see." Mr Audrey answered.

"Everything down there?"

"Don't over think it, give me a few minutes let me help you with something to eat." Mr Audrey said and left.

The young man sat down and looked at himself properly in the mirror.

"Who am I? And where do I come from?"
