Location: The Ancient Rune-Chamber (Deeper Ruins)
Time: January 19, 2026 | 11:40 AM
The further Unit 4 pushed into the gate, the more the natural cavern gave way to something far more unsettling. They were no longer in a cave; they were walking through the skeletal remains of an ancient, subterranean city. Massive stone pillars, etched with glowing purple runes, held up a ceiling that vanished into a dark, swirling abyss.
Suddenly, the air grew heavy. A fine, soot-like Black Ash began to drift down from the shadows above. It looked like snow from a dying world.
"Sir! My mana-receptors are flatlining!" the lead sensor technician shouted, his voice cracking with panic.
The moment the ash touched the hunters, the vibrant blue and gold auras surrounding their weapons flickered and died. The specialized mana-circuits in their tactical suits shorted out with a spray of sparks. It was a Mana-Void—a rare phenomenon where high-density ancient residue "stills" any active mana flow.
The Iron Guardians
As the team stood in total magical darkness, the sound of grinding metal echoed through the chamber. Three massive figures detached themselves from the pillars. These were the Iron Guardians—seven-foot-tall constructs of enchanted obsidian and rusted steel.
Without their active skills, the hunters were effectively powerless. Their blades, once capable of cutting through stone, were now just heavy pieces of metal.
"Defensive positions! Use your raw strength!" Vikram roared, but even his voice carried a hint of desperation. The Guardians advanced, their heavy footsteps shaking the ground. One Guardian raised a jagged, six-foot iron slab and swung it toward the front line.
CRUNCH.
The impact sent two Vanguards flying, their shields dented and their ribs cracked. Without mana to reinforce their bodies, they were just fragile humans.
The Weight of a King
Adiraj stepped through the falling ash. He didn't look bothered by the lack of mana. In fact, he looked bored. He didn't try to ignite his lightning or call upon his Sovereign skills. He simply walked toward the nearest Guardian.
"You have become too reliant on the 'Glitch'," Adiraj's voice was calm, yet it carried over the sound of battle. "A hunter who cannot kill without his mana is just a civilian with a fancy toy."
A Guardian lunged at him, its iron fist whistling through the air with enough force to pulverize a truck. Adiraj didn't dodge. He didn't even raise his guard. He simply tilted his shoulder into the strike.
The impact should have crushed him. Instead, the Guardian's iron arm buckled and snapped. It was like a toy car hitting a mountain. Adiraj's "Vessel Density" was so high that his bones and muscles were naturally denser than the enchanted metal of the constructs.
The Guardian's kinetic energy was completely absorbed and redirected by Adiraj's static mass.
With a movement too fast for the human eye to follow, Adiraj drove a straight punch into the Guardian's chest plate. There was no explosion of light, just the raw, sickening sound of metal being torn apart. His fist punched straight through the four-inch thick obsidian armor, shattering the "Soul-Core" inside.
The 700kg machine imploded, its frame collapsing into a heap of scrap metal.
"Don't just stand there," Adiraj said, looking back at his stunned team. "The ash is a test. Find the joints. Use the weight of your own bodies. Break them."
The Echo in the Dark
While Adiraj dismantled the guardians in the South, the "Resonance" reached the other side of the city.
In the hospital, Major Raghav sat on the edge of his bed. His skin was pale, but his eyes were burning. He could feel the shift in the atmosphere—the sudden "Silence" of the mana-void followed by the "Thunder" of Adiraj's raw power. He looked at his bandaged hand, the one that had been crushed by the Ghost.
"I won't be left behind," Raghav growled. He gripped the heavy plaster cast on his leg and, with a guttural roar, literally tore it off with his bare hands. Blood trickled down his skin, but he didn't care. His Rank-A potential was finally stabilizing. He wasn't just recovering; he was evolving.
In Parel, Rudra stood on his balcony, his hand gripping the rusty railing so hard the metal began to warp. He didn't know about mana-voids or Iron Guardians yet, but his new sharir could feel the vibrations of the earth. He felt the "Sun" in the South growing colder and heavier.
He looked at his hands—the smooth skin hiding the density of graphite. He didn't need a name for it. He just knew that the world was no longer a place for the weak.
