The air in the courtyard suddenly grew heavy. The chilling image Adiraj had painted in his mind pushed Rudra's curiosity to its absolute peak.
Rudra looked directly into Vikram's eyes and asked his most pressing question: "But... why would every member of such a massive guild and their SS-Rank leader travel to India just for an ordinary S-Ranker's birthday? What is their true motive?"
Vikram's face, which had been that of a gentle elder brother until now, instantly hardened. He took a deep breath, his eyes scanning the quiet courtyard as if checking for eavesdroppers.
"Rudra," Vikram began in a low, somber voice. "You already know about the G.D.A. (Global Dungers Association) and the various national associations that formed when the Hell Gates first opened."
Rudra nodded. This was common knowledge.
"But," Vikram's voice dropped even lower, carrying the weight of a dark secret, "you likely don't know how these Top Guilds gained absolute authority and power over governments. Who created this system, and why? 99% of the world's dungers and the newer guilds are blind to the truth. They have simply become cogs in a machine they don't understand."
Rudra's mental circuits fired rapidly. He listened with clinical focus.
"Why do you think the N.D.A.I. goes into extreme High Alert just because the world's Number 1 guild visits?" Vikram looked at Adiraj for a moment before turning back to Rudra. "It isn't just VIP protocol, Rudra... it is fear. Because we know something that the rest of the world doesn't."
Raghav stood perfectly still, his usual humor replaced by a grim silence. It was as if this truth was a physical weight pressing down on their hearts.
Vikram stepped closer, delivering the final blow that made Rudra's skin crawl.
"The world thinks we call the leader of the Apex Syndicate, Mason Steele, a 'Monster' because his MP exceeds 20 Billion," Vikram's voice carried a trace of genuine terror. "But that isn't the truth. 20 Billion MP is just a number. The S-Rankers and the Top Guilds at the peak... we have seen something with our own eyes. A horrific reality that no ordinary person or dunger has even a hint of."
Rudra's breath hitched. What did they see? What is Mason Steele's true power? Where does this authority come from? These questions swirled in his mind like a storm. He needed the truth, right here and now.
But before Rudra could ask his next question, Vikram forced a soft, familiar smile back onto his face.
"Anyway, forget all that for now," Vikram said, cutting the conversation short. "If I start explaining this now, we'll be here all night. We will discuss this another day. Let's head inside; dinner is starting, and I don't want Kritika to get angry if the food gets cold."
Vikram and Adiraj walked into the house, followed by Raghav. Rudra stood alone in the courtyard for a few seconds. His hunger for the truth was visceral, but he forced himself to be calm. Vikram had clearly signaled the end of the discussion, and Rudra knew that pushing further would yield nothing. He followed them inside.
07:30 PM – 09:30 PM: The Mask of Normalcy
Inside, the atmosphere was a stark contrast to the dark whispers outside. The dining table was spread with a feast. Adiraj became a child again, playing with Kiara; Raghav teased Kritika about the spices; and Vikram watched over them all like a content father and husband.
Rudra joined in the laughter. He spoke, he smiled, and he behaved like a normal human. He fully embraced the warmth of the moment.
But behind that smiling face, Rudra's sharp mind was tirelessly dismantling the information he had received. Five questions were burned into his consciousness:
Why is the Apex Syndicate truly coming?
Where did the Guilds' absolute power originate?
What is the specific fear driving the N.D.A.I.'s High Alert?
If 20 Billion MP doesn't make Mason a Monster, what does?
What is the horrific truth the S-Rankers witnessed?
11:30 PM – The Watchman in the Night
Hours later, Rudra was back in his luxurious 6th-floor room in Sector 4. The lights were off. He stood alone by the massive glass window. Outside, thick clouds obscured the sky, and the faint moonlight filtered through the gaps onto the fortress of Mumbai.
Rudra stared at the sky, trying to connect the fragments of Vikram's half-finished sentences. He was finally beginning to understand the true scale and horror of the world he lived in.
Suddenly, from the dark recesses of his mind, a cold, ancient, and uncharacteristically "wise" voice spoke.
"Boy..." Ruin Soul said in a tone devoid of its usual mockery. "Do not overthink this right now. When your level is high enough and the time is right, this truth will present itself to you. Sleep now; your mind is exhausted."
Rudra did not respond to Ruin Soul. He didn't agree, and he didn't disagree.
He simply stood there in silence, his cold and calculating eyes fixed on the dark horizon. He knew that on December 4th, something monumental was going to happen. Until that day, he had to push his strength to a level where he could face the dark truth head-on.
