Chapter 7 - The hidden truth

They hid beneath the city—in tunnels forgotten by time.

Kael finally told her everything.

The Veil was weakening.

Worlds were colliding.

Creatures from countless realms were slipping through.

And the Wardens?

They weren't protecting people.

They were collecting crossers like her.

Experimenting on them.

"You're not the first huntress," Kael said.

Her stomach turned.

"Where are they?"

He didn't answer.

They tracked the Wardens to a hidden facility beneath the city.

What Ariya found there made her blood run cold.

An arena.

Cagers full of creatures from other worlds.

People like her—forced to fight.

One woman with glowing tattoos.

A man who controlled fire.

A child who could move objects without touching them.

Entertainment for the elite.

Rage burned through Ariya.

"We free them," she said.

"That's suicide," Kael replied.

She notched an arrow.

"I've faced worse."

They attacked at midnight.

Arrows flew.

Explosions rocked the walls.

Kael cut through guards with unnatural speed—faster than human.

"You're not from here either," she realized mid-fight.

"No," he said, eyes flashing silver. "I'm not."

Together they broke the cages.

Chaos erupted.

Creatures and crossers surged into the tunnels.

Freedom.
