Chapter 65 - Ch 65: Talk with Maki

"Hey, Maki-san, during the fight in the abandoned school, you asked me why I became a Jujutsu sorcerer. Can you tell me why you became a Jutusu sorcerer?"Yuta asked as he was training with Maki in the group.

Next to them, Panda and Inumaki were also doing their own training on a different side of the ground, but they were close enough to hear what Yuta said, and without missing a beat, Panda answered.

"Because Miss Cool Face here is in love with blockhead Naoya."

Hearing that, Yuta looked at Maki like he couldn't believe Maki was in love with someone because she always behaved in an unconventional way, like literally beating him up to pulp, and he still remembered the slap across him inside the curse's stomach.

"Is that true, Maki-san?" Yuta asked for confirmation from Maki, who was looking at Panda with a sharp gaze.

"How many times have I told you, Panda, he is not a blockhead? He is just slow sometimes." Then she looked at Yuta. "Is it that surprising?"

To which Yuta nodded, "You didn't..." Yuta thinks about what would be the correct word, which wouldn't offend Maki and beat him up, "...look like the type."

Yuta in his heart sincerely hoped Maki wouldn't make him do 20 laps around the ground for this.

"Haha, he said you aren't lady type." Panda added with a laugh.

"Salmon." Inumaki also gives a muffled laugh.

Without minding two goofies, Maki looked at Yuta. "While it is true Naoya has a large part of me becoming a sorcerer, that is not the only reason. It was one of my dreams to become strong enough to put my clan in their place with my own strength. And of course, if I become strong, I can also manhandle Naoya and drag him to the bedroom and have my way with him. Tck, he is too strong for his own good."

Hearing Maki, who talks to him with zero shame or change in expression, like, in the future this will happen whether he likes it or not, Yuta only has one thought in mind.

This girl is crazy. God bless Naoya for his future endeavor.

"You scare poor Yuta." As Panda said that, he saw Gojo and Naoya walking towards them. "Poor guy," Panda had his pity for Naoya for dipping his hands in one crazy, "I think it's best for him to dense about feelings."

"Salmon." Inumaki shared Panda's sentiment.

---

Several months had passed since the incident at the abandoned elementary school, and Yuta Okkotsu could confidently say one thing with absolute certainty:

Maki Zenin was a demon and batshit crazy, which he came to know is because of Naoya, who was drill trainer for both her and her sister, whose existence he naturally came to know during the past month.

And from Panda's and Inumaki's words, Maki-san's sister is also the same as her. He once again prayed for Naoya-san health.

And Maki being a demon is not a joke; she literally was in physical senses, No ordinary human should have been capable of swinging a wooden practice spear hard enough to crater the training grounds while simultaneously insulting someone's footwork, posture, breathing, and bloodline within the same sentence. Yet every morning without fail, Maki dragged Yuta across the training fields and beat technique into him with merciless efficiency.

The katana Gojo-sensei had given him became both Yuta's greatest weapon and his greatest source of suffering. Unlike ordinary swords, the blade responded exceptionally well to cursed energy flow, allowing Yuta to channel power directly through it. In theory, that sounded amazing.

In practice, Maki repeatedly used it as justification to hit him harder.

"No, idiot," she snapped one afternoon while effortlessly knocking his sword from his hands for what felt like the hundredth time. "You're overthinking every swing again."

Yuta winced while rubbing his wrist.

"I'm trying not to accidentally release too much cursed energy."

"And because of that, your body stiffens before every strike." Maki pointed her spear at him. "A sword isn't just cursed energy. Your stance matters. Your center of gravity matters. Timing matters."

Yuta sighed tiredly before retrieving the katana from the dirt.

"…You sound exactly like Gojo-sensei when you lecture."

Maki's face immediately twisted in disgust. "Don't compare me to that idiot."

"Then you sound just like Naoya-san." Hearing this, Maki would sometimes give him the break he deserved. He was happy that he learned about Maki-san's reverse scale.

Unfortunately for Yuta, intense physical training was only half his suffering. Gojo regularly appeared during sparring sessions solely to offer unhelpful commentary while eating snacks nearby.

"Yuta! Less dying, more winning!"

"Sensei, that advice means nothing!"

"I believe in you!"

"You're watching her beat me with a stick!"

"Character development!"

Despite the constant chaos, however, Yuta improved rapidly. His control over cursed energy sharpened, his reaction speed increased dramatically, and his swordsmanship slowly evolved from clumsy panic swinging into something resembling actual combat skill. More importantly, he stopped freezing under pressure. Fear still existed, but now he could move through it instead of being consumed by it.

That growth was precisely why several months later, Gojo assigned him another field mission. This time alongside Toge Inumaki.
