Chapter 116 - Rebuilding the Police Force, Resurrection of Sakumo Hatake

Tsunade grinned, her eyes flashing with a predatory light. "That casino owner is already terrified of me. Word will spread through Shuku-ba Town like wildfire. I need to hit the other gambling dens before the news reaches the Capital and they close their doors to me!"

"As expected of Tsunade-sama! Always thinking ahead," Shizune chirped, clutching Tonton. "I'll go prepare our things immediately."

"No rush," Tsunade countered, her stomach letting out a loud growl. "I've been playing all morning and I'm parched. Let's find some sake and celebrate our windfall first!"

"Oink, oink!" Tonton's eyes sparkled. It had been far too long since its last feast.

While Tsunade celebrated, two figures paused at the edge of town.

Kabuto adjusted his glasses. "Lord Orochimaru, this is Shuku-ba Town. My scouts report that Tsunade is currently here."

Orochimaru looked at the bustling town with a thin, mocking smile. "With so many gambling dens, this place is paradise for a loser like her. It's been years... I'm actually quite looking forward to the reunion."

Shortly after the serpent entered the town, Jiraiya and Naruto arrived. Naruto was struggling with a water balloon, trying to force his chakra to swirl inside it without popping it.

I heard a rumor at the last 'research' spot that a legendary 'Big Fat Lamb' just hit town, Jiraiya thought. That has to be Tsunade.

"Come on, Naruto! The person we're looking for is right here," Jiraiya called out, heading toward the scent of sake and gambling.

The New Police Force

In the Konoha Council Room, a tense meeting was underway. Present were the Elders (Koharu and Homura), the Fire Country Daimyō, Shikaku Nara, and Raizen Uchiha.

"Given the recent invasion," Raizen stated calmly, "I believe it is imperative to rebuild the Konoha Military Police Force to ensure the village's internal security."

Koharu frowned. "The Uchiha currently consist of you and a brood of toddlers. Rebuilding the Police Force seems... overly ambitious, if not impossible."

Since the Daimyō—Raizen's father-in-law—was present, she kept her tone civil, but the skepticism was clear.

"I plan to recruit outside shinobi into the force," Raizen replied.

"Every capable ninja in the Leaf is already assigned to a squad or a department," Homura countered. "There are no 'idle' elites for you to hire."

Raizen narrowed his eyes. "Don't worry about that. The shinobi I recruit will be Konoha-born, fiercely loyal, and currently 'available'."

"Since my son-in-law is so dedicated to the village's safety," the Daimyō chimed in, waving his fan, "I hereby authorize the reconstruction of the Police Force under Raizen's leadership."

The Elders stiffened but didn't dare argue with the man who funded the entire village. Shikaku Nara remained silent; he knew a losing battle when he saw one. Besides, if Raizen wanted to spend his own money to patrol the streets, it only made the village safer.

That night, after a lavish dinner with the Daimyō, the Elders retreated to vent.

"It won't last," Homura spat. "He'll only attract the dregs—failed Genin and retirees. Let him play house. It'll take twenty years for his children to grow up. Until then, his 'Police Force' will be a joke."

"Indeed," Koharu agreed. "Let him waste his own gold. If his ragtag group of failures gets wiped out by a common thief, it's no skin off our backs."

The First Recruit

The next day, Raizen visited the Hatake residence.

"Raizen? What brings you here?" Kakashi asked, looking surprised.

"I'm here for a favor," Raizen said, sitting down. "Kakashi, do you remember when I told you I could bring back your father?"

Kakashi froze. He had always assumed Raizen was joking or drunk when he mentioned it before. But after seeing Orochimaru's Edo Tensei, he knew the dead could walk again. "Are you serious, Raizen?"

"Entirely. I'm rebuilding the Police Force, and the first man I want on the roster is Sakumo Hatake."

"My father..." Kakashi's voice wavered. "If you can... please. I have so much I need to ask him."

"I need a memento," Raizen said. "Something he would recognize instantly."

Kakashi went into the house and brought out the shattered remains of the White Light Chakra Sabre. "This was his. I broke it on a mission, but he would know it anywhere."

"Wait for the good news, Kakashi."

Resurrection

In the dead of night, Raizen stood before the grave of the White Fang. He drew Sōnga.

The blade pulsed with a sinister, violet light. Raizen drove the dark steel into the earth before Sakumo's headstone.

"Awaken! Sakumo Hatake!"

Hellish red light erupted from the soil. A skeleton clawed its way out of the dirt, and before Raizen's eyes, muscles and skin knit themselves back onto the bones with impossible speed. Within moments, a man with spiky white hair stood before him—completely naked.

"Who... who are you? Why am I here?" Sakumo asked, looking bewildered. He had been sitting in the Pure Land, waiting, when a terrifying force yanked him back to the world of the living.

"I am Raizen Uchiha, the current Head of the Uchiha Clan," Raizen said, sheathing Sōnga. "I brought you back and gave you a new body. I could have made you a mindless puppet, but I chose to give you back your will."

"Resurrection?" Sakumo looked at his hands, stunned. "How is this possible?"

"I have my ways. If you don't believe me, look at this." Raizen handed him the broken white sabre.

Sakumo's eyes softened as he touched the blade. "My sword... Kakashi..."

"Kakashi wants to see you. He's waiting at home. Go to him."

"You didn't bring me back just for a family reunion," Sakumo noted, his gaze turning sharp. "What do you want?"

"I want your blade. I am rebuilding the Police Force, and I need a Captain who can make the world tremble again."

Raizen gave Sakumo a brief summary of the Uchiha massacre (blaming Itachi for now) and the current state of the village. Sakumo sighed heavily. "To think the village has changed so much..."

"I'll be waiting for you at the old Police HQ tomorrow. Don't disappoint me, Sakumo-senpai."

"Wait, Raizen!" Sakumo called out, his face turning a shade of red that matched his son's blush. "I... I don't have any clothes! I can't exactly walk through the streets of Konoha like this!"

Raizen laughed as he turned to leave. "It's late, Senpai. There's no one on the streets. If someone sees you, they'll just think they saw a ghost—and they'd be right! If you're really shy, use some leaves. I have to get home to my wives. See ya!"

Raizen vanished in a Body Flicker, leaving the legendary White Fang of the Leaf shivering in the night air, clutching a broken sword and wondering how his life had come to this.
