Chapter 9 - Chapter Nine

(Greek Mythology) The Abyss

Chapter Nine

Although Eros had messed things up, he did do one good thing: the gods were finally free to have children.

So, without any family planning, Gaia gave birth to quite a few children in just a few years. It's estimated that it won't be long before all twelve Titans are born.

Thumbs up for Gaia's fertility! She truly deserves the title of Mother Earth.

And Gaia herself, after being bored for so long, finally found a way to pass the time—a truly commendable feat.

The method was simple: watching plays. Yes, watching plays! Just imagine the rich and varied/chaotic lives of the Greek gods—what a great TV drama! There are political struggles, family dramas, love entanglements, and all sorts of other genres to choose from!

Thanks to Eros's selfless dedication, he finally remembered his long-forgotten artifact.

Remember that neglected mirror? Yes, that's it.

The mirror has a side function: reflecting everything in the world. In simpler terms, it lets you see anything you want to see, as long as it happened. It's like a Greek mythological version of television, with no channel restrictions, perfectly fulfilling his desire to watch dramas from home.

"Then, let's call it the Mirror of Life," Tartarus said softly, looking down at the mirror in his hand. (Now that I've thought of a name, the mirror will cry, it really will cry 〒_〒)

Although the Mirror of Life contains Eros, that doesn't stop him from making a copy. He's also grateful that he's transmigrated into Tartarus; even using a copy won't be detected, and he can occasionally cause them some trouble. (-_-# So you only use your strongest power on this?)

But that's all in the future. Considering the current number and age ratio of gods, it's probably more reliable for him to go play with his newborn niece.

I almost forgot to mention, Nyx and Erebus also had a new child, but unfortunately, Nyx's fertility is clearly not as good as Gaia's; in all these years, she's only given birth to one daughter—Hemera, the goddess of day.

So, regarding the goddess of night giving birth to the goddess of day, are you alright, Logic Guy? While there's a saying that extremes meet, the probability of having two children with attributes exactly opposite to their parents is practically insane!

I'm quite looking forward to imagining what my little niece will look like. Speaking of which, Hemera is about the same age as Aether, whom he met years ago. The two gods are siblings, so Hemera will probably be as adorable as Aether.

Please forgive him for comparing Hemera and Aether, because besides Aether, he hasn't seen any other newborn children. Although Gaia had many children, he only caught a few glimpses in the Mirror of Life; being able to recognize them is already quite an achievement.

Don't blame him for favoritism. The Abyss is his domain; he can teleport there at will. The earth, however, is different, and the distance between them is imaginable, separated by night and darkness. As a seasoned shut-in, you can't expect him to travel that far for something so trivial.

Besides, familial bonds are often weak in Greek mythology; his attitude is actually quite normal.

Thinking this, Tartarus comfortably dismissed any lingering guilt he felt.

And then what? He got his comeuppance. His little niece, whom he had been eagerly anticipating, delivered a crushing blow.

Okay, little Hemera is actually quite cute, especially when she waves her chubby, white arms and babbles adorably. But the problem is, Hemera is a transmigrator!

He thought it would be a long time before other transmigrators appeared, but it happened so quickly.

Yes, he had known all along that other transmigrators would appear, and more than one, because Chaos had told him about it during the Chaos era.

Chaos's explanation was that someone might accidentally stumble upon a randomly appearing spatial rift. He decided to remain skeptical of this seemingly reasonable but ultimately dubious explanation.

The way Chaos said it, with that mocking tone, made it hard to believe, no matter the reason. Therefore, he had reason to suspect that Chaos was doing it on purpose.

Thinking about Chaos's "considerate" advice that he would definitely recognize the transmigrators, he felt a stomachache. He finally understood why Chaos had said that.

Look at the three golden characters "Transmigrator" shimmering brightly above Hemera's head—it perfectly illustrated the saying "not aiming to be the most conspicuous, but to be the most conspicuous," making it impossible for him to pretend he didn't know.

The equation "transmigrators equal trouble" isn't always true, but it holds some truth. If a few transmigrators eager to become Mary Sue or Tom Sue characters arrived, he could forget about any peaceful life. He had absolute faith in their ability to stir up trouble and escalate it infinitely. Even if they were just ordinary humans after transmigrating, they'd still find a way to throw the world into chaos.

Given his current situation—his birth order was different—he'd be recognized in no time. Others might not know about Gatan, but would these transmigrators not? He wasn't going to rely solely on their ignorance of Greek mythology before transmigrating. While he was confident they wouldn't affect him much, he didn't want them disrupting his peaceful life.

As for Chaos's suggestion to eliminate them all, he'd rather just listen and forget it. Although they weren't brought here by Chaos like him, they were still reincarnated here with their memories intact. He wasn't so arrogant as to think he had any right to deal with them.

While he considered himself morally questionable and not a good person, he still had basic principles. He never felt any guilt about taking action against those who stood in his way, but among them were normal people who just wanted a peaceful life; he couldn't bring himself to kill his fellow countrymen for no reason.

So, in short, after going around in circles, he still hadn't figured out what to do. Oh well, he'd wait and see when it actually happened. (Could you be any more irresponsible?)
