The question caught him off guard.
Normally, conversations with Seren felt strangely awkward to him, not because she had done anything wrong, but because he genuinely didn't know how to handle conversations like this properly. So most of the time, he avoided them unless they were about work or something important.
But now she was asking why he hadn't told her personally about the journey?
"Oh… huh…" Darion started awkwardly while trying to think of a proper response.
His mind scrambled around for something that sounded reasonable.
Then he got one.
"I was just occupied with things that evening. That's why I sent Garren," he told her.
Seren looked directly into his eyes for a moment.
Darion honestly expected another question after that. Or maybe something like:
'Wish I could come.'
Or: 'You should've told me anyway.'
Something along those lines.
But she didn't. She simply nodded once.
"Okay."
