Chapter 1 - VEER FIND HIS POWERS

A boy named Veer was studying on his laptop. "No matter how much I study, I just can't seem to get this right," he thought. He went up to the terrace. Veer was a six-foot-tall guy with a fair complexion—a solid 7 out of 10 in looks—though he had dark circles under his eyes. The weather was turning; the clouds were dark, and a gentle breeze was blowing—neither too strong nor too weak. Looking at the clouds, Veer thought to himself, "The weather outside is so pleasant." Nearby, other kids his age were having fun together; seeing them made Veer feel a bit down. A girl named Kashish lived next door (she had a darker complexion and was about a 5 out of 10 in looks). As soon as she stepped out and started talking to the others, she glanced up and spotted Veer on the terrace; he quickly stepped aside so she wouldn't see him. Veer came down the stairs and went back to studying on his laptop. Eventually, he closed the study app (PW) and started watching YouTube videos instead, wondering, "How long will I keep running away from my fears?" Before bed, he brushed his teeth and went to sleep. However, unable to fall asleep, he decided to go up to the terrace for the night. He told his mother, "Mom, I'm going to sleep on the terrace," and headed up with his pillow and blanket. He went over, placed his blanket and pillow there, lay down, and gazed at the stars. He thought to himself, "How beautiful these stars are; the weather is so pleasant. If only I could live a good life, too." He drifted off to sleep, and a strange thing happened in his dream: he was in the mountains playing catch with his friends—they would throw the ball and he would catch it, then he would throw it and they would catch it. Suddenly, the space around them tore open; a zigzagging object emerged, and it did something that turned everything black. Veer was stunned by what he saw, for the object didn't belong to this universe at all (after all, when we imagine things, we usually construct them using elements from our own universe). A voice echoed in his mind: "You have fifteen minutes; whatever seven wishes you have will be granted." Veer asked for immortality that remained under his control, limitless teleportation, and an indestructible body. Then, he woke up. He tried to recall what had happened in the dream; he racked his brain and remembered a strange entity appearing and offering to grant seven wishes. He also recalled the absurd things he had asked for: immortality, teleportation, and an indestructible body. He was chuckling to himself. Veer woke up in the morning, brushed his teeth, and went up to the terrace to exercise. Coming from a lower-middle-class family, he owned only a pair of dumbbells; lacking a dedicated workout room, he did his exercises on the terrace. When he lifted the dumbbells, he didn't feel any weight at all. He did push-ups, yet faced no strain. Veer was astonished—how could this be? How had he gained such power? Then, he remembered the dream. He wondered how such a thing was possible. He tried to teleport and succeeded in teleporting five meter into the Flore . Wondering how this could happen, he glanced around to see if anyone had noticed. Veer waited for nightfall, then told his mother he was going upstairs to sleep. Once upstairs, he Googled whether it was possible for someone to acquire such powers. The search results indicated that it wasn't possible. He thought to himself, "I had asked for three powers there, but I can't remember what happened next." He tried hard to recall, but nothing came to mind. He searched on Google for ways to remember dreams and found that one needs... He can't remember the dreams; there's nothing he can do about that. Veer wonders to himself: "If the world finds out I have powers like this, it will be shaken to its core. Scientists would come after me. And I have no idea what other four wishes I made in that dream." He decides to experiment. He tries to conjure an apple, but nothing happens. He attempts to shoot fire from his hand, but again, nothing occurs. He realizes it will take a long time to discover the full extent of his powers. Even after two hours, he still cannot recall what he had wished for in the dream. He then grabs a knife and tries to cut his hand; he succeeds in making a cut, but the wound heals instantly on its own, and he feels no pain. Veer muses, "So, my powers are related to healing or pain." Curious about the limits of this ability, he inflicts a deep cut on his hand, yet he feels no pain, and the wound heals immediately. Seeing the blood makes him feel a bit strange; he realizes there is a vast difference between seeing blood in movies and seeing it in real life. He then wonders what his teleportation power might be like and imagines himself... Let me walk upon the sea. Suddenly, he finds himself falling through the air. He shouts, "Fly! Fly!"—but realizes he doesn't actually possess the power of flight. He plummets toward the vast, desolate ocean in the dead of night. As he sinks—unable to swim—he is surprised to find that he faces no trouble breathing underwater. He has no idea where he is, and panic sets in; the terrifying darkness of the open sea, with nothing visible but water, leaves him petrified. It is a truly frightening experience to fall into the ocean at night, completely alone. He visualizes his home and instantly teleports there. He resolves never to use his powers so recklessly again, promising to be more thoughtful in the future. Checking his back, he finds that despite the massive fall, he is uninjured—though his shirt is torn.
