"Yeah, Liro, right before we're going to pass through the tunnel, remember to let one of your illusions pass through it, at least we'll know if someone is watching us," said Darian as he was sitting next to Liro with Snowy curled up on his shoulder.
Lily remained next to Darian and Liro as she heard about their plans, nodding her head curiously at what they were saying. Vane was totally different from them; he was currently snoring on the sofa, while both Syrmax and Orechin were minding their own business as they listened to Liro and Darian's plan.
The moment the group heard someone coming down the stairs, they immediately turned quiet. "Tyel, is that you?" asked Orechin as he recognized the sound of the steps. After a small silence, Tyel came through the door and was greeted by everyone in surprise.
"Are you already here, Tyel? Did something happen?" asked Syrmax as he adjusted his monocle at the sight of Tyel, who immediately took a seat.
Right before going out of his house, Tyel had looked at the knife on the kitchen counter; he had closed the door that was now half-open and went toward the knife. The object, unlike in the other timeline, was clean, as there had never been any blood on it, and it had remained there untouched for the whole night.
Tyel grabbed the knife and looked at it carefully. 'Bringing this with me will help me… in case things become bad, I can always kill myself to revert the day.' Tyel carefully positioned the knife back into his pocket and walked outside the house.
'I've already decided to tell them a lie… I can never reveal my true power.' Tyel had spent the whole night thinking about whether he should tell everyone else that he could go back in time, but the thought made him so scared that it was hard for him to open up to the others.
'They might look at me with different eyes than usual…' Tyel realized that the rebels might look at him with horror in their eyes; thinking about the fact that the man in front of them had died countless times just to get to them could make them afraid.
'And they don't seem like the people to act like that, but…' The moment Tyel went down the street, his body immediately shook in fear. 'They could say, "Tyel, go into that room for us, even if you die, you'll tell us in your next loop what you found there." This will turn me into a tool…'
As Tyel kept walking, his expression changed from a fearful one to a serious look. 'I will tell them that my power is that I can look into the future… at least they will not see me with fear in their eyes…' Suddenly, Tyel stopped and looked directly into the sky with a big smile.
'And just as everyone sees Timehors with joy and hope, they will see me in the same way. They will see me like my favorite hero… who saves everyone unconditionally.' Tyel kept walking until he finally arrived in front of the boxes hiding the base.
"I'll be honest and direct… we should not go on the mission today," said Tyel. Hearing these words, everyone else immediately turned their heads toward Tyel, confused, as they couldn't believe what they had just heard.
Vane, who was sleeping a few moments before Tyel's arrival, had just woken up as well; hearing those words made him open his eyes in surprise. "What? I just woke up and I'm hearing thi—ahhh," said Vane, half-asleep; not realizing what was happening, he fell on the floor.
At this sight, everyone would usually have laughed softly, but now that Tyel had said those words, everyone was serious. "What?" was the only word able to come out of Orechin's mouth, as he couldn't believe what he had just heard.
"What are you saying, Tyel? Have you gone out of your mind?" asked Liro, confused. Tyel immediately opened his hand and pointed it toward the group.
"I'm not crazy, I'm saying this based on actual proof." Hearing these words, their expressions turned from confusion to a serious and curious look.
"What? Proof? What are you going to say?" asked Orechin as he sat back down, having now decided to hear what Tyel was about to say.
Tyel remained silent for a few seconds before actually answering. 'Okay, Tyel… think about how they will see you with hope in their eyes, just like everyone does with Timehors,' he thought before speaking.
"Last night, I couldn't sleep because I was too excited about what was about to happen, and that's when it happened…" he said. Suddenly, the faces of everyone changed. Orechin and Darian understood what he wanted to say, while the others remained confused by what he was about to say.
"I've awakened my power… I can look into the future." Hearing these words, everyone gained a look that Tyel had never seen before; it felt as if the people looking at him were trusting him with their own lives, showing an admiration for him exactly like how people feel when looking at Timehors.
"And what did you see?" asked Orechin, his heart starting to beat faster, scared of what Tyel was about to tell them.
"Ashikunz knew about our arrival, the scene of all of us dying kept playing in my mind…" said Tyel as he clenched his fists on his legs and looked down. "Catripple is the bait… they would have never killed her. It's because we arrived that Ashikunz cut off her head… and he launched it directly toward your feet," said Tyel as he looked directly at Orechin, trying not to break down in tears.
Orechin slowly got up from his chair and walked toward Tyel silently. The moment he arrived in front of him, he immediately hugged him as hard as he could. "Your power actually awakened when there was a need… you're actually like a hero, Tyel," he said while he hugged Tyel tightly.
"I agree… the thought of all of us dying…" said Liro as he started to shake in fear. "I'm glad we've been able to live thanks to you, Tyel," added Liro as he smiled warmly.
"Woah, you can look into the future?" shouted Vane as he jumped down from the sofa and immediately rushed toward Tyel. Orechin, noticing the others wanting to speak with Tyel, slowly stopped hugging him.
"Exactly. I was able to see how you all died… and maybe you wouldn't want to hear that," said Tyel, making it obvious that the thought made him scared.
"Oh, I don't care about that… I want to see if you can say what I'm about to say," said Vane as he looked directly into Tyel's eyes.
"Hey, that's right! If you can see the future, saying what we're going to say in a few seconds will not be a problem for you, right?" asked Lily as she got next to Tyel, too, curious about his power.
They want me to prove it? thought Tyel. He hadn't created any way to protect his own lie in case of this. "It would be helpful. If you've just unlocked your power, it means that you still need to practice it, right? We can help you," Orechin offered.
"And to use my power, I need to know in how many seconds you're going to say these words… so you know I can look directly into that moment," said Tyel as he looked away, realizing that this lie might not work forever.
"We're going to say it in ten seconds, right?" said Orechin. Everyone else nodded and remained silent.
Tyel closed his eyes and began to think about how he could save himself. 'Let's think… I need to understand what they're about to say in less than ten seconds…' As he thought, Tyel remembered the knife in his pocket.
'It might scare them to see me cut my head off… but at least I'll answer their questions in the next timeline.' With this thought in mind, Tyel remained silent, and after a few seconds, he opened his eyes.
"Do you need to say the name of the spell, or do you prefer to remain quiet?" asked Orechin, wanting to say his word to see if Tyel would be able to guess it.
'Oh, right, the spell… let's just say… Future… Future Look, yeah, that works,' thought Tyel, having come up with a false name for a false spell he would never actually be able to use.
"Future Look…" he said while pointing his hand forward. Everyone else gasped in surprise. The moment he opened his eyes again, he smiled warmly.
"You, Vane, were about to say 'sleep.' You, Lily, were about to say 'sky.' And you, Orechin… you would have said 'eyes.'" The moment he finished speaking, everyone looked at him, confused.
"Were those the words?" whispered Liro as he got closer. Everyone else shook their heads.
"I was about to say 'eagle'…" said Vane, looking slightly disappointed.
"And I was about to say 'sarcodes'… which is a flower I found in the old diary…" said Lily, starting to question if Tyel's power was actually real.
"And I was about to say 'blue'… Tyel, did you have a problem with the use of your power?" asked Orechin as he looked Tyel directly in the eyes. His expression completely changed; from someone who looked at him with surprise and hope, he became someone who stopped believing his words.
"Oh, right, right… eagle, sarcodes, and blue…" murmured Tyel as he slowly grabbed the knife in his pocket. Everyone looked at him, confused.
"Don't worry, guys, I'll not forget these words in my next timeline." The moment Tyel positioned the knife near his throat, everyone looked at him in shock.
"Hey, what? What are you do—" A confused Orechin tried to stop Tyel, who was about to cut off his own head, but he didn't arrive in time, and Tyel's head flew off.
"Déjà Veil."
"Ahh!!" Tyel found himself back in his bed, and now he noticed that his vision had become blurry.
'It feels like every time I return, my soul gets worse…' thought Tyel. With this thought, he felt more relaxed, realizing that he was using his soul to cast magic and was facing the same problems as anyone else.
'But that means I can't always kill myself whenever there is a need… I don't want to reach the final stage, so I'll pay more attention.' With that, Tyel closed his eyes again. 'And I still remember their words: eagle, sarcodes, and blue. As long as I keep doing everything like last time, they will say the same words.'
"And so, you were all about to say 'eagle' for Vane, 'sarcodes' for Lily, and 'blue' for Orechin." The moment he finished speaking, he had a proud look on his face. Lily, Vane, and Orechin, hearing his words, immediately became surprised.
"Woah, he actually said the right words…" pointed out Vane, who couldn't believe what had just happened. He felt like a child who had just seen a magician doing a trick with cards.
"Woah, and can you tell what I'm about to say, too?" said Darian excitedly. Tyel, before speaking, immediately positioned his hand over his forehead.
"I would love to say that… but every time I use my power, I get a really strong headache and I can't use it for a long time. I guess you'll have to wait," said Tyel. Darian's face turned slightly sad.
"Well, don't worry; I'm sure another time he will be able to do the same for us, too," said Liro as he positioned his hands on Darian's shoulders from behind.
"Still, you've said that they will not kill Catripple… is that right, Tyel?" asked Syrmax, who had remained silent until now.
"Exactly," answered Tyel, nodding. "In the future I saw, Ashikunz didn't tell us, but it felt as if they had a sort of camera that would tell them when we'd arrive," he added.
"They've definitely positioned that before the entrance… then going through that hole is completely out of the question, right?" asked Orechin. Everyone else nodded.
"They've prepared the entrance for us, but we will not use that; we will use the one I'll be able to create thanks to my power," said Tyel. Everyone looked slightly confused, as they didn't understand how it would be possible for him to create a hole.
"Oh, I will simply see the possible futures, and I'll lead you through the one where the guards won't stop us," he said. As he started to sweat, everyone realized what he meant, and Tyel was finally able to calm himself down.
"Then when do you think we can start, Tyel? I know you've said it will be alright for Catripple, but I still feel a bit of anxiety…" said Orechin. He fully trusted Tyel, especially now that he had his power, but he still couldn't be fully sure.
"Don't worry, Orechin. I promise you that with my power, I'll be able to lead us all to victory," said Tyel, looking at Orechin with confidence.
