Chapter 57: Wake-Up Service

After settling the thoroughly exhausted Minami Rika into bed, Suyan glanced at the sky outside. Dawn was just beginning to break. He checked the clock on the wall; it was 6:52 AM, mere minutes away from seven o'clock.

However, unlike the others, Suyan didn't choose to sleep. Instead, he turned and headed straight into the kitchen to start preparing breakfast.

Thanks to his awakened Nen abilities, coupled with the boundless vitality of his youth, he didn't feel the slightest bit of physical or mental fatigue despite pulling an all-nighter fiercely battling both Busujima Saeko and Minami Rika.

Suyan took a moment to think.

Miyamoto Rei and Takagi Saya had stayed awake all night and had yet to learn Nen. There was no way they were getting up anytime soon, so there was no need to make them breakfast.

He would just wake them up when it was time for lunch.

Minami Rika was in a similar state.

So, realistically, he only needed to cook for four people: himself, Busujima Saeko, Marikawa Shizuka, and Takagi Yuriko.

Of course, it didn't hurt to make a little extra, just to be safe.

Having decided on the menu, Suyan quickly set to work. It didn't take long for him to finish cooking a hearty breakfast.

After neatly arranging the food on the dining table, he pushed open the door to the room where Busujima Saeko was resting.

The purple-haired girl was lying peacefully on the bed. Her brow was relaxed, and the corners of her mouth were slightly curled upward, forming a faint, contented smile in her sleep. Her sleeping posture was completely relaxed, completely devoid of her usual vigilance.

Gazing at her peaceful sleeping face, Suyan couldn't help but sigh in admiration.

No matter how deeply ingrained the bloodlust and obsession with slaughter were in her bones, the innate radiance of a young girl simply couldn't be concealed.

Just like at this very moment. Who could possibly imagine that this girl, sleeping with such an adorable expression, was the same ferocious warrior who had slaughtered thousands of zombie monsters with a blade just last night?

Seeing her like this, Suyan suddenly lost the urge to wake her up immediately.

He leaned down, resting his arms on the edge of the bed, and slowly extended a wicked hand toward the defenseless girl.

Pinching a single strand of her long purple hair between his thumb and index finger, he gently brushed it back and forth across her cheek.

The sleeping girl's brows furrowed slightly. She had clearly registered the tickling sensation of the hair sweeping across her skin.

She reached up, blindly rubbing her face in an attempt to swat away the annoying culprit.

Suyan, still intent on his prank, naturally wouldn't let her succeed. Right before her hand brushed past her cheek, he pulled the strand of hair away.

But as soon as her hand dropped back down, Suyan resumed his teasing.

After repeating this exact routine three times, Busujima Saeko finally realized something was wrong.

She opened her eyes, a flash of irritation swimming in her purple irises. She clearly had a strong case of morning crankiness.

It was only when she saw Suyan leaning over the bed, holding a lock of her hair, that the anger dissipated. It was swiftly replaced by a complex mixture of joy and a tiny hint of pouty dissatisfaction.

"Good morning, Saeko-senpai," Suyan said, showing absolutely no embarrassment at being caught red-handed. He just offered her a warm, faint smile.

"Good morning, Suyan-kouhai."

Busujima Saeko turned onto her side, propping her head up with one hand as she quietly stared at the man before her. "Is this your idea of a prankster-style wake-up service?"

"I have to admit, I'm not very satisfied with it."

"Oh? Then what kind of wake-up service would Saeko-senpai prefer?" Suyan countered.

"Compared to this childish prank, I was hoping my junior would wake me up with a kiss, just like Prince Charming kissing Snow White awake."

She blinked playfully, her purple eyes brimming with lively affection. She opened her arms wide in a welcoming gesture. "May I?"

Suyan chuckled softly, a bit surprised.

He hadn't expected Busujima Saeko to possess such a coquettish, clingy side beneath her fierce exterior and adorable sleeping face.

Naturally, he had no reason to refuse.

He gently brushed the stray hairs away from her face, leaned in, and pulled her up from the bed. Pinning his gaze on her delicate, alluring lips, he kissed her without a moment's hesitation.

After a long while, their lips finally parted. Suyan looked down at the blushing girl and asked, "Is that enough?"

"It's enough."

Busujima Saeko nodded, a lingering trace of infatuation shining in her eyes.

"If it's enough, then hurry up and get out of bed. We have breakfast waiting. Once we eat, we'll head out to kill more zombies."

The path to strength allowed for no delays.

If it were any other woman, Suyan certainly wouldn't have ruined the romantic mood with such a blunt statement. But this was Busujima Saeko.

To her, the phrase 'let's go kill zombies' was probably sweeter than saying 'let's go on a date to the amusement park.'

"Mhm," she replied softly.

"Alright, I'll go wake the others for breakfast."

With that, Suyan turned and left the room.

—————

Next, he stepped into the room shared by Marikawa Shizuka and Takagi Yuriko.

The moment he walked through the door, he was met with a deeply resentful glare.

It wasn't from anyone else—it was Takagi Yuriko, who was currently sharing the bed with Marikawa Shizuka.

Shizuka was sleeping soundly, but her sleeping posture was atrocious. She was clinging onto Takagi Yuriko like a koala, her limbs tightly wrapped around the other woman.

"You're finally here~" Takagi Yuriko said, her voice dripping with ghostly grievance.

Seeing the usually composed and calculating mature beauty looking so completely defeated, Suyan had to fight the urge to laugh out loud.

To think that such a profound and intelligent woman had been mentally broken so easily by the bubbly school nurse.

Was this the legendary 'fool defeating the master' trope?

But what Suyan didn't know was that Marikawa Shizuka was no fool. In fact, she had been quite deliberate about it.

During the early hours of the morning, while Suyan was busy fighting Minami Rika, Takagi Yuriko had repeatedly assured Shizuka that she wouldn't interfere with them.

Yet Shizuka had acted as if she couldn't hear a word, stubbornly clinging to her and insisting they sleep together.

The worst part was, perhaps because she had been a Nen user for a while, the blonde woman possessed terrifying physical strength.

If Yuriko stayed still, it was fine. But the moment she tried to break free, Shizuka's body tightened like an iron shackle, locking her completely in place.

And to make matters worse, no amount of shouting could wake the woman up.

After an entire night of this, their sleeping arrangement had devolved into its current state.

Or rather, Shizuka's sleeping arrangement. Marikawa Shizuka had slept like a baby, while Takagi Yuriko hadn't closed her eyes for a single second.

"Should I leave, then?" Suyan teased, turning his body as if preparing to walk right back out the door.

"No! Don't!"

Even though Takagi Yuriko knew he was messing with her, she couldn't help but plead, "Please, Suyan-otouto. Save your older sister."

She really couldn't take another minute of being trapped by this blonde limpet. If Suyan actually walked away, she might just die from the sheer physical discomfort.

"Alright."

Having enjoyed the amusing spectacle enough, Suyan nodded in satisfaction. He didn't actually intend to leave her hanging; he was there to wake them up for breakfast, after all.

Smack!

Suyan casually slapped Shizuka's plump rear, producing a dull thud. "Shizuka-nee, time to get up."

"Huh? Is it morning already?"

Marikawa Shizuka groggily woke up and sat up in bed. Seeing Suyan standing there, she immediately whined like a spoiled child, "I want my little Suyan to carry me out of bed."

Watching her act this way made Takagi Yuriko grind her teeth in utter frustration.

Was this woman faking it?! She had spent all night trying to wake her up to no avail, but Suyan comes in, gives her a light smack on the butt, and she wakes up instantly?

Did the woman have a hidden power switch installed on her rear end?!

"Alright, everyone get up. It's time for breakfast."

Suyan picked up the blonde nurse, who was clinging to him like a child, and then turned back to Takagi Yuriko. "After breakfast, I have something I need to discuss with you."

"Is it about Nen?" she asked.

"Yes and no." Suyan shook his head and threw a profound question back at her: "When do you think this crisis—the one caused by the zombie outbreak—will finally end?"
