When Kai saw the gas, he quickly covered his mouth with his shirt, but it was useless as he started feeling dizzy and sleepy after taking one single breath, while Nova was out cold already.
Kai tried to wake her up, but it was useless. Nova was not waking up.
Even more people were falling asleep. It was clear to Kai this was some kind of sleeping gas they used for the first test, and he was also falling asleep.
Kai looked at his status and he found a new thing at the bottom.

Kai sighed and began controlling his breathing. He was one of the 50 people still breathing and awake, though some were on the brink of sleep.
Elder Huan smiled. His eyes scanned those awake and then he clapped his hands, saying, "Congrats, but you still need to be put to sleep."
The Elder's calm face turned slightly amused and excited as his aura exploded out. At the same time, Kai had instinctively turned on God Eyes as this did not feel like a normal aura.
With God Eyes, he saw the numbers on the people rapidly falling, and the aura was still expanding, slow but unstoppable.
Kai felt the aura pass his body and instantly felt like a ton was placed on every part of his body as every muscle tensed, him barely pushing past the pressure on his body, and he started coughing blood.
Kai looked around and saw 25 people of the originally awake fall limp like puppets with their strings cut.
Kai started to panic, and due to that his breathing became irregular, and worse, he breathed faster, inhaling more and more of the green gas. But at the same time, a glitching crimson holographic screen appeared.

Kai felt the gas slightly weakening and he smiled, and his eyes that were still colored by God Eyes shifted more as both glowed with power.
His left eye turned a deep golden royal color with hints of white in the center of now golden pupils, while the right eye turned a deep bloody red and also a hint of white in the center of the pupils.
Kai's vision changed as he activated two skills.

The white in the center of Kai's eyes grew more as he pushed mana into his eyes and skin, circulating it with as much speed as he could.
Unknown to Kai, he was actually holding up very well against 5 percent of Elder Huan's aura, mostly because of his mental defenses.
Elder Huan's smile grew more as he mentally noted down the faces and names of the 15 people still awake as he allowed his aura to grow stronger to nearly 20 percent of his aura.
Kai felt his body falling into the seat and he felt the warm blood fall from the corner of his mouth.
Kai sighed and activated yet another skill.

And the internal healing instantly started and the pressure on him lessened.
After a full minute, Kai felt more mana leaving his body.

Kai knew he could not keep this up, but there was not really anything he could do.
And then one of his skills leveled up.

Two more minutes passed.
And his mana dwindled more and more.

Kai's eyes were wide with fatigue, his body shaking from the pain in his muscles.
His strength stat rose by one because of the pressure. Elder Huan had taken a nap and woke up now because he still felt 5 people awake.
He sighed as he raised his hands, and the green gas disappeared, and the aura also disappeared.
Elder Huan then said, "Well, you have impressed me beyond what I thought you could, so I owe each one of you one thing, but for now, sleep will come for you."
Kai's eyes widened in fear as he alone was able to see the mana around Elder Huan turning insanely pure and golden. Normally mana in the air was a very faint golden color, like gold in water.
But the golden color around the Elder was pure, and it was improving the sleeping gas while his aura seemed to get ready for one singular push.
Kai's heart was beating with fear. The second the gas disappeared, the screen before him changed.
