Chapter 14 - Chapter 14: Class Ascension

-----

"Is it finally done?!"

I gasped in disbelief as my hands began to gleam brightly. My status started shifting after I had conjured the same two spells nonstop from yesterday all the way through to this morning.

I finally did it.

Ding!

[You have learned the Spell Skill: [Holy Barrier – Tier 1: Level 1/10]!]

[You have learned the Spell Skill: [Exorcizing Flash – Tier 1: Level 1/10]!]

"I-I did it!"

I screamed like a maniac at five in the morning, loud enough to jolt several neighbors awake. I stared at my status in pure disbelief, eyes locked on the two brand-new skills—the final pieces I needed to unlock Class Change once more and raise my level cap.

"Nice, really nice, finally—oh? Magic Skills got their own section now?" I wondered aloud.

"Yeah, I added that category to clean things up a bit. The normal skills section was starting to feel cluttered," Freyja explained. "Every new Magic Spell Skill you learn will appear there. It's mostly a visual improvement, nothing major."

"I know, but it does look cleaner," I nodded. "Anyway, onto more important things. Look at this."

I closed my eyes, gathered Mana into my palms, and conjured the spells one after another.

A bright, massive, powerful fireball.

A radiant golden light capable of healing wounds.

A sturdy barrier forged from that same holy light.

And finally, a blinding white flash designed to devastate undead.

"With these, if I ever face that damn necromancer and his army again, I can do so much more damage," I said, voice firm with resolve. "Though that bastard has been eerily quiet lately. Maybe he doesn't even know where we are right now."

"Well, you've gone pretty deep into the forest," Freyja pointed out. "He seems quite far from your current location, but who knows? It's better not to get complacent."

"You're right. I'll tell my family to start learning these spells too," I decided. "Who do you think would pick up Fireball the fastest?"

"Hm, your father has the strongest fire affinity," Freyja answered. "Your mother has the best light affinity, followed closely by your sister. Your brother would take the longest to learn any of them."

"Got it," I said with a nod. "Father needs to learn some proper spells then. As for me, let's check one last time."

[You have completed all Class Rank Up Requirements.]

[Do you wish to see your Class Changing Options?]

[Available Class Change Options: 10]

"Ten options?! Is it because I already have five classes?" I wondered excitedly. "Alright, let's see them. Show me all available classes."

[Displaying all available classes.]

[Magician – Tier 1] → [Diviner – Tier 2] / [Sorceress – Tier 2]

[Warrior – Tier 1] → [Gladiator – Tier 2] / [Barbarian – Tier 2]

[Archer – Tier 1] → [Sniper – Tier 2] / [Hunter – Tier 2]

[Healer – Tier 1] → [Priestess – Tier 2] / [Saintess – Tier 2]

[Rogue – Tier 1] → [Assassin – Tier 2] / [Ninja – Tier 2]

"I see, so these are my choices?" I murmured. "I remember something similar from the game… Alright, what should I pick? Diviner or Sorceress? Wait—Diviner? What exactly is this class?"

[Diviner – Tier 2]: A Class with the ability to glimpse the future, predict events or tragedies, and prevent them before they occur. It also grants Clairvoyance to peer far ahead in time or distance. At higher levels, Diviners can commune with stars and constellations to gain their blessings. They can read people's hearts and fates, foresee destinies, and guide others toward their true paths. Mana +800, Spirit +300, Resistance +300.

"Oh, I see. Let's check every single one of the ten options, yes—all of them."

[Sorceress – Tier 2]: A Class that builds on the Magician, greatly increasing the ability to learn new Spells and to control and enhance Mana. It can eventually cast spells without any conjuration and halve Mana Consumption, while developing magic at a much faster pace. Female Sorceresses blessed by the Goddess of the Moon also gain unique abilities in Enchantment and Illusions. Mana +500, Agility +200, Spirit +200, Resistance +200.

[Gladiator – Tier 2]: A Class that refines the Warrior's capabilities into a hardy yet disciplined fighter, specialized in survival and brutal combat. Possesses a relentless determination to survive and win at any cost. Can endure lethal blows once and grows stronger the lower their health becomes. Strength +300, Vitality +500, Agility +100, Endurance +100.

[Barbarian – Tier 2]: A Class that evolves the Warrior into a wilder, more reckless style, specializing in combat with a wide variety of weapons and growing stronger when fighting alongside groups of allies. Strength +500, Vitality +300, Agility +100, Endurance +100.

[Sniper – Tier 2]: A Class that sharpens the Archer's precision and long-range prowess into deadly marksmanship, specializing in striking vital points from extreme distances with unmatched accuracy. Can pierce magical barriers and armor, while gaining bonuses to critical hits and tracking elusive targets. Agility +500, Spirit +300, Resistance +200, Luck +100.

[Huntress – Tier 2]: A Class that enhances the Archer's tracking and survival skills in the wild, excelling at hunting beasts and setting traps. Gains heightened senses, beast-taming potential, and bonuses to damage against animals and monsters, along with more efficient harvesting of rare materials. Agility +400, Endurance +300, Spirit +200, Luck +200.

[Priestess – Tier 2]: A Class that refines the Healer's divine powers, focusing on protective blessings, purification, and group support. Can summon holy auras to bolster allies' defenses and cleanse debuffs, with improved mana recovery for sustained battles. Mana +600, Spirit +400, Resistance +300, Charm +200.

[Saintess – Tier 2]: A Class that elevates the Healer into a radiant beacon of divine light, specializing in mass healing, small miracles, and holy judgments against evil. Possesses innate resistance to darkness and undead, and can channel divine wrath through powerful light-based offensive spells. Mana +700, Vitality +300, Spirit +500, Charm +300.

[Assassin – Tier 2]: A Class that hones the Rogue's stealth into lethal precision strikes, mastering poisons, backstabs, and evasion. Can blend completely into shadows and gain massive damage multipliers against unaware targets, with heightened speed in darkness or at night. Agility +500, Strength +200, Spirit +200, Luck +200.

[Ninja – Tier 2]: A Class that transforms the Rogue into a master of subterfuge and elemental shadow arts, wielding shurikens, wire traps, and illusionary clones. Excels at quick infiltrations, diversions, and hit-and-run tactics, with the ability to summon shadow familiars for support. Agility +400, Spirit +300, Resistance +200, Endurance +200.

"Ohoho, they all sound great," I nodded. "Hmm, no Druid though. I guess that's a Tier 3 Class. I'd have to take the Sorceress path and focus heavily on nature stuff… Or…"

After thinking it over for a while, I decided to choose Seer on my Magician Path.

For the Warrior Path, I went with Gladiator this time instead of Barbarian. While Barbarian offered more raw strength, I wanted the "Guts" and "Last Stance" Skills that Gladiator-tree Classes can learn.

For the Archer Path, I considered it carefully. Although Sniper would be incredible, I chose Huntress. I needed to move better in this wilderness.

For the Healer Path, I picked the obvious choice: Saintess. It had likely appeared because of my new Title. It was clearly superior to Priest in every way.

And finally, for the Rogue Path, I debated for a moment but settled on Ninja. It felt far more flexible than Assassin, and… well, ninjas are just cool.

[You have chosen the [Diviner – Tier 2] Class! Mana +800, Spirit +300, Resistance +300.]

[You learned the Skill: [Future Sight – Tier 2: Level 1/10]!]

Future Sight… This is exactly what I wanted.

[You have chosen the [Gladiator – Tier 2] Class! Strength +300, Vitality +500, Agility +100, Endurance +100.]

[You learned the Skill: [Guts – Tier 2: Level 1/10]!]

I got Guts right away! Yes!

[You have chosen the [Huntress – Tier 2] Class! Agility +400, Endurance +300, Spirit +200, Luck +200.]

[You learned the Skill: [Beast Senses – Tier 2: Level 1/10]!]

Beast Senses? I don't recognize it, but it sounds incredibly useful.

[You have chosen the [Saintess – Tier 2] Class! Mana +700, Vitality +300, Spirit +500, Charm +300.]

[You learned the Skill: [Holy Smite – Tier 2: Level 1/10]!]

Holy Smite! I thought only Paladins and War Priests could learn this, but Saints can too. That's interesting.

[You have chosen the [Ninja – Tier 2] Class! Agility +400, Spirit +300, Resistance +200, Endurance +200.]

[You learned the Skill: [Ninjutsu: Shadow Clone – Tier 2: Level 1/10]!]

Shadow Clone right off the bat?! I am the luckiest woman alive!

"T-This is incredible! And the bonus stats are absolutely insane!" I was practically vibrating with the raw power surging through me. "I have so many new toys to play with!"

Ding!

[As a newly appointed Saintess, it is now possible for you to choose up to two different gods to worship and spread their faith throughout the world.]

[In exchange, you will gain their divine blessings and special skills, bonus stats, and even divine guidance from them.]

[Number of interested Gods: 7]

"Eh? Wait, what is this? I can… choose gods?"

I fell silent for a moment as my aura surged briefly. Slowly, the flood of bonus stats settled inside me. I had actually tried selecting more than one class earlier, but nothing happened. I guess that option only worked at the very beginning.

Anyway, this god thing…

"Freyja, do you know who these gods are?" I asked.

"Well, not really," she replied.

"I'm guessing they could be like the Twelve Gods that govern Terrarium," I mused, rubbing my chin.

Terrarium was the name of this planet. According to the game's lore, it was once a completely alien world, invaded by space-faring gods who terraformed it and established colonies to extract its resources.

By the end of their era, the heroes they had chosen to control the indigenous population rebelled instead. One of them rose to become a god, slaying the invaders and driving the rest away, never to return.

Afterward, Terrarium entered an age of peace and slowly healed. The heroes who saved it became the ancestors of every tribe and clan that exists millions of years later.

New gods naturally emerged, born from the world's Elemental Concepts and the belief of its people. These were the "New Gods of Terrarium," operating under completely different rules than the ancient invaders.

It was honestly pretty cool lore. When you explored the world, you could find ruins of the Ancient Gods—including abandoned spaceships the size of mountains. Those massive labyrinth dungeons were filled with mechanical monsters and fascinating treasures to loot.

"Okay, let's see what gods are interested in me… as creepy as that sounds. And honestly, it also kind of flatters me."

[Showcasing all interested Gods in taking you as their Saintess.]

{Goddess of the Moon and Love, Selene}

"I promise you that you will never feel lonely again beneath my protection, dear. At night the moon will shield you and make you stronger. Men will find you irresistible, and you will conjure illusions with ease."

{God of War and Blood, Ares}

"As a Barbarian you are bound to wage war. A Saintess of War will bring victory to me and her people. I will grant you the power to win every battle and dedicate each triumph to me."

{Goddess of Nature and Spirits, Tierra}

"If you become my Saintess, the forest itself will stand with you. All plants and nature will protect you. Spirits will answer your call, offering their aid whenever you desire."

{God of Sun and Pride, Solaris}

"The Sun! Who doesn't know the Sun? I'm incredible, I know. Just choose me and your life becomes easier. Shoot sunlight beams at your enemies, gain protection against fire. Recover Mana and Health faster under my light, blind foes with my eternal radiance. What's not to love?"

{Goddess of Thunderstorms and the Sky, Thera}

"Bring destruction upon your foes by hurling thunderbolts. Worship the sky, and the winds of victory will always blow in your favor. Don't listen to that stupid sun."

{God of Mountains and Earthquakes, Titan}

"Tierra is my mother and she told me to offer my services. I don't know what to say and… I'm quite nervous. Uh, I don't know. Please choose me. I will let you unleash earthquakes, control the earth, and do all sorts of things with it."

{God of Darkness and the Void, Tenebrio}

"…"

"Huh, that's a lot…" I muttered. "Um, Tenebrio didn't say a single thing, though."

"He might be a man of few words, but his authority feels undeniably strong," Freyja observed. "The power of darkness and the void sounds incredibly potent."

"Eh, I guess so," I shrugged. "What disappoints me is that there's not a single god or goddess of pure light itself? Like, hello? I learned all those spells…"

"The Sun God already holds authority over light," Freyja explained. "I don't think another exists."

"No, there are five other gods who didn't show up. I guess I wasn't impressive enough for them," I grumbled. "Anyway, who should I choose? Freyja, any tips?"

"Hmm, they're not that straightforward with their offers. Honestly, the Sun God seems like a solid match for your Fire and Light elements—the ones you've been training so far. Most battles and wars happen during the day, right?" she reasoned. "So it doesn't sound bad. He also comes across as honest and fiercely proud of his own domain."

"You're right," I nodded. "So Sun then. I do like him too—he's got attitude. Ares next?"

"I would suggest not choosing a god of war," Freyja said. "They might manipulate you into fighting endlessly for the rest of your life."

"Hm…" I nodded. "And he and the other War Gods are playing around in these plains too, commanding other clans. To them, this is just a game."

"Indeed," Freyja sighed. "Selene seems… very boring, right?"

"Illusions are interesting, but they're not my style," I nodded. "So pass… Tierra and her son are interesting too. Her son is way too confused about all this. Tierra herself… I kind of want to choose her. I still want to go for the Druid Class, and her blessing might let me get it easily at the next rank-up."

"Sounds good," Freyja nodded. "She also seems confident, stern, and serious—she's not messing around like the rest. That shows real maturity."

"Thera? Meh," I shrugged. "And… Titan? Eh, I prefer the mother. As for Tenebrio, he's certainly a wild card. I wonder what would happen if I chose him and the sun god, I bet they're total opposites. I'd do it just because it's funny, but I'd rather not—my survival depends on this."

"I agree it might be funny, but yes, your survival is more important," Freyja agreed.

"Then, it's decided."

Ding!

[You have chosen to worship and spread the faith of {God of the Sun and Pride, Solaris} and {Goddess of Nature and Spirits, Tierra}!]

[The {God of the Sun and Pride, Solaris} is joyful to know you've chosen him, saying: "Ah, this is the first time I see such a huge and muscular Saintess. I am looking forward to your adventures from now on. Make sure to make them a little entertaining for me—I get bored quickly."]

[You have received the {Divine Blessing: God of the Sun and Pride, Solaris}!]

[You have learned the Class Skill: [Sunshine Halo – Tier 2: Level 1/10]]

[The {Goddess of Nature and Spirits, Tierra} smiles lightly, feeling grateful you have chosen her despite her old age and often serious demeanor, saying: "Thank you for your preference, young Saintess. I am looking forward to our combined efforts. I choose you primarily because of your love for animals."]

[You have received the {Divine Blessing: Goddess of Nature and Spirits, Tierra}!]

[You have learned the Class Skill: [Verdant Manifestation – Tier 2: Level 1/10]]

[You have acquired the Title: [Saintess of the Sun and Nature]!]

"Two new Skills—what do they do?" I wondered, activating the first one.

FLASH!

"Huh?!"

A halo of bright gold and red radiance appeared above my head. It stayed motionless at first and didn't seem to do much, but when I infused my thoughts and mana into it, it spun rapidly, firing beams of sunlight in every direction around me.

They had impressive range, but the damage wasn't overwhelming, likely scaled off Mana and Spirit stats, and mine were already fairly high. Perhaps I needed even more of those stats to make it truly shine.

"It might seem weak now, but as you expand the faith of the Sun God, it will naturally grow stronger," Freyja explained. "I would recommend building two temples for them so the clan can offer prayers and tributes."

"I don't know how to feel about forcing them to do that," I groaned, scratching my head. "I guess I can try, but I won't make them if they don't want to."

"That's fair enough," Freyja shrugged. "If anything, these skills are bonuses anyway. It's not like you ever planned to be a fully committed Saintess."

"Yep," I nodded. "Now this…"

I activated Verdant Manifestation, and what happened was… plants. Plant matter burst from the wooden floor beneath me. The dead wood suddenly came alive, branches sprouted with vibrant green leaves, and a small red flower bloomed.

"Oof, this is awesome but—Ugh, my Mana's empty?!"

I felt utterly drained out of nowhere. That tiny display had consumed my entire mana pool! I suspected that if I tried channeling it through the Mana Diamond, it would suck the gem dry and shatter it in an instant.

"Huh, another interesting Skill that grows through Faith," Freyja said. "Well, if you can breathe life into plant matter, you could sprout seeds and start a farm… it'll help once you build one. I don't recommend starting one in these temperatures unless it's system-made and has special magic protection against the winter."

"I agree, but it drains so much Mana… I guess it still has its uses," I nodded. "I just have to use it in small amounts so I don't get wiped out instantly. Anyway, this tree's alive now… Meh, I'll leave it there for the moment. It's overflowing with my Mana and Spirit Energy—it would be a waste to kill it and throw it away."

"You're going to grow a tree inside the house?!" Freyja asked, genuinely surprised.

"Well, the tree grew out of the house's wood, so I guess so," I shrugged, giving it some water. "If it grows, it grows. If it doesn't, well, it doesn't matter."

I really didn't think much about it, deciding to quickly check my status now that I had chosen my new Classes and my stats had skyrocketed even further.
