Chapter 50 - Ch 50: Gojo Satoru

Gojo Satoru, without a doubt, is the face of the modern JJK world. His mere birth altered the global equilibrium of cursed energy. As the first person in 400 years to inherit both the Six Eyes and the Limitless cursed technique, he serves as the "strongest sorcerer of the modern era," acting as a one-man deterrent against cursed spirits and a disruptive force within jujutsu politics.

And since he is the head of the Gojo clan, his political power rivals anyone of his age category, which often made him able to ignore orders of the "Conservative Faction" of the jujutsu headquarters. After his awakening during the fight with Toji Zenin, he is, without doubt, the one-man army.

Why am I blabbering about Gojo Satoru anyway? Some might ask why that would be because I am in front of him, drinking a coffee. At my side was Mei Mei; her eyes were twinkling. I didn't know why she dragged me with her to meet Gojo.

She told me it was good to be acquainted with the most popular Jujutsu sorcerer.

I looked at Gojo with passive interest. Satoru is a very tall, lean, and muscular man in his late twenties. He has snow-white hair and the Six Eyes, which are a vibrant blue color. He covers his eyes with a black blindfold, which props up his hair and gives it a spikier appearance.

My overall verdict: Not that good-looking. I say he is just above average on a good day.

"I feel jealousy in the air." Gojo looked at me as he said that.

"Must be the wind," I replied.

For exactly two seconds, there was complete silence at the table. Then Gojo slowly lowered his coffee cup, his covered eyes facing directly toward me as if he could somehow see straight through my skull.

Then his lips slowly curved upward.

"Oh?" Gojo leaned back in his chair, one arm lazily draped over the backrest while the other kept holding his cup. "That's a pretty bold answer coming from a kid who's been making headlines lately."

At my side, Mei Mei covered her mouth with her sleeve, though judging by the slight tremble of her shoulders, she was clearly enjoying this. Her eyes kept moving between me and Gojo like she was watching a very profitable stock market battle. Given that Gojo is head of the Gojo clan and I am the next head, dollar-eyes is justified. But her investment in me is going south.

I calmly took another sip of my coffee before placing the cup down with deliberate slowness to assert my own pressure. "Bold? I thought we were just talking about weather patterns."

Gojo suddenly laughed.

"Hahaha! I like this kid." Gojo pointed directly at me. "Most people either freeze when they meet me or start kissing my ass. You, on the other hand…" He tilted his head slightly. "You look disappointed."

I shrugged. "I expected more."

Mei Mei nearly spat out her coffee.

Even Gojo paused for a second.

"…Excuse me?"

I leaned back in my chair, crossing my arms like I owned the café but with my kid body, this would just be consider chūnibyō. "You're called the strongest, the one-man army, the balance of the modern world, the walking disaster, the honored one…" I waved my hand vaguely. "I expected some dramatic aura. Maybe lightning. Maybe the ground is cracking beneath your feet. But even your entrance was ordinary. Tck. Tck."

Gojo stared at me then looked at Mei Mei.

"…Do I really not have that?"

Mei Mei immediately joined the conversation with a smile. "You do have presence, Gojo-san."

Gojo pointed at her. "See? She gets it."

I took another sip of coffee; I can't abandon the sophisticated act now. I will drink this coffee even if it's the only cup left. I am that committed. "She also charges people for breathing near her." God, this coffee is bitter. I should have ordered milk coffee.

"That's called good business," Mei Mei corrected.

"That's called robbery."

"That depends on the client."

Gojo suddenly started laughing again. "Okay, now I really like you."

"You will go to jail if you say words like that," I said to Gojo.

Then Gojo suddenly spoke again.

"You know…" He tilted his head slightly. "When I heard the Zenin clan sent a fourteen-year-old to fight a special grade, I thought they were trying to get rid of you."

I shrugged. "They probably were. Too bad their pride is as much as their vision, both bad."

"Hahaha! You really are fun."
