Chapter 1 - Kolkata shoter love story

In the busy city of Kolkata, Arif lived an ordinary life like thousands of others. He worked in a small private company and didn't dream of luxury—he only wished for a peaceful life and someone who would truly love him.

One rainy morning, while waiting at a bus stop for office, his eyes fell on a girl standing nearby. She was wearing a white salwar kameez, holding an umbrella, with a calm and beautiful smile on her face. Her name was Mehrin.

When the bus arrived, the crowd pushed everyone close together. Suddenly, the bus stopped with a jerk and Mehrin almost fell. Arif quickly held her hand and saved her from falling.

"Sorry…" Mehrin said shyly.

Arif smiled and replied,

"A thank you would be enough."

That small moment became the beginning of their story.

Over the next few days, they kept meeting at the same bus stop. At first, they exchanged smiles, then small conversations. Slowly, friendship grew between them without either realizing when it happened.

Mehrin was a school teacher—simple, kind, and warm-hearted. Gradually, Arif realized that he had fallen in love with her.

One evening, while sitting beside the river, Arif finally gathered the courage to say,

"My day feels incomplete when I don't see you."

Mehrin stayed silent for a moment and softly replied,

"Not every feeling can be answered immediately."

But her eyes revealed the truth—she loved him too.

Everything was going well until one day Mehrin told him that her family had arranged her marriage. Arif felt as if his world had stopped.

"Aren't you going to say anything?" Mehrin asked with trembling voice.

Arif replied quietly,

"Your happiness matters the most."

That day, both of them cried, yet neither tried to stop the other.

A week before the wedding, Mehrin suddenly called Arif.

"I can't do this… I can't marry someone else. Because I love you."

Arif was shocked. For the first time, Mehrin spoke openly to her family about her feelings. There were many obstacles, but eventually her family agreed.

One year later…

Arif and Mehrin stood together on the balcony of their small apartment, watching the rain while holding cups of tea.

Mehrin smiled and said,

"What if you hadn't held me that day on the bus?"

Arif laughed softly and replied,

"Then maybe you would have fallen… and I would never have fallen in love."

Their laughter blended with the sound of rain, proving that true love never gets lost—it always finds its way back at the right time.
