The Demon Commander did not attack.
It observed.
"You carry his authority."
"Whose?" Arjun demanded.
The demon raised its claw.
The darkness shifted—
Revealing a vision.
An ancient war.
Gigantic beings cloaked in shadow battling celestial entities of light.
Cities erased.
Worlds burning.
"At the center," the demon said,
"stood the Shadow Monarch."
A king of absolute darkness.
Feared even by demons.
"He fell."
"And his power scattered."
The vision ended.
The demon's eyes locked onto Arjun.
"You are his fragment."
Arjun felt his chest tighten.
The system window appeared.
