Chapter 18 - chapter 16.2:bye

EXT. CITY STREET – LATE AFTERNOON

Soft light. End of day.

People walking. Traffic slowing. A normal city winding down.

Duda and TROFALS walk side by side.

A brief silence between them.

Duda takes a deep breath.

DUDA

Well… since we're done…

I guess we should head home.

Trofals adjusts his backpack, casual but distracted.

TROFALS

Yeah… I'm heading home too.

Got some work to do. Research.

(beat)

Then I'll go with Beka to the hospital.

Araki still has some questions to answer.

(half sigh)

Hopefully nothing serious is happening there.

Duda glances at him.

Curious.

A little hesitant.

DUDA

Hey… do you have a girlfriend?

Trofals smiles slightly.

Calm. Honest.

TROFALS

Well… I have a woman.

(beat)

She's great. I really like her.

She lives with me.

(pauses, thinking)

I don't think I've ever introduced you.

(smiles)

I'll introduce you tomorrow.

Not today though.

(quietly)

I'm pretty sure I won't be with her tonight.

He leans slightly closer, playful curiosity.

TROFALS

What about you?

Boyfriend? Girlfriend?

(grinning)

Daniel, Gabriel, Rodrigo… André… Antônio… João… Pedro…

—or maybe an Amélia… or Noela?

Duda shrugs.

Simple. Honest.

DUDA

No… none.

No boyfriends. No girlfriends.

I'm not with anyone.

Trofals raises an eyebrow.

TROFALS

Really?

Looking for someone?

She gives a shy smile.

DUDA

Maybe…

But nothing certain.

Trofals exhales lightly.

Half serious. Half joking.

TROFALS

Yeah… you must be unlucky.

(beat)

First of all…

I'm already taken.

Duda stops walking.

Crosses her arms.

Firm.

Direct.

DUDA

I want you.

Trofals lets out a low laugh.

Shakes his head.

TROFALS

Hmm…

That wouldn't work for me.

She insists.

DUDA

No.

He smirks.

TROFALS

Then you're the one choosing to lose.

Beat.

He looks around, subtly changing the subject.

Avoiding.

TROFALS

Well…

I think we should split here.

(gestures ahead)

We'll meet later… maybe at the hospital.

It's a good place.

You go home.

Have a good afternoon… safe trip.

Duda smiles softly.

DUDA

Thanks… same to you.

I hope you manage to do something.

Trofals nods.

Confidence returning.

TROFALS

I will.

You can count on that.

They separate.

Walk in opposite directions.

EXT. STREET – CONTINUOUS

Duda walks alone.

The city quieter now.

Then—

Something.

A movement in the corner of her eye.

A shadow.

Fast.

Almost impossible.

She stops.

Looks around.

Nothing.

DUDA (murmuring)

Must be my imagination…

But—

It wasn't.

EXT. ROOFTOPS – NIGHT

A WHITE SILHOUETTE cuts through the air.

Fast.

Precise.

Unnatural.

MEMBA.

Leaping from building to building.

Red markings glowing faintly.

Watching the city.

Hunting the moment.

EXT. SKYLINE – CONTINUOUS

TRAÇA glides silently.

Blue wings leaving faint trails of light.

Below—

The city.

Unaware.

EXT. ROOFTOP – CONTINUOUS

ROSA perches on Memba's shoulder.

Small flames flicker around her fingers.

Alive.

Controlled.

MEMBA (V.O.)

Every movement matters.

If a human suspects…

everything collapses.

He opens his bag slightly.

Inside—

CUBES.

Pulsing.

Synchronizing.

MEMBA (low)

It's time.

CUT TO:

EXT. CITY – DIFFERENT DISTRICT – NIGHT

Trofals walks toward the hospital.

More serious now.

Hand near his weapon.

He stops.

Looks up.

Shadows moving across buildings.

Too fast.

TROFALS (whisper)

That's not possible…

A flash—

MEMBA crossing rooftops.

Gone in a second.

Trofals tightens his grip.

TROFALS (V.O.)

They're going to do something…

Something big…

He hesitates.

Then—

Turns.

INT. HOSPITAL – NIGHT

Fluorescent lights.

Quiet tension.

ARAQUE lies in bed, staring at the ceiling.

Trofals enters.

Drops a file on the table.

TROFALS

Let's not waste time.

We need everything.

Your mission. Your DNA. Your connections.

Araque exhales slowly.

ARAQUE

You think this is simple…

It's not.

(beat)

The humanoid isn't playing.

Neither are the chimeras.

Trofals feels it.

A chill.

INTERCUT – CITY / ROOFTOPS / ISLAND

— Chimeras taking positions

— Cubes activating

— Signals syncing

— Shadows multiplying

EXT. UNKNOWN ISLAND – NIGHT

The HUMANOID stands before floating cubes.

They pulse in perfect rhythm.

HUMANOID

If everything goes right…

They won't notice…

until it's too late.

Memba stands beside him.

Silent.

MEMBA

Let's begin.

The Humanoid nods.

A cold smile forming.

EXT. CITY – NIGHT

The sky subtly shifts.

Tiny sparks flicker—

Invisible to most.

Shadows move between buildings.

The air vibrates.

A low hum.

Growing.

EXT. ISLAND – CONTINUOUS

The Humanoid whispers:

HUMANOID

The work… has begun.

CUT TO BLACK
