Chapter 43 - C043 : Finding A Feeling

Around the same time, at the very top of the tower at the center of the city, Freya sat in a comfortable throne like chair, nude, watching the people in the city below. Though, her eyes were focused on a point, Astraea familia. It was there she saw two souls she'd never seen before, both so close to each other in luminescence, and yet had a transparency to them unlike anything else. She couldn't choose between them, both souls individually filled her with pleasure.

"Ottar, find out who just joined Astraea's familia." Freya ordered, swirling her wine, striking a seductive pose. However, Ottar remained silent. "What's wrong, Ottar?"

"That's where those two went." Ottar answered, still a little shaken up despite his warrior persona.

"It's not them my love has touched… Rather the other two that joined with them." Freya explained, which led to Ottar relaxing slightly.

"I will do as you command, Lady Freya." Ottar finally answered, bowing slightly, and then departed from the room.

"He's really shaken up about that defeat. It's true that Ceraunius really did a number on him, and Braver both. Even so, I can't bring myself to hate him for it. That beating gave my Ottar 30 points in his vitality, if anything, it would be for the best if things like that continued to happen." Freya explained to the sole remaining person in the room, Horn.

Horn stood there joined in her goddess' nudity. "Lady Freya, the bath is ready as you requested."

"Thank you, Horn. So, what do you think about them?" Freya smiled, walking over with gentle steps, as if she was gliding.

"No one is as beautiful as you, Lady Freya." Horn explained. From there the two took a very long bath together.

The Loki familia's home, Ais woke up with a start. She felt something different, and looked around to see where she was. "The room is fine, so what is it?" She murmured, frantically looking around, practically coming to tears in a desperate attempt to search for the source of the feeling of immense warmth she'd only felt in her dreams. "Where is it?" Then it seemed to grow a little stronger for a few minutes, before receding ever so slightly coming to a stop.

Ais, in her fit, put herself together in frantic fashion. And attempted to leave the house on her own. Running as fast as she could to go in search of the source of this feeling. However, a particular mage stopped her in her tracks.

"Ais, what are you doing? Where are you going in such a rush? You're all a mess, just look at your hair. Come, talk to me, I'll listen while brushing your hair." Riveria explained, struggling to hide the turmoil in her own mind at the moment.

Ais started crying like she'd never find answers here, but there's no way she could escape from Riveria, and so she still tried to do so, only to be picked up like the problem child she is, and forced to sit down at a table for breakfast, and eat, while Riveria brushed her hair, and listened to what was wrong.

"I feel mama." Ais started, with barely comprehensible language, thanks to a compounding effect of the food, and crying.

Some people started giggling at the comment until Riveria gave them a look that could probably kill them if they weren't careful. "Your mama?"

"Mhmm. Somewhere… Closer, then further." She stopped crying, but the sniffling didn't stop. She may be 11 now, but her mind was still that of a young child.

"That's odd… You felt it? I wonder if it's, no, it couldn't be." Riveria was about to say something stupid but stopped, shaking her head as if it was too much.

"That man, and lady? I wonder if they know mama?" Ais said through the sniffles.

"Who?"

"The ones that came here and beat up Finn. He felt… Kind. She felt… Warm."

"Ceraunius, and Gamelia?" Riveria asked, finishing with the brush, and comb.

Just then, a rather ill timed comment from a werewolf was incoming… He clicked his tongue. "Those two, back in the city already. I'm still tingly all over just thinking about that day."

"Huh? They're here?" Ais wondered, with a sternly curious expression, the effectiveness of which tripled against Bete as a face from his memory overlapped.

"Yes, they're here, probably heading to the guild at some point today."

Ais went back to eating, finishing up all of her food. Then wiped her mouth clean. "I need to use the bathroom." She said, hopping down from Riveria's lap, and then pattering off.

"You idiot wolf!"

"What?!"

"She's going to look for those two now."

"Huh? Why would she do something like that?"

Riveria let a heavy inwardly sigh come out for a moment before standing up to go after Ais, despite the memory of what happened last time. She just couldn't leave her to face those two alone.

…

Down the street, a blonde-haired child moved, she couldn't decide whether to walk, or to run. The reason for this was the spacing of Jagamarukun stands… Every time she came to the idea of running, a new one would pop up, each with their own slight variations, so she couldn't help herself, and had to stop at each of them for the sake of her comfort.

She'd been walking the path she knew led directly to the guild, and was the fastest way there. As she grew closer, the strength of that warm feeling grew stronger and stronger. However, about half way there, she realized it wasn't her mother, nor was it one person. Rather the source of the feeling radiated from two sources. Giving off a somewhat familial feeling, like a guardian or a knight of sorts.

She arrived at the guild and walked inside, still following the feeling, she went to a door and knocked on it, first gently. Then the feeling of desperation to see who it was, crept in and she started pounding on the door. Barely keeping her feelings to herself, she sniffled, and pounded the door again, only for the door to open revealing the man who turned Finn into a pancake.

Ais stared up into the ridiculously tall man's eyes, she noticed the warm smile on his face… It was comforting, more comforting than anything anyone else had ever done for her. Before she broke down right there, he opened the door a little more, and Ais walked inside.
