By evening, Enzo went to his bedchambers to prepare for the run. He would have prepared to leave without bathing, but for some reason, he needed to clear his head while he thought. He dipped himself into the bath pool the maids had already prepared beforehand and relaxed his back against the brick wall surrounding the water.
Not long after, he heard his door open and he already knew who it was. His nostrils flared as the sweet scent of orchids announced her presence before she even entered the room. The tip of his jaw lifted into a smile, but he soon flattened it, bringing his face back to neutral.
Arabella tiptoed into the room. Noticing he was not there, she allowed her nose to guide her, and soon she was in the bathroom. She stared at his bare chest, half of it was above the water while the rest of his body remained hidden beneath it.
She smiled because she knew the king knew she was there but simply did not want to open his eyes.
