Chapter 3 - Night of terror (1).

"Aaaaaaaaahhhh!" Shouted the blonde lady as she was slashed across her abdomen. Parts of her blouse had been ripped off and four deep wounds on her flesh had been made. She staggered for a bit before she fell face forward and a pool of blood flowed from her corpse.

Everyone's focus went back to the strange creature that had broken through the window a little bit to late as it did a arc slash that's split everyone and everything within it's trajectory.

About five people had their faces ripped off while two others had their heads completely taken off. William reacted fast enough and dodged the attack by throwing himself on the ground. More screams erupted followed by people forcefully squeezing themselves through the narrow passage to get to the other carriage.

William on the other hand witnessed the creature carry a grown man by his head.

"P..please, somebody help me!" The man pleaded as his feet soon left the ground and the grip on his head tightened. His attempts to make the creature let him go by hitting various parts of his face proved to be futile.

Growl.

The man screamed in pain and agony. The creature squeezed his head tighter not caring whether he was suffering or not. The sound of his skull cracking was loud and unsettling. In his dying moments, the man's eyes met with that of William. He could see the desperation in the man's teary eyes but it was only for a second as his head was crushed in a somewhat effortless manner.

Blood splattered on the floor of the train and the body fell with a loud thud.

'This is bad.' William told himself as the creature's focus was now on him. The creature opened its mouth to let out a loud growl before raising its hand to strike him. Out of pure instinct, William rolled to his left and dodged the attack.

The sound of the claw scrapping the metal resounded in the carriage. William picked up the pole that had been dislodged by the creature's second attack and stood to defend himself.

He took a weird stance, having the sharp part pointed towards the creature. William could feel his heart beating faster with the adrenaline finally settling in. He was sweating more than usual and his breathing became more heavy.

In a fight or flight situation, William had decided it was worth it squaring up. He had basic training in self defense and was confident that he could handle the creature even for just a little bit, but not enough to kill it.

Killing the creature was not on his agenda. He simply wished to survive its attacks while trying to find an opening for him to escape. The fact that the creature was above his league had already been determined.

The creature looked at William with weird a unchanging expression, having ceased looking at different directions with each of its eyes. The creature wasn't one to gauge the enemy. It was the kind that quickly attacked as soon as it spotted it's prey.

William had come to notice this when the creature went on to barrage him with strikes almost as soon as he had gotten his footing. William didn't dare use the pole to defend himself, already keeping in mind that it could easily be shattered.

Instead, he focused on dodging the attacks as best as he could. The creature would try to strike him down with a downward slash and William would respond by dodging to the side.

A horizontal slash was met with him ducking and using the slight opening to strike it at it's leg. However, the creature was much faster than he had anticipated as it moved it's leg slightly backwards and proceeded to try and grab hold of William.

William barely dodged it's hand. His face was slightly stretched at his cheek. The game of dodge the attack went on for five seconds till they had fully gone around in an ark.

'Good, just as planned.'

He had successfully moved in an ark thus granting him an easy passage to the next carriage. He turned around and dashed towards the other carriage.

He covered a good half a metre before the creature backhand slapped him. William was sent flying to the wall of the train and he fell on the ground.

A loud groan escaped his lips as the pain of the attack settled in. His vision was disoriented, his head hurt quite a lot and he was sure he was bleeding internally at his chest.

The pain at the lower part of his abdomen was even greater. He felt something piercing his insides as he attempted to stand up. Most probably a broken rib. He coughed a few times and each felt like he was being stung by a thousand needles.

William pushed himself to his limits just to get to a crawling position . A lot of parts of his body hurt but he didn't have the luxury to stay there. There was a creature he had to run away from.

He grabbed hold of the pole that had fallen next to him and pushed onwards.

Speaking of the creature, it held William by his head using one hand. Then muscular giant was slowly lifted off the ground as his head was being crushed.

The creature fixed its eyes on him, it's grip on his head tightening. William cried out in pain, his skull slowly letting out a cracking sound.

It seemed that this was the end of him. And it would have been so had William not forgotten he had a home to go back to.

Using the last bit of his strength, he raised both his hands and drove the pole he had straight through the creatures head.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaack!

The creature cried out. William couldn't help but smile at its agony but that smile soon disappeared when the creature tossed him towards the wall again and this time he landed on one of the train seats before losing consciousness.

The creature on the other hand began screaming and lashing around as its blood spewed from its head. Its eyes were rotating randomly and its movements began slowing down before it rushed through the train like it had gotten a sudden burst of energy.

Within the other carriages where other passengers had isolated themselves, there was widespread panic and dread. They found it hard to believe that there was something truly despicable coming to hunt them but the accounts of those who had survived the massacre on the front carriages were backed up when the creature ploughed through the people in the subsequent carriages, slashing them to pieces and breaking them apart.

Someone within a carriage close to the rear carriage shone a flashlight towards the sea where she could have sworn she had seen movement.

There was nothing unusual with it at first. Then ripples began appearing and fast moving projectiles shot out of the water. She quickly retracted from the wall.

"What's wrong?" Her friend asked, alarmed by her sudden action.

"There's something.. .. I saw something...."

She was cut off by loud thuds coming from the roof which made the whole train shake. The fear of the passengers was further magnified by the sounds of metal being ripped apart and strange growls as well as shrieks.

"Just what the hell is going on?" A man asked himself while trying to stomach the dread he had.

There was screaming and shouting as more and more thuds came from the roof.

One old man couldn't help but kneel down and pray to his god but the place they were in had no god to deliver him.

With a loud cry from the outside, the long night of terror had began.
