Chapter 1 - Ch.1 Heaven Reaching Sect

Eastern Star Sea: Extreme East

In the very center of Dragon's Eye Island, the outer gates of Heaven Reaching Sect were bustling with activities not seen in normal days.

After all, it was once a decade disciple acceptance ceremony held by the Heaven Reaching Sect, one of the strongest sects on this part of the sea.

In the nearest city to the sect, the Sea Breeze City carriages were entering and exiting in droves. The number of guards guarding the wall and the city gates was more than ever before.

In the sky, one could see people on swords passing by, they were so fast that from the ground it looked like shooting stars

"Finally Here."

A youth muttered as he entered the city through the majestic city gate, gripping his leather bag, he quickly entered the crowd.

"It should be here."

The youth muttered as he tried to remember the map he had seen, passing through a few turns, he finally reached his destination.

 "Yellow Wind Inn."

He softly muttered as he entered the inn. Inside the inn, it was far less crowded than outside. This was an inn recommended by his old man.

"I would like to book a room for the day."

He said as he looked at the madam sitting on the counter, she must be one of the owners of this inn.

"Hmm, 20 copper."

"Hmm."

Ethan nodded as he handed over the copper. The madam quickly counted it and handed him a key.

"First Floor, third room, right side."

Taking the key, he quickly made his way inside his room, looking at the small room and wooden bed, he released a sigh of relief.

"I should stay inside the room today."

He muttered as he counted his savings, 200 copper coins and ten silver coins. It was all he had managed to earn in his sixteen years of life.

Looking outside the window, he controlled his desire to explore. According to the old man, the day before the test is very dangerous.

All kinds of people will be moving about, and there is a chance that one may offend an immortal. Although they may not harm you in the city, if you fail to awaken a spiritual talent, then death is guaranteed.

"Would you like some food?"

A voice was heard after a knock. Ethan quickly went to the door and ordered enough food for today.

Just like that, time moved as the sun was replaced by the moon in the sky, although night had started, the city was as lively as in the day.

Ethan quickly went to bed. As he closed his eyes, he hadn't forgotten to lock the window and the door.

His mind quickly relaxed as he fell asleep.

In pure darkness of void, Ethan's body floated, his eyes were clouded, and his body moved without direction. A beam of bright light broke through the void, and his focus returned as he looked into the distance.

An ethereal tree appeared, but before he could take a better glance, his eyes opened. Looking at the new ceiling, he couldn't help but sigh.

"I still couldn't get a proper glimpse of that tree."

He muttered as he quickly washed his face and teeth; such a dream was something that he had been experiencing since being reborn.

He even thinks that his rebirth may be related to that tree, though he doesn't have much desire to explore his reason for rebirth.

"Whatever it may be, god, system, some treasure, or coincidence. I am very grateful for my rebirth."

He muttered as he quickly packed what little belongings he had. After the death of his old man, he didn't have anything left in the mortal world.

"Hope your next reincarnation has a spiritual talent."

Giving his best wishes, he quickly walked out of the inn, since it was 4 o'clock in the morning, and the roads were relatively empty.

He quickly entered the city center, looking at the people forming a circle around the 10-meter stone monument he also stopped.

Time continued to pass as the number of people behind him continued to increase. It was good that he woke up so quickly; otherwise, he would have to wait for an entire day to test his talent.

"Do you think my son will awaken a spiritual talent?"

"Haa, you pig son."

"Hey, he is a tiger."

"Haha, a tiger with some weight."

"I will definitely awaken a spiritual talent."

"Just you wait, I shall have my revenge after becoming an immortal."

"Immortal Maidens hehe~, Here i come~~ hehe"

The place was bustling with noise as Ethan stood there in silence. He looked up as he could see immortals floating in swords, fans, and other things forming a circle just above them.

"Silence!!"

A roaring voice was heard as a red comment fell from the sky, wind roared as the bursts of wind silenced the crowd. The temperature of the area seemed to increase as Ethan looked at the robust old man next to the monument.

Looking at his eyes that seemed to burn with flames, he couldn't help but shudder. Even he, who was a soldier in war for thirty years in his last life, felt fear just by looking at the old man.

"Only those below thirty shall stay; others disperse."

He spoke as his voice spread throughout the city center; none over the age limit dared to stay as the crowd thinned by a third.

"Those remaining form a line."

He gave another command as they quickly formed a line. Ethan also joined as he managed to become the 30th in line.

"Hey!"

Just as he was looking forward to checking his spiritual talent, an arrogant voice was heard from the back.

Confused, he looked back, and a young man was looking at him with narrowed eyes. Just looking at his clothes, he could feel that the young man was someone with a great background.

"Dare to stand in line in front of this young man."

He spoke, and before Ethan could give a reply..

"Silence, no talking in the line."

Hearing the voice, the young man's face turned gloomy. Seeing this, Ethan just shrugged his shoulders to show that he couldn't do anything. After which, he turned forward to look at the monument.

But his action only annoyed the young man even more; although he didn't say anything, the anger in his eyes couldn't be hidden.

"Just place your hand on the monument. I have activated the formation inside it."

The old man explained as he looked at the youth in front of the line, the youth nodded his head as he placed his hand on the monument.

The monument glowed as it shone out two colored lights.

"Hmm, Two Elements, no bad, a good start."

"Get behind me."

The old man said as he looked at the second youth. The second youth also placed his hand, but after a few seconds, nothing happened.

"I.."

Before he could start to whine, the glare from the old man silenced him.

"Next."

The old man shouted as the third youth followed. Time soon passed as it was finally Ethan's turn. Only three people had awakened so far.

Without wasting a moment, Ethan put his hand on the monument; the monument glowed, but it didn't spit out any colored light.

"Oh, a formless one quite rare. Behind me"

Ethan followed his command as he stood in line behind the old man, the young man who was calling him also managed to awaken with a single element light.

Time continued to pass as the sun was about to set, and all the people in the line had been checked.

"137, Not bad."

The old man said as he looked at the youths behind him, his aura rose as his booming voice was heard again.

"I am Yan Lei, an outer elder of the Heaven Reaching Sect, and from today onward, you shall be the disciple of this very sect. Now, follow me."

As he said that a floating boat appeared behind him, he quickly entered the boat as all the youth followed behind.

Looking at the boat whose inside was far bigger than the outside, Ethan couldn't help but marvel at the immortal techniques.

"Float, and Go."

Yan Lei commanded as the boat floated and disappeared in the sky, and the cultivators in various flying tools followed behind as they protected the boat.

In a few minutes, they crossed hundreds of kilometers of distance as they entered a misty area, and as the boat pierced through, the mist cleared.

A massive city appeared beneath them, a city covering hundreds of thousands of square kilometers, where all kinds of houses and people can be seen.

As the boat continued to move, the houses and buildings got better and better as it entered another formation.

A mountain range appeared as it covered the vast plain in the middle of it; the mountains and the plains seem to stretch to the horizon.

The boat started to descend as it stopped on a platform in one of the many mountain peaks in the area.

"You have arrived, the Inner Quarters of the Sect."
