KaShiranui Kūzu had no choice but to widen the distance.
He switched to long-range attacks through his Earth Grudge Fear masks, but each attempt was swiftly blocked by Yamato's Wood Release defenses.
Meanwhile — Hidan's Side
Hidan wasn't having an easy time either.
The coordinated combo of the Ino–Shika–Chō Trio left him constantly on the defensive.
When Ino successfully struck him with Mind Transfer Technique, one of KaShiranui Kūzu's Earth Grudge Fear masks immediately attacked Hidan to force her out. Ino was compelled to withdraw.
In the end, Hidan traded severe injuries for a minor wound on Asuma — but he had succeeded in obtaining Asuma's blood.
Using that blood, Hidan drew a ritual symbol on the ground — a circle enclosing a triangle.
"Hahaha! You're now under Lord Jashin's judgment!"
Asuma frowned, not fully understanding.
He immediately used:
"Fire Release: Burning Ash!"
Thick ash filled the air.
Hidan made no effort to dodge or defend — he simply watched calmly.
Asuma snapped his teeth together, igniting the ash cloud.
Boom.
"Curse Technique: Death Controlling Possessed Blood."
The ash detonated in intense heat.
When the smoke cleared, black-and-white markings covered Hidan's body. He was visibly burned — yet at the same time, Asuma clutched his own body in pain, bearing identical injuries.
Everyone was shocked.
Only Shikamaru remained composed, analyzing Hidan's earlier movements.
After a moment's deduction, his gaze fell on the ritual circle.
"That symbol… that's the key!"
He immediately used Shadow Possession Technique, restraining Hidan and attempting to drag him out of the circle—
"Lightning Release: False Darkness!"
The Lightning Release mask unleashed a piercing spear of lightning, sweeping across the battlefield.
Shikamaru was caught off guard and struck. The shadow connection snapped.
"Damn it!!"
His pupils trembled.
"Hahaha! Now you'll experience the best feeling ever!"
Hidan drove his black spear straight toward his own heart.
Shikamaru tried again with Shadow Possession.
Ino activated Mind Transfer.
Choji expanded his body with Expansion Jutsu.
But Hidan was faster.

The spear pierced through Hidan's heart.
He shuddered in perverse delight.
"So good~"
"Asuma!!!"
Shikamaru scrambled toward his teacher.
Asuma blinked in confusion, clutching his chest.
"Huh? I'm… fine?"
Shikamaru face-planted mid-sprint.
"…What? Did I deduce it wrong?"
Even Hidan was stunned.
"Hey! What's going on?! Why aren't you— What happened?!"
The black-and-white markings faded from Hidan's body.
"Contract Seal."
Hidan stiffened and turned his head.
Behind him stood Karin, her palm pressed firmly against his back. Black sealing formula spread across his body.
"Just as Shin predicted," she said calmly. "You're using a blood-contract–type forbidden technique. By ingesting your opponent's blood, you form a ritual link that transfers damage between both parties."
"You—!"
Hidan didn't fully grasp the explanation, but he understood one thing:
His Curse Technique: Death Controlling Possessed Blood had been nullified.
Boom!
Karin sent him flying with a single punch.
He crashed through several trees before collapsing into the forest.
Seeing this, KaShiranui Kūzu realized the 35 million ryō bounty was likely lost today.
He unleashed Wind and Fire Release attacks to disrupt the Leaf shinobi, then retreated to retrieve Hidan.

The masked man spoke first.
"I didn't expect you to arrive so quickly, KaShiranui Kūzu. Saves me the trouble of inviting you."
"Invite? Hmph. Sounds more like you're here to pick a fight."
KaShiranui Kūzu didn't hesitate.
"Earth Grudge Fear: Final Shot!"
He gathered the Wind, Fire, and Lightning masks into his right arm and fired a devastating chakra cannon.
"So we can't talk peacefully, then."
"Water Release: Water Shield!"
A massive wall of water blocked the blast.
"Water Release: Severing Wave!"
A high-pressure stream shot from the masked man's hand, instantly piercing KaShiranui Kūzu and sweeping sideways, destroying his right arm.
Three of KaShiranui Kūzu's hearts were obliterated.
Even his final heart was gravely damaged.
Water whips bound both KaShiranui Kūzu and Hidan.
The masked man removed their Akatsuki rings.
Then—
Flying Thunder God Technique.
He vanished with both of them.
Moments later, Asuma's and Yamato's squads arrived.
"Karin, where are they now?"
"I can't tell. Their chakra signatures vanished here."
"Space–Time Ninjutsu…? What a pain."
There was nothing more they could do.
They retrieved ChiriShiranui Kū's body and returned to report to the Hokage.
