"Bastard, you are taking revenge from earlier, right?" a woman screamed as she exorcised the curse that was attacking her.
"But what did I do? I was defending you, and why does only Megumi get to do nothing?" a man also screamed as he kicked off the curse that was attacking him.
But I wasn't minding them at all as I was slowly savoring the nostalgia. "You know, Megumi, this graveyard was where I got my first kill along with my two cousins. It was a wild day; I still remember it like yesterday."
"Bastard, help us." Some in the background scream at someone.
"This is also where I awakened my Binding Vow and exorcised a Grade 1 curse. Those were crazy days; I genuinely thought I was going to die. If not for that vow, I probably would have—at the time, all I had at my disposal was projection sorcery."
"Naoya-senpai, a little help! At least send Megumi for support," a male voice shouted in the background. Honestly, there are so many pedestrians around these days; a guy can't even catch up with old friends at a graveyard without being interrupted.
"And you know," I continued, ignoring the ruckus, "instead of a celebration for defeating a Grade 1 curse, the next thing I did after waking up from bed rest was fight my uncle. I expected an epic showdown—I wasn't even a Grade 1 sorcerer yet, and he was a seasoned veteran—but I just dropped a pillar on his head. He ended up bedridden for a year. How sad is my life."
"Alright, you batshit crazy bastard, you don't look like a potato at all, you pettiest bastard." It was then I noticed that the pedestrians that were attacked by the curse were none other than Yuji and Nobara.
"God damn it, Megumi, you should have told me that they are getting overwhelmed by a curse; go help them. Nobara! Yuji! Wait a minute! Megumi is on his way. You two should have let me know you were struggling instead of staying silent; remember, in the world of Jujutsu sorcerers, pride is a death sentence," I told them calmly as I instructed Megumi to go help them.
Megumi looked at me like I was a crazy person but started summoning his dogs for attack.
"We told you, you crazy bastard."
Kids these days are so much more understanding; look at Nobara, who was still silent even after I shouted at them. Truly, they are model students.
Looking at Naoya's smiling face, who disregarded Nobara's every remark, her thumb began to rise in anger. "God damn it." She picked a curse by the head and threw it at Naoya, to which he simply side-stepped.
---
Nobara and Yuji collapsed to the ground, heaving as they gasped for air. Sweat soaked through their clothes, and the sheer exhaustion etched onto their faces was unmistakable. In contrast, Megumi remained composed, his composure intact since he had only stepped into the fray once the situation had already peaked.
I already removed the curtain; because of that, the warmth of the sun has already filled the surroundings.
Am I taking revenge for earlier? The answer is no. Well, technically a small portion, but the large portion is to prepare them for how overwhelming a battle can get, and I also wanted to check their breaking point from which the mistake started to become very noticeable. From what I see, for them it was half an hour.
I haven't tested Megumi's limit, which I plan to do on a later date, as if I added Megumi to Nobara and Yuji, they wouldn't reach such a state this quickly, as Megumi is a good supporter, and years of training with Gojo also give Megumi a very sharp combat sense, which Yuji lacked and Nobara has in a small amount.
I need to train them well. I thought to myself. Since the future is not going to wait, whether I like it or not, they all are going to be the epicenter of shitstorms that are going to happen, but before that, I need to punch them into shape. Megumi is okay, but Yuji and Nobara...
While Nobara was a sorcerer prior to joining Jujutsu High, she was from the countryside because she only had experience with weak, unintelligent curses, but this is the heart of the city, so the negative energy is all over the place, giving birth to the vilest of curses here.
The core issue, however, wasn't just their lack of city experience; it was my own incompetence as a mentor. I lack both the credentials and the pedagogical finesse required for instruction. While I had previously trained Maki and Mai, that was purely physical conditioning—a far cry from the nuanced guidance they need now.
Well, that's all for future me, but currently...
"You've all done remarkably well for your first day. Dinner is on me, and then we can take a tour of Tokyo by night. What do you say?"
As if their exhaustion were fake, both Yuji and Nobara jumped up from the ground. "Oh yes, Tokyo!Tokyo!Tokyo!" And they started cheering.
"Ha, these single-minded fools," Megumi murmured, although it was their first time meeting after the fight; they all looked close to a certain degree.
