Chapter 8 - [8] A Witcher and a Werewolf

I snap awake sitting up right with a jolt, the hair on my arms standing up like a danger sense while there is a tickle at the back of my neck.

Rolling off of my cot onto the floor, my gun finds its way into my hands, naturally being held in a proper grip as I slowly rise to my feet, sweeping the room. I don't find anything that could make me feel such a sensation, 'Clear the house then the property.' The voice in my head is cold…almost clinical as I move throughout Bobby's house clearing every room, nook and cranny. Then I slowly move outside securing the house I move out into the scrap yard and head for the garage, and other buildings on the property first.

At the second building that contains the paint room I find a blood trail, slowly entering the place fully alert, prepping an Aard, while keeping trigger discipline, seeing a blonde girl with the bottom three inches of her neck length hair died with a light blue and pink is curled up on the floor a small puddle of blood forming around her nearly makes me forget that I'm in a world of monsters and rush to help her, that is until I see that the smoke is coming off of her body and where her fingernails should be a multicolored painted claws.

She turns towards me eyes glowing green teeth long and sharp like that of a wolf, but she's got some serious over bite going on as her lips curl back and she growls at me before a whimper leaves her, but I freeze up instead of pulling the trigger or even moving my index finger from resting outside of the trigger guard to the trigger why because the werewolf girl growling and whimpering at me looks identical to Enid Sinclair from the Netflix series Wednesday.

"P-please help me, there's this crazy guy trying to kill me and my friend was kidnapped by a monster." Enid whimpers out through the pain that she's in and the energy that I am holding to cast an Aard slowly fades as I reholster my gun.

"It's okay I'm not going to hurt you…" I say while raising my hands up in a disarming gesture I slowly move closer to Enid, she whimpers and tries to move away from me but then her nostrils flare and her eyes roll back up in her head before she starts to convulse, I rush to her side and start looking her over, she manages to spasm onto her stomach revealing her back which is dotted by bullets wounds that are simmering while trying to heal over at the same time.

'Silver poisoning?' I wonder and look around the building from my place and spot a set of needle nose pliers as a Carpenters knife moving quickly. I grab both, 'I need to sanitize these before I use them to get the bullets out, but how?!' A slightly crazed idea pops into my head and I form an igni sign but only channel a very small amount of energy into it, but it makes the the metal of both tools glow slightly and with that I use the knife to slice into a bullet would while kneeling on Enid's convulsing body to hold her in place then use the long needle board pliers to reach into her body and grab out the first silver bullet that luckily looks whole.

'How in the hell am I not panicking right now?! I've never pulled bullets out of someone before yet I'm doing it with a level of skill I shouldn't have!' I shout in my head as I drop the removed and bloody bullet into the ground, before I move onto the next, with each bullet I remove Enid or the werewolf from this world who looks like Enid from Wednesday condition improves slightly with every bullet I remove.

It is a long and laborious process removing the bullets from Enid's back especially when I find that three of them that hit her spine also splintered inside of her body, requiring me to dig around in her guts to make sure I get all of the silver poisoning her, out of her body.

Enid wakes up three or four times during this process, screams thrashes around and then passes out again, by the time I'm done and all her wounds heal over like they were never there to begin with, I am drenched in sweat and blood, picking her up I carry her in a princess carry up to Bobby's house, once inside I lay her down on the cot then return outside to clean up after myself and to remove her blood trail that will point whoever is hunting her to Bobby's doorstep.

By the time I'm done tracking the blood trail, and erasing it as best as I can with a bottle of bleach and kicking the dirt around I return to the garbage to clean up the blood puddle, bloody tools and bloody bullets, then find an one of the oil drums Bobby used to burn shit and burn my sweat clothes, Enid's shredded rags while throwing the bullets in for good measure.

A boy with yellow cat eyes, a handsome face and a scent that makes me feel safe flashes in my dreams, he's hurting me but I know it's because he's trying to…trying to save me, he has to get something out of me or I'll die.

His voice when he talks to me is soothing even if it's brisk and commanding, telling me not to move around so much and to stop trying to claw and bite him.

I don't mean to…I'm just in so much pain and my instincts are to lash out at him, then the pain stops my ear rests against his strong chest, the steady strong beating of his heart relaxes me, he lays me down on something soft that smells like him…I want him to stay…to keep holding me but I can't open my mouth to speak, I can't open my eyes anymore they're too heavy.

"I have to go clean up the blood, you're safe here…once you recover enough we can go and search for your friend." His voice fills me with relief. His kind, sweet, gentle voice…I wish he'd keep talking to me but everything just seems to stop and I know nothing anymore, as a blackness takes me.
