Chapter 58 - Chapter 58: Hakai

Darkness swallowed them both.

For a brief instant, Damon could not tell whether he was falling, flying, or being dragged by force. The space around him felt wrong, as if direction itself had stopped meaning anything the moment the dimension tore open. There was no ground beneath his feet, no sky above his head, but it was not a normal void either.

Violent colors twisted in every direction, as if space itself had melted and was churning over itself. Purple, blue, white, pink... currents of distorted energy dragged themselves everywhere, like a rotten sea between worlds, with no fixed shape and no stable point to hold onto. Everything seemed to move, twist, and shift at the same time, as if reality itself had been shredded and thrown into that place.

But even there, Kaguya did not stop.

Her pale hair was the first thing to strike, cutting through that mess of warped colors like spears. Damon twisted his body in midair and avoided the first wave by inches, only for a second to force him to raise one of his Truth-Seeking Orbs as a shield. The impact echoed through the Gap, and the black sphere trembled under the force before Damon shoved it forward and forced the goddess's hair away.

The next attack came from his blind spot. A portal opened behind him without warning, and two gray bones shot toward the back of his neck. Damon vanished in a flash and reappeared several meters away.

Damon's POV

Shit. Shit, shit.

Of all places, we had to end up here.

The Bijuu inside Damon, even weakened as they were, were on full alert because of his reaction.

"Kit, what's wrong? Where are we?" the Kyūbi asked, clearly worried.

"This is the Dimensional Gap. Izanami told me about this place. It's the space that connects all worlds and pantheons. Almost nobody dares to enter it for one simple reason..." Damon said seriously.

He paused for a moment before continuing.

"Two of the strongest beings currently in existence live here."

At those words, the Bijuu's eyes widened. More than anyone, they understood exactly what Damon meant. Back in the shinobi world, the reason they had ended up hating humans was because humans never stopped invading their territories. If what Damon was saying was true, then they already had a very clear idea of how bad this situation really was.

"Kit, you need to get out of here now," the fox said, alarmed.

"You think I don't know that? Right now the main thing is ending this fight and getting the hell out of here as fast as possible. Honestly, I have no desire to make enemies of those beings right now," Damon answered with a frown.

Meanwhile, Kaguya, completely unaware of the situation, reappeared behind him.

Damon reacted instantly and fired a volley of black orbs without even thinking. Kaguya dodged them, but this time she did not counter immediately.

Pulling a little distance from her, Damon started thinking about how to end the battle. Clearly, he could not keep fighting the pale goddess here as if none of this mattered. Drawing unnecessary attention in this place was the last thing he wanted.

Urgent situations require urgent measures, Damon thought.

"Kurama, watch carefully. This will be the first and last time you see it."

Kurama's eyes widened.

"DAMON!" the fox roared, trying to stop him. There had to be another way.

But the blond gave no answer.

Kurama hated what was happening and would never admit it out loud...

Back in the Dimensional Gap, Damon opened his eyes, dropped through the void for a brief instant, and then stabilized himself in the air again. He began walking toward Kaguya.

Kaguya narrowed her eyes slightly at the blond's actions, but she did not lower her guard.

Then she noticed something strange.

Damon raised his right hand toward his side, as if he were reaching for something invisible.

She activated her Byakugan.

Nothing.

She could not see anything there.

Damon kept moving forward slowly, and in the suffocating silence only one sound could be heard.

Drop.

That caught the albino woman's attention. She lowered her gaze and saw a red drop.

Then she lifted her head again and saw Damon's face.

Blood tears were running down his cheeks.

Damon slowly closed his hand around the hilt of a katana that began appearing out of the air itself. The soft sound of a chain echoed through the Gap. A white handle with black details appeared in his hand, and at the end of it hung a small black chain with a white gem swaying gently.

The moment Damon fully drew the katana, the black blade came completely into view.

He could feel every muscle in his body tightening just from holding it.

In truth, it felt like he was using far more than ten percent of his divine power. It felt closer to one hundred, even though he was only touching it. More blood began to pour from his mouth, his nose, his eyes, and his ears. His body was destroying itself cell by cell. Inside him, the Bijuu were using the last scraps of chakra they had left to hold him together, but it was not enough. The destruction was faster than his regeneration, faster than his Uzumaki blood could repair.

"Come on, Damon, hold on," he muttered to himself. "You can't lose here... not after everything."

Every step hurt more than the last. It felt like his legs were about to break just from continuing to move.

Just a little more, Damon told himself, forcing his mind onto anything other than the pain tearing through his body.

He finished drawing the katana and held it low at his side. He was certain of one thing: if he raised it even once...

that would be the last time.

Kaguya was completely confused by what the blond was doing. He had pulled a katana out of nowhere, was dying with every step he took, and yet she could still feel his chakra moving inside him. She tilted her head slightly, unable to understand him, and looked at Damon again.

What happened next, she had no way of expecting.

She was slammed face-first into what felt like air and, at the same time, nothing, by a force so absurdly heavy that she could not move a single muscle. It felt as if the sky itself had dropped on top of her. She tried desperately to rise—

Then she heard a scream.

"AAAAAAAHHHH!"

Black Zetsu was ripped away from Kaguya's body by that same force. He had no idea what had just happened, but feeling his entire body being torn loose while part of him was still connected to her was agony beyond words. He tried to force his way back into Kaguya's body.

Too late.

He was too drowned in his own pain to notice that the blond in front of him was already covered in blood.

Damon raised the katana and cut through Zetsu's legs.

"Sever the link..." he tried to say, nearly choking on his own blood.

The katana slipped from his hand.

It remained floating in the middle of nothing.

Damon vanished and reappeared above Black Zetsu. With the help of the wind, he crushed him down into a compact black mass. From the moment Damon broke the connection between him and Kaguya, Zetsu had not stopped cursing him, but Damon no longer cared.

With his body aching like hell, Damon raised a trembling hand toward Black Zetsu. Blood was still running down his face, dripping from his mouth, his nose, even his ears, but his eyes never left the black mass in front of him.

"Hakai."

The word was low. But the instant it left Damon's mouth, the space around Black Zetsu twisted.

For the first time since being torn away from Kaguya, Zetsu's arrogance broke. His body began to come apart in silence at first, black fragments peeling away from him like ash caught in an invisible fire.

Then the pain hit.

And he screamed.

It was the scream of something realizing too late that it was not being wounded, not being sealed, not even being destroyed in any normal sense.

It was being erased.

"W-WAIT, wait, wait—!"

He clawed at the air, trying to force himself back together, trying to drag himself toward Kaguya, trying to survive on pure instinct alone.

"No..." Zetsu gasped, his voice no longer sounding human. "No, no, no, no, no—"

His screams echoed through the Dimensional Gap.

In the end, only silence remained…..
