The cold rain drenched Evelyn's thin coat as she stood in front of the massive Thorne Empire building. Her heart was racing. She had only one goal tonight: to save her family from total ruin. She took a deep breath and stepped inside.
Inside the top-floor office, the air was silent and smelled of expensive sandalwood. Alexander Thorne, the city's most ruthless billionaire, sat behind his mahogany desk. His eyes were as sharp and cold as ice.
"You're late, Evelyn," Alexander said without looking up. His voice was deep and commanding.
"I... I have the documents you asked for," Evelyn whispered, her hands trembling.
