AURORA"What is going on?"
The words ripped from my throat, raw and trembling, yet laced with a terrifying edge that cut straight through the sterile air of the corridor. I took a predatory step toward Kaleb, my hands curling into fists as the dams within me completely burst. The words spilled out of me in a frantic torrent, a desperate cascade fueled by the shattering of my reality.
"Tell me what is going on! Everything—every single thing I thought I knew was a lie! Every truth is a secret so twisted, so beyond any horrific possibility I could have ever fabricated in my head, that it's driving me insane!"
I pressed my heels into the stone floor, feeling as though the very foundation of my existence was dissolving into quicksand. I was sinking into a paralyzing existential crisis, drowning in the realization that my life was nothing more than a plaything for cosmic forces.
