Chapter 220 - Chapter 29: The Global Harvest and The Scavenger's Den

Location: N.D.A.I. Central Vault, New Delhi

Date & Time: February 16, 2025 | 10:00 AM (IST)

Across the globe, the thousands of E and D-Rank Hell Gates that had plagued the world were now officially sealed. The G.D.A. and N.D.A.I. logistics centers had transformed into massive, humming war-factories.

Inside the sprawling underground vault in Delhi, heavy military convoys arrived in a relentless stream. Each truck was laden with the spoils of the D-Rank dungeons: thousands of kilograms of shimmering Essence Dust, mountains of radiant Glowshards, and crates upon crates of raw Infused Ore and Vitreous Fluid. For the first time, humanity had plundered the monster realm on a global scale.

Top-tier A.W.A.K.E. researchers and engineers moved through the wealth, categorizing the loot with clinical precision. A C-Rank officer stepped forward, presenting his data to the N.D.A.I. Commander.

"Sir, we now possess enough raw material to begin mass-producing basic Magitech weapons and armor for our entire frontline army," the officer reported with a look of practical satisfaction. "Furthermore, we have secured over 400 D-Rank Boss Cores. The research phase for our new mana-tech batteries begins today."

The Commander nodded, but a researcher nearby, squinting at a data tablet, pointed out a peculiar anomaly.

"Sir, most of the data is consistent, but the report from the Dharavi D-Rank gate is strange," the researcher noted, turning the screen. "While we secured the Boss Core and common materials, the output of high-grade Infused Ore and pure Essence Dust was 40% lower than the global average. It's as if the most valuable veins had been stripped clean before our squad reached them."

The Commander dismissed the observation with a cold wave of his hand. "Dungeon ecosystems are naturally unstable, especially in high-density areas. No one else could have entered. Focus on production. We have very little time before the larger Hell Gates manifest."

Rudra's name remained a ghost in their records. To the N.D.A.I., the cave was a natural fluke; they had no idea that the missing 40% was safely locked away in a 1,200 sq. ft. void within the slums.

Location: Rudra's Underground Base, Ruins of DharaviDate & Time: February 16, 2025 | 11:30 PM (IST)

The ruins above were drowned in absolute darkness and a haunting silence. But inside Rudra's underground base, there was a new, controlled glow. His sanctuary was no longer just a pile of rubble; it had become a tactical safe-house.

Using the ₹1,20,000 in cash from the Black Market, Rudra had stocked up on heavy-duty sleeping bags, industrial water purifiers, and enough canned food to last months. However, lighting a fire was out of the question; smoke and heat signatures would attract rogue mutants or N.D.A.I. surveillance drones.

Drawing on Ruin Soul's ancient logic and his [Darksmith] skill, he had forged a 'Ghost Lamp.' He had melted down a small amount of Infused Ore into a thick, cylindrical metal casing. Inside this tube, he fixed one of the large Glowshards from the dungeon. The dense Infused Ore completely blocked the radiance, allowing only a thin, focused beam of light to escape through a small aperture. It provided just enough light for him to work, while remaining completely invisible from outside the building. It was 100% stealth illumination.

"Lighting is settled," Ruin Soul's voice echoed in his mind. "But you sleep alone. If a rogue mutant ambushes you in your sleep, even your C-Rank speed won't save you. Secure the perimeter."

Rudra pulled out a quantity of Echo Moss and a handful of Essence Dust from his inventory. He ground them together into a thick, glowing paste and applied it to thin iron wires he had salvaged. He stepped out and meticulously strung these 'Echo-Wires' across the entry stairs and doorways.

It was a primitive but effective mana-radar. If any mana-bearing creature or Awakened human crossed these wires, their aura would cause the Echo Moss to react. The wires would pulse with a faint light and release a minor mana-vibration—a signal that Rudra's sharpened C-Rank senses would detect even in the deepest sleep.

Rudra returned to his Ghost Lamp and sat down, cracking open a tin of canned meat. He ate in silence. His base was now hidden, secured, and ready.
