☕ CHAPTER ONE

The Girl Who Built Foam

The first rule of luxury is simple:

Never let them see you struggle.

The morning sun filtered through the floor-to-ceiling glass walls of Cappuccino. The café smelled of roasted beans and vanilla cream. Italian marble floors reflected gold chandeliers. Soft jazz played low enough to whisper wealth.

Serena stood behind the counter in a silk champagne blouse and tailored trousers. Her heels clicked lightly against the marble.

Outside, black SUVs pulled into the parking lot one after the other.

Abuja's elite had arrived.

Politicians.

Oil executives.

Influencers with curated smiles.

Everyone wanted a table.

Because Cappuccino was not just a café.

It was a statement.

And Serena was the signature.

"Table five is asking for you personally," Grace, her assistant, whispered.

Serena didn't look surprised.

"Send them a complimentary bottle of sparkling water. Make them wait seven minutes."

"Seven?"

"Yes," Serena said calmly. "Luxury breathes in patience."

Upstairs, in the private VIP lounge, a man watched her through tinted glass.

Tall.

Dark suit.

Expensive silence.

Joseph Raymond.

Tech investor.

Quiet billionaire.

Dangerously observant.

He didn't come for coffee.

He came for her.

Serena lifted a cappuccino cup, the foam perfectly layered.

Smooth.

Soft.

Controlled.

Exactly like her life.

But across town, in a marble mansion in Maitama, another woman smashed a champagne glass against the wall.

Annatesia Cole.

Daughter of one of the richest men in Nigeria.

And she had just seen Serena trending.

Again.

Luxury in Abuja was never peaceful.

It was competition dressed in diamonds.

And Serena?

She was about to learn that when you rise too fast…

People don't clap.
