"She has significant blood loss, so I want continuous monitoring. Keep a close eye on her blood pressure, heart rate and hemoglobin, and repeat the necessary laboratory work as soon as she's settled. If her pressure drops unexpectedly or there is any indication of renewed bleeding, contact me immediately."
The ICU nurse nodded. "Understood, Doctor."
The doors opened, and the bed was carefully pushed out of the operating theatre. For the first time in nearly three hours, the red light above the entrance went dark.
The operation was over.
Camilla had survived.
But Dr. Romano knew better than to describe that as the end of the danger. Surgery had stopped the immediate threat, but the next several hours would be critical as her body responded to the blood loss, the trauma and the strain of the procedure.
