Chapter 56 - Chapter 53 : Two souls

The news of Arin's "Logistical Proposal" spread through the Higher Academy faster than a high-frequency Ribbon pulse.

Arin didn't believe in rumors or subtlety.

The very next morning, he walked into the Tactical Command Center, stood beside Lyra's Admiral chair in front of the entire elite class, and placed a hand firmly on the back of her seat.

"From today," Arin announced, his voice echoing with the weight of a Sovereign decree, "Admiral Lyra is under the protection of the Vyron Anchor. I will be watching her—and her fleet—personally. Adjust your protocols accordingly."

Lyra, usually the ice-cold Queen of the fleet, nearly dropped her digital stylus, her face flushing a brilliant pink.

But she didn't disagree.

She just leaned back, a small, triumphant smirk playing on her lips as the rest of the cadets realized the "Binary Suns" had finally merged.

The Library and the Reach

Despite being the "Commander Queen," Lyra was still physically smaller than the towering Mecha pilots.

One afternoon in the Grand Archive, she was hunting for an ancient text on Neutronium Alloying—a book placed on a shelf designed for the tallest high-tier cultivators.

She was on her tiptoes, her fingers brushing the spine of the heavy, leather-bound manual.

Her Ribbons were suppressed by the library's damping field, leaving her frustrated and reaching.

Suddenly, a wall of warmth pressed against her back.

Arin had stepped up behind her, his chest practically touching her shoulder blades.

Without a word, he reached over her head, his long arm easily sliding the book from the shelf.

Lyra froze, the scent of his skin—faintly metallic and clean—filling her senses.

For a moment, she forgot about the book.

She could feel the steady, powerful thrum of his Loom vibrating through his chest against her back.

He didn't pull away immediately.

He leaned down, his breath tickling her ear as he handed her the volume.

"You spend too much time in the clouds, Admiral. Sometimes you need a grounded Anchor to reach the high places."

Lyra took the book, her heart hammering a rhythm that no fleet tactic could solve.

"I... I had it under control, Arin."

"I know," he murmured, a rare, playful glint in his blue eyes. "But I like the view from here."

The Forge of Two Souls

Their relationship wasn't just about soft moments; it was a revolution of technology.

They spent their nights in Arin's private foundry.

Lyra sat on the workbench, her holographic screens displaying complex molecular simulations, while Arin stood at the forge, his muscles rippling under the glow of the plasma fire.

"The molecular lattice of the Level-X plate is too rigid, Arin," Lyra noted, her fingers dancing through a data-mesh.

"If you infuse it with a Liquid Ribbon Core, it won't just block the Orc's kinetic energy—it will absorb it."

Arin wiped the sweat from his brow with a soot-stained forearm.

"If I do that, the material will become unstable during a high-speed warp. I need a way to lock the atoms in place."

"Use the Combined Sync," Lyra suggested, hopping down and walking over to him.

"My battleship's AI can act as the external processor, and your Mecha's Loom can act as the heart. We don't just upgrade the armor... we make the Mecha and the Frigate part of the same soul."

It was a breakthrough.

Using Arin's blacksmithing genius to refine the physical metals and Lyra's "Brain" to weave the digital and spiritual strands, they created the first Sovereign Link system.

The Black-Specter Mecha could now physically lock into Lyra's Command Frigate, turning the ship into a massive, armored exoskeleton for Arin's Mecha.

It was a fusion of Man, Machine, and Magic that the UCC had never seen.

As they stood together in the cooling glow of the forge, looking at the blueprint of their combined future, Arin reached out and took Lyra's oil-stained hand in his.

"We aren't just a couple, Lyra," he said, looking at the "Cold Queen" who was now his partner in every sense.

"We're the new architecture of the universe."

Lyra squeezed his hand back, her eyes reflecting the glowing metal.

"Then let's make sure the universe is ready for us. And next time I'm stranded, I'll make sure your fleet is there to pick me up again."
