'Should I enter?' Tyel couldn't remove the weird feeling in his chest since the moment he came outside of the prison; he had been thinking about Martheel's words and what he had said to him. 'I know that this isn't right… but if I'm not the one doing it, who will take the burden?'
Tyel was currently in front of the boxes covering the entrance. At first, he had been hesitant to enter. 'Remaining here will not bring me anywhere… I can't force myself to lose time again…' Tyel looked at the pistol and he saw the reflection of his friends' faces the moment he would enter with the vibration core. All of them would be happy and they would greet him happily, and Tyel couldn't lose this chance; he had to see everyone's faces happy.
As he moved the boxes, the scene in the main room was almost the same. Differently than the other times, Vane, Liro, and Darian were talking to each other, Lily was reading her usual diary full of plant information, while Orechin and Syrmax were talking with each other.
"Hey, it's Tyel!" shouted Lily the moment she noticed the man going down the stairs. The moment she said that name, everyone else turned towards her and they all got ready to greet Tyel.
"Hey Tyel, you're here!" said Orechin happily. Tyel entered the room with a big smile, an expression totally different from the one he had some moments ago.
'I can't let them see what I'm thinking right now… like Timehors, I always need to smile whenever I help people,' thought Tyel, as it felt like he was hiding something behind his back with his hand as he had left it behind him.
Tyel had a huge smirk on his face right before he showed the vibration core to everyone. "HERE!!" shouted Tyel happily. At first, everyone hadn't understood what it was, but Darian was the only one that understood it immediately.
Liro and Orechin followed as they remembered Darian's description of the vibration core. "No way, you've really found it!" shouted Darian as he couldn't contain his excitement and immediately rushed towards the vibration core left on the table. Snowy, on Darian's shoulder, couldn't do anything, as he was sleeping, and fell on the ground.
"No way… is it the vibration core?!" said Syrmax, surprised, as he adjusted his monocle at the sight of the object being taken into Darian's hands.
"I'm sure you could have done it, Tyel!! Damn, that's crazy!" shouted Orechin as he got closer to the vibration core, as he couldn't believe his eyes either.
"So? Do you think I took the right object?" asked Tyel, smirking. Darian stretched his hand towards him. "It's coming, boss!" said Tyel playfully as he grabbed a rock, which had been taken today right outside the base's entrance, and gave it to Darian.
Snowy, in all of this, jumped back on Darian's shoulder and looked at the vibration core curiously.
"With just a single small shot, the vibration core should be able to soften the stone just enough for us to break it easily…" whispered Darian as he injected some liquid directly into the stone.
"This should be enough," added Darian as he realized that the stone in his hands had changed completely; it was soft and it was similar to wool, and it could be easily broken.
"Let's try this…!!" Darian, with all the strength in his body while everyone else was watching him, started to stretch the stone until, after a few seconds, it broke in half.
"No way! I have never seen anything like that!!" said Liro as he couldn't believe what just happened. He had always seen the rock as something extremely hard that was impossible to break; as he got next to Darian, he grabbed one of the halves of the rock and sliced it in half too.
"It really is the vibration core…" said Orechin as he couldn't believe his eyes. And while everyone looked extremely surprised and happy, Darian was the only one who was a bit unsure.
"Hey Tyel… was Zrelekai able to create this object perfectly fine? I remember it being more efficient than this…" asked Darian as he first looked at the softened stone and then at the liquid in the pistol.
"I heard some scientists saying that it wasn't complete at all… but why do you think this?" asked Tyel, as he was starting to get worried that this object wouldn't be the solution for the rebels.
"Oh no, it works completely fine, don't worry," said Darian in a reassuring tone as he noticed Tyel's weird look. "It's just that I remember Sonar using less liquid for a stone this small…" Darian left the softened stone on the table, which was later grabbed by Vane, who started to play with it.
As Darian grabbed the liquid, he looked at it slightly scared. "Hey Tyel… are you sure where you found this there wasn't any liquid that could be replaced when this is over?" Darian inspected the liquid inside the vibration core and started to wonder if it would work.
"Sadly, no…" said Tyel as he lowered his head. 'But I searched for it, I promise… please look at me with hope in your eyes again…' thought Tyel as he looked at the ground, feeling sad.
"Oh no… and do you think this liquid will be enough?" asked Liro, worried. Next to him, Vane had completely forgotten about the liquid and was only focusing on destroying the rock.
"When we went to see the wall these days, I didn't think it was very thick; this liquid should be enough… but…" whispered Darian as he started to think about how he could create the arch.
"You said that you should create a perfect arch that can let us pass through it, right?" asked Liro, worried that the calculation might take multiple days.
"Yeah… but I'll simply ask Rusty to make them. I can contact him without any problem and he'll surely know how to help me," said Darian as he grabbed the phone in his hands and immediately began to write to Rusty about this.
"Hey, do you know something about Ardoris' walls? Like how much they weigh?" asked Darian, but as he looked at the rebels, they all had a weird look over their faces.
"Let's go with something else…" said Darian as he started to remember when he recently went together with Orechin nearby the walls. "I believe that was sandstone…" whispered Darian as he spoke with such a low voice that only he could hear what he had said.
"Do you remember how big this city is and if it is perfectly circular?" asked Darian. Tyel nodded his head.
"It has exactly 10 km of diameter," answered Tyel. Darian began to type what Tyel had just told him.
"The walls didn't seem very thick, let's go with around 1.5 meters…" whispered Darian as he kept writing on his phone. "They were around 14 meters high and… with the diameter, Rusty can easily calculate how long the walls are."
'I don't remember the weight of sandstone per cubic meter… well, Rusty will definitely remember,' thought Darian as he sat down on the sofa and began to write down the full text to send to Rusty.
"Hey Rusty, do you remember the object called vibration core? I don't even need your answer as you're the most powerful AI ever… well, we're using it to create a hole in the walls of Ardoris, and I need you to calculate the perfect angle and perfect way to dig into this rock. First, let's start by saying that the type of rock, I'm pretty sure, is sandstone, and the diameter of the town is around 10 km. These values are extremely approximate, so pay attention; the walls should be 1.5 m thick and they have to be 14 m tall. Can you please tell me the exact arch that I have to create to make the perfect passage for us?"
Everyone had gathered around Darian, who hadn't noticed everyone next to him and got scared for a moment. "Hey, don't look at this!" said he playfully, and the others all laughed together.
As always, the answer arrived almost immediately. "Alright master, I'll make the calculation and send you the exact picture of the arch…"
'It will not take long… just around 10 seconds…' Darian remained silent like everyone else, and after those 10 seconds, Rusty had finally answered and he had sent Darian the picture of the wall generated by him, with the arch and how it should look, and nearby the picture it listed the instructions.
"Note, you can make the arch smaller if you need, but it should not surpass 1 meter or the whole wall might collapse," added Rusty in the text. Darian's eyes immediately lit up at the sight of that.
"Ahaha, I knew it! You're so damn great, Rusty!" shouted Darian happily as he broke the silence in the room.
"Has he answered you?!" shouted Liro with a sparkle in his eyes, amazed that Rusty had already replied.
"Hehe yeah, I just need to memorize the process so I will not fail in the creation of the hole." Darian immediately opened the picture Rusty sent him and started to study it.
"Well, don't worry about it, Darian. Tyel tomorrow will tell you how you're creating the hole by using his power, right?" asked Vane as he looked over at Tyel, who seemed confused.
'Oh right, the future sight stuff…' thought Tyel as he changed his expression and smirked. "Don't worry, I'll take care of that, but I suggest learning the right way of doing it or we might never be able to do it…" pointed out Tyel. Darian nodded his head. "Don't worry, I'll do it." With that, Darian began to study the picture Rusty sent him.
"I suggest that you go and rest, Tyel. Tomorrow might be a difficult day for you as you'll have to use your power," said Orechin.
"Yeah, I know, because tomorrow I've got my day off. I'll search for the perfect place that doesn't get spotted by the cams, and that will be where we will destroy the stone… Darian, has Rusty told you if only a particular place works?" asked Tyel to Darian, who was focused on the phone with his head down, not caring about anything around.
Hearing Tyel's words, he simply shook his fist, and Tyel understood that it was a simple no and every place was alright. "Then tomorrow I'll come and call you… I believe that we will part during the night, so get ready around that time," said Tyel as he went outside the base and returned towards his home.
"I'll go and study this file…" said Darian as he was hypnotized by the phone. Snowy, on his shoulder, was confused as he had never seen Darian like that and remained on his shoulder while Darian went towards his room to study the picture Rusty had sent him.
"I'd better get to sleep as tomorrow I'll have to search for a place…" whispered Tyel. The moment he returned home, he was already in bed, and as he looked at the ceiling, he sighed heavily. 'Let's hope that tomorrow I will not have to kill myself… I'm getting tired of this…' With this thought in mind, Tyel slowly closed his eyes and fell asleep.
The following day, when Tyel arrived at the rebels' base, it was already 9 p.m. and the sun was no longer up and the whole city had become darker.
Tyel looked at the Timehors costume on the bed and sighed. "Time to become Timehors again…" With that, Tyel went out of the house and rushed towards the base to tell the others that he had finally found the perfect spot for them to dig inside the wall.
"Let's go… arghh, I've slept the whole day!!" said Vane while stretching himself out, as he had remained on the sofa sleeping the whole day.
"And I, on the other hand, barely had time to sleep because of that picture… yawnnn," said Darian as his eyes were partially closed and he had huge bags under his eyes.
"Hey Darian, are you sure you'll be alright?" asked Liro.
"Tyel will be the one to tell us… hey Tyel, will I be alright today?" said Darian. Tyel closed his eyes for a moment and nodded his head.
"You'll definitely be." With that, the group started to walk towards the place, not far from where Ashikunz had left the bait, but it was in a hidden place behind an abandoned house.
This house was really old and no one had lived here since the owners died, as some legends said that a ghost lives inside of it; because of that, everyone would usually avoid this spot and Zrelekai had positioned a single camera, so it was impossible for the guards to spot them.
"Perfect, Darian, you should do it here," said Tyel as he pointed towards a small place hidden by what seemed to be the entrance to the basement of the old house.
"We'll stay here," said Liro as he grabbed Snowy and walked behind the others, while Darian walked towards the place. "Don't worry, I've studied for this the whole night… I will not fail."
Darian positioned the vibration core right on the place, which was perfectly one meter, and he pressed the trigger and the liquid was shot immediately.
'Perfect… Rusty told me to remain exactly 3 seconds on this spot…' but without noticing, Darian had completely missed the time and the wall started to shake. "Tyel, didn't you say that we would be al—" these were the last words Darian could say before the wall completely collapsed on top of the group.
"Déjà Veil."
"Ouch… getting hit by a boulder on my head surely hits hard…" whispered Tyel as he found himself on the bed with his head slightly hurting and his body that had just started to bleed.
"Well, I don't remember where he might have missed… in case, I'll make him explain the whole process to me tomorrow so we will do that without any problem." With that, Tyel, after getting brutally murdered by a boulder on his head, began to sleep once again.
"You want to know the process?" asked Darian, surprised. Tyel nodded his head.
"Yeah, in the future I've seen, we'll end up badly; at least let us help you," said Tyel while the group was walking in the empty streets of Ardoris.
"I need to press the trigger exactly 3 seconds on a single point, not more than that; if it is more, the wall will collapse, and if it isn't enough, it will be too hard for us to break," said Darian.
"Well, even if it is slightly hard, I can always smash it with my power, not that I have any problem," said Vane as he clashed his two fists together.
'Oh, then that is why it collapsed the last time…' thought Tyel while walking with the group towards the hidden spot.
As they arrived, Liro grabbed once again Snowy, and now Tyel positioned himself nearby Darian. 'I don't want to die in that way again… please don't fail now,' thought Tyel as he started to count the exact seconds Darian pressed with the vibration core on each spot.
The whole group remained silent; Darian counted 2.5 seconds while Tyel counted 3 seconds. If Darian lost count, there was always Tyel who would help him, and as they realized it before, fewer seconds was better than more seconds.
"And… done!" said Darian while he started to sweat. As the whole group got closer, everyone noticed that the small arch created by Darian looked different than the rest of the wall.
"Vane, you can go, it's your turn now," said Darian as he got away. Tyel remained nearby the wall while Vane turned into a buffalo and got ready to pierce into this place.
"Oh, you don't even need to say it, let's go!" With that, Vane used his paws to smash the part of the wall, and after the second hit, the first cracks could be seen in the stone.
"Don't do it too hard, Vane…" said Tyel, scared that if the wall collapsed, he would have to start all of this once again. Vane nodded his head and gave another two powerful hits until the wall was finally smashed and the passage had been created.
"I can't believe it… we're actually free…" The first one to speak the moment the hole was opened was Orechin, who couldn't believe what had just happened.
