As Darian took the step inside the tower, everything around him started to change, it looked like the wall had been crushed down with time and the debris on the floor helped the group go down safely.
"Woah… this feels amazing…" whispered Liro near a broken desk, even this small thing was enough to make him excited and amazed, "eheh and the higher we go, the better things we find!" said Lily as she started to go towards the stairs, waiting for the others to finish seeing around.
"This feels boring… where are the good stuff?" said Vane clearly annoyed, nothing here made him interested, this room was all dark and there wasn't anything important to see.
"I think these were offices…" said Darian as he went around, the remains of the ruined room looked exactly like some offices, even if most of the desks were totally destroyed, and there were multiple paper scraps on the ground.
Darian picked up one of them, "I can't even tell what is written here…" whispered him as he tried to see what was written, but he soon realized that it wasn't anything important.
"Shouldn't we try to move these rocks?" said Vane as he got closer to the stair that seemed like it brought on the first floor of the tower.
"I have tried it multiple times with my power… but it felt impossible" said Lily gasping at the end of the sentence.
"Darian come and help me!" said Vane as he got closer to the rubble, "I'm comingg!!" said Darian as he left a small jewelry made of gold on the desk, it was an earring, Darian thought that it probably got left by a woman.
"C'mon Snowy" said Darian, Snowy still on his shoulder, nodded with his head and fused into his right arm. Both Darian and Vane tried to move the big rocks, but it was almost impossible, the rocks weren't even moving an inch.
"Maybe there is something blocking that" whispered Vane breathing heavily, "should you try to smash them?" asked Darian, Vane nodded.
"Alright" said him, Darian slowly walked away and Snowy came down from his body, while Vane turned into a buffalo and smashed his head against that rock.
As Vane smashed his horns against the rock, nothing had happened, the rock was still intact, without a single scratch, "Ouch" said Vane as his head felt dizzy.
"What Vane? Why couldn't you break that?" asked Darian wondering what material that rock was made of, was there a material that could resist such a powerful hit?
"I dunno… but I think this rock has been created with magic" said Vane as he returned to normal, "I'm able to destroy many rocks, but my problem has always been the ones created with magic" said Vane as he turned towards Lily.
"Do you think someone could have created this to stop the passage?" asked Vane, Lily nodded confused, "It is plausible, especially because the mayor of Yalemba is someone who could use earth magic."
"I wonder if he created this by himself to protect something" whispered Darian looking at the weird rock.
"Guys… I think I found something important" said Liro, everyone turned towards him and immediately reached him, "What is it Liro?" asked Darian walking faster than the others.
"Read this…" Liro gave the paper to Darian who started to read it aloud.
"First day of the experiment… ah we are so happy to start this new experiment, the creature came directly at us, I can't believe it! We will discover many new things, hoping that the lab rat will not be a problem" the paper got brutally ripped apart, and near there wasn't any other paper part that could help continue the paper.
"What experiment are they talking about?" asked Vane confused, "I can't tell… it's difficult" said Darian as he kept analyzing the paper, but nothing else was written on it.
"Oh I have already seen many other things about this experiment thing… if I remember correctly it is called the White Wings Project" said Lily, Darian slowly folded the paper and put it in his pockets.
"Should we search for the others?" asked Darian, his eyes were caught by a machine that cut the papers, inside of it he still saw many other scraps of paper, "guess we won't find anything more here…"
"For me it is alright" said Liro getting up from his knee, "then let's go!!" said Lily leading again the way, everyone followed her from behind.
As they reached the next room, it looked like a sort of laboratory, there were multiple beakers, in one of them there was something really strange, it looked like it had been burned up, because there was a hole in the middle of it while it was charred all around.
"weird… this stuff was really rare during my times" said Darian looking at the beaker, it was exactly of the resistant material of his time, they couldn't be burned down this easily.
"Does it feel strange Darian? I have seen multiple of these things with many holes or ruined" said Lily as she walked closer to Darian who looked a bit confused. "The beakers are usually made of glass, but humanity found a way to make them ultra resistant to almost everything, even the strongest acid" whispered Darian as he slowly left the beaker again on the table.
"What is this weird ash?" said Vane looking directly into a syringe, Darian got closer to him, "This should be…" Darian slowly took the syringe in his hand to see what it looked like.
The ash was of a really dark red, it was similar to brown too. Darian slowly tried to open the container to smell it, but the ash didn't make a single smell, Darian tried to move his finger into the syringe to feel it, but as soon as his hands touched it, the ash disintegrated into multiple parts.
"So? Have you got something in mind?" asked Vane looking together with Darian in the syringe, Darian shook his head, "It's too hard to tell, it could literally be everything" Darian slowly closed again the syringe and put it in his backpack, "I hope that Rusty will be able to tell me what this thing is."
In this room there were mostly beakers, many of them were totally ruined while the others were still perfectly intact, "Why would some of them break like this while the others are still perfectly fine?" asked Liro, "I can't tell, it feels like they wanted to destroy them on purpose" said Darian as he looked directly over a beaker that had its upper half melted.
"I think there aren't any papers about the White Wings Project" said Lily, everyone nodded and they reached the next floor. This next floor had what it seemed like to be old remains of some huge servers.
This room was at least 13 feet tall, on a part of the wall, there was this huge box made of old scrapped metal, on the ground there were multiple copper wires on the ground, many of them, the right moment the party got too close, turned into ash.
"What is this…" said Liro with amazed eyes, he had never seen anything like this, on the ground there were what it seemed like to be some old microchip, around one of the metal boxes there was so much glass on the ground that it was literally impossible to get closer.
In the room there were multiple holes around, Darian and the others needed to be careful as they walked around the room.
"I think this was a sort of controlling room" said Darian as he walked closer towards the huge metal box, "I think this was a really huge server, man servers this big were rare even during my time" said him, the server was really huge, it could easily contain a lot of information, as Darian turned around he saw everyone's faces confused, their faces were saying 'what even is a server?'.
"I'll explain to you one day" said Darian turning around and taking a microchip into his hands, the chip on the outside was still intact, "Mhmmm they were pretty new even during my time" whispered Darian as he carefully put it on the ground again.
Darian noticed that Vane had a sort of computer that from behind it looked still intact, but as Darian tried to see the screen, it was all shattered and around ¾ of the keyboard was missing. The screen had a huge crack, while the pc was all shattered and there weren't even any more parts inside of it.
"What's this supposed to be?" asked Vane trying to figure out the use for this weird thing, he took into his hand the button of the letter A and slowly touched it before brutally smashing it on the table.
Darian looked at him confused, "I wanted to see if it works" said Vane annoyed, "By the way this is a computer, or at least what remained of it" said Darian as he pressed a button, trying to turn it on, but with an obvious fail.
"I'll go search for something else" said Vane before closing the pc with his hand, he moved it too fast and the pc completely crashed into pieces, Vane didn't even notice that and simply thought, 'I guess that's normal'.
'Is there around a memory? Maybe they saved something around…' thought Darian as he checked into the drawer of the desks, he found an old CD, but it was divided in half. In the same drawer he found a USB key, it had the shape of a lion, it was made of metal so it was still intact.
"I hope this will still work" whispered Darian as he put the USB key into his backpack, "Darian come here!!!" shouted Liro in the other room, Darian immediately went towards him.
"What do you need Liro?" asked Darian as he kneeled down near to him, Liro was next to a big rock that fell down on the desk in front of him, still Liro seemed like he found something strange, it was transparent like glass, but it was more resistant. The thing Liro had on his hand had the shape of a square plate, "I don't think it is glass, have you already seen something like this?" asked Liro giving Darian the thing.
"Wait I recognize it!" shouted Darian, everyone else heard him, Lily was in another room searching for other papers about the project, while Vane was watching outside the tower, all of them gathered into the room where Liro and Darian were in, "Found something?" asked Vane with an excited voice, he was getting bored watching outside the tower.
"Yeah… we might have good information about this project, it's all inside this" said Darian showing to everyone the hard glass plate, "This is a quartz data storage, thanks to this we might be able to find something more" said Darian, everyone looked excited.
"Good job Liro" said Darian patting Liro's head who was still kneeled down next to him.
"I didn't find anything else interesting, should we go to the next room?" asked Lily, everyone else behind her agreed and with that they left behind the room with the computers and went towards the next room.
