My soul splintered. It wasn't the fragile thread of my human sanity, nor was it the calculating, frozen order of the goddess residing in my mind. It was something familiar, darker and entirely my own.
The sorrow in my chest curdled into an absolute, blinding inferno of rage.
My body shifted, violently tearing itself apart and remade itself in a singular, agonizing second. Bones cracked and elongated with the sound of snapping wood, muscle fibers ripping and multiplying under my skin as the wolf took over. The transformation was a visceral, bloody upheaval, fueled by the cacophony of wrath and frustration whirling inside me.
Before the blonde leader could even retract her crimson-stained claws, I threw my head back.
I let out a howl.
