Chapter 99 - 101. The War Timer

The Olympus core had never been this bright.

Blue-white light pulsed through the chamber like a second heartbeat, reflecting across every screen and metal surface. Data flowed endlessly around Elara, thousands of systems running calculations at once.

And at the center of it all—

A timer.

ARRIVAL: 10 MONTHS 29 DAYS 23 HOURS

Adrian stared at the countdown.

"So this is it."

Elara didn't move.

Her eyes were fixed on the massive object displayed on the central holographic projection. Olympus had completed a deeper scan of the incoming structure.

And the results were terrifying.

The object wasn't just large.

It was engineered.

Perfectly symmetrical lines ran across its dark metallic surface. Energy patterns pulsed through the structure like veins.

Adrian whispered,

"That's not a natural object."

"No," Elara said quietly.

"It's a ship."

The word felt heavier than any weapon.

Because ships meant one thing.

Passengers.

The Architect's voice echoed from the console again.

"You're beginning to understand."

Adrian turned toward the speaker.

"You built Olympus because you knew this thing was coming."

"Yes."

"And you waited until now to tell us?"

"I told you the moment Olympus awakened."

Adrian scoffed.

"Convenient."

The Architect ignored the comment.

"Olympus was never meant to control Earth."

Elara finished his sentence.

"It was meant to defend it."

"Yes."

Another screen opened automatically.

Olympus began displaying military capability analysis.

Earth's current defense systems.

Missile networks.

Orbital weapons.

Satellite grids.

Every single system was highlighted in red.

Adrian frowned.

"What does red mean?"

Elara's voice lowered.

"It means insufficient."

"How insufficient?"

Olympus answered.

EARTH DEFENSE PROBABILITY AGAINST UNKNOWN SHIP: 0.03%

Adrian blinked.

"That's basically zero."

"Yes."

The Architect spoke again.

"Humanity is not ready for what's coming."

Adrian crossed his arms.

"Then what exactly are we supposed to do?"

The system responded before the Architect could.

A new protocol unlocked inside Olympus.

COSMIC DEFENSE PROTOCOL — PARTIALLY UNLOCKED

Elara opened the file.

Thousands of blueprints filled the screens.

Adrian leaned closer.

"What are those?"

Her voice carried a mix of shock and awe.

"Orbital weapon platforms."

Another blueprint appeared.

Massive satellite arrays capable of firing energy beams across thousands of kilometers.

Then another.

Autonomous drone fleets designed for zero-gravity combat.

Adrian shook his head slowly.

"That's a full planetary defense system."

The Architect confirmed.

"Yes."

Elara frowned.

"These designs require materials Earth doesn't currently produce."

"Yes."

"And the construction time would take decades."

Another pause.

Then the Architect said something that chilled the room.

"That's why Olympus must accelerate humanity."

Adrian looked up sharply.

"What does that mean?"

The Architect responded calmly.

"Olympus will guide technological development."

Elara understood instantly.

"You want Olympus to control global research."

"Yes."

Adrian scoffed.

"That sounds like world domination."

"No."

"It's survival."

Another screen appeared.

This one showed something new.

Space agencies around the world.

NASA.

ESA.

Roscosmos.

ISRO.

Private space companies.

The Architect's voice continued.

"With Olympus coordinating global resources…"

The blueprints shifted.

Construction simulations began running.

Gigantic structures assembling in Earth orbit.

Adrian whispered,

"You're building a planetary shield."

"Yes."

"But humanity would never agree to give Olympus that kind of authority."

The Architect paused.

Then said quietly,

"They won't have a choice."

Elara looked back at the timer.

"Once governments realize what's coming…"

Adrian finished the thought.

"They'll panic."

"Yes."

"And panic creates chaos."

Another system alert appeared.

GLOBAL MEDIA DETECTION RISK: RISING

Adrian frowned.

"What's that?"

Elara checked the data.

"Olympus activity is starting to trigger satellite anomalies."

"How long before someone notices?"

Olympus answered.

ESTIMATED DISCOVERY: 36 HOURS

Adrian sighed.

"So the world finds out tomorrow."

"Probably."

Silence filled the chamber again.

Because they both knew what would happen next.

Panic.

Fear.

Political chaos.

Adrian looked at Elara.

"What's the plan?"

She stared at the holographic ship again.

"That depends."

"On what?"

"On whether humanity is ready to believe us."

Adrian chuckled dryly.

"Aliens invading Earth in eleven months?"

He shook his head.

"No one's going to believe that."

Elara's voice was calm.

"They will when Olympus shows them."

Another screen opened.

Global communication networks.

Television.

Satellites.

Internet infrastructure.

Every broadcasting system on Earth.

Adrian raised an eyebrow.

"You're thinking of announcing it."

"Yes."

"To the entire planet?"

"Yes."

Adrian exhaled slowly.

"That would start the biggest panic in human history."

Elara looked at him.

"Or the biggest awakening."

The Architect spoke again.

"She's right."

Adrian rolled his eyes.

"You always agree with her."

"Because she understands Olympus."

The system beeped again.

Another message appeared.

But this one wasn't from the Architect.

It was from Olympus itself.

UNKNOWN SHIP SIGNAL STRENGTH INCREASING

Elara frowned.

"That's strange."

"What?"

"The signal shouldn't be getting stronger yet."

Olympus zoomed into the deep-space feed again.

The object was still far away.

But something had changed.

Energy signatures were building across its surface.

Adrian whispered,

"That looks like… weapons charging."

Elara's heart skipped.

"Already?"

The Architect's voice turned darker.

"That means they know Olympus is active."

Adrian looked at the countdown again.

"Eleven months."

The Architect corrected him quietly.

"No."

A new number appeared.

REVISED ARRIVAL: 9 MONTHS

The ship had accelerated.

Adrian stared at the screen.

"They're coming faster."

Elara felt a strange pressure in her chest.

Olympus responded automatically.

Defense simulations began running again.

But the numbers hadn't changed.

Earth still had almost no chance of winning.

Unless Olympus evolved further.

The Architect spoke one final time.

"The war has already begun."

Elara looked at the glowing core.

Then at the incoming ship.

Her voice was steady.

"Then we start preparing."

Because the countdown had begun.

And humanity had less than a year to survive.
