Chapter 67 - Chapter 64 : The Mechanical Shadow of the Fabric

The recovery period after the Neural Limit Threshold Test was cut short by a sudden, urgent summons.

Kaelen and Mina were led not to the headmaster's grand hall, but to the private, high-security office of Professor Vane.

The atmosphere inside was stifling, thick with a pressure that made the very air feel like cooling lead.

Vane, a composed veteran of Level 300+, stood rigidly at attention with his back as straight and unyielding as a spear.

His eyes were fixed with unwavering discipline on a woman sitting in his guest chair, casually sipping tea as if the tension didn't exist.

Mina took a single step into the room and froze, her breath hitching as her pupils dilated in a flash of primal terror.

Unlike Kaelen, whose AI Redveil was actively filtering the sensory input to protect his heart, Mina felt the unadulterated truth of the woman before them.

This was Grandmother Elara, a being who had ascended to the status of a Fabric-Level Entity.

Looming behind her was a presence so gargantuan it seemed to phase through the physical walls of the Academy itself.

It was a Fabric-Level Construct: a horrifyingly beautiful fusion of shimmering energy-fabric and the cold geometry of celestial-scale war machines.

Behind her stood the war machine—a towering crimson titan armored in thick plates that hid pulsing, god-like machinery beneath.

Blade-like wings extended from its back, whispering streams of heat into the air through intricate vents, while a glowing ring rotated above its sensor head.

In its massive grip rested a polearm that hummed with restrained power, scanning the surroundings with a cold, binary precision.

This construct possessed its own independent consciousness—a subconscious protector born from a high-level AI merged during her Armor Phase.

"Professor Vane," Elara said, her voice sounding like the chime of flawless crystal. "You've kept my grandson in good health. At least, physically."

Vane bowed low, a sheen of cold sweat breaking across his brow. "Commander Elara... it is an honor to serve under your shadow again."

The realization hit Kaelen and Mina like a shockwave: one of the Academy's strongest teachers was merely a former subordinate to this woman.

Elara turned her gaze toward Kaelen, seeing him not as a boy, but as a complex map of vibrating, high-density neural threads.

She saw the dark, jagged stain of the Level 500+ Will clawing at his neurons like a parasite.

"The UCC was foolish to probe you, Kaelen," she said, her tone turning as icy as the void. "They poked a sleeping predator."

She produced a vial of Glacial Essence, a liquid that shimmered with the terrifying blue of an absolute zero star-core.

The vial floated through the air, carried by a single, microscopic strand of her Fabric, until it reached Kaelen's hand.

"Drink," she commanded. "This is a temporary stabilizer to coat your nerves and cool the friction between your mind and that Will."

Kaelen downed the liquid, and an instant wave of absolute zero washed through his brain, encasing the screaming heat of the Will in a frozen tomb.

Mina finally found her voice, offering a shaky, respectful bow. "H-hello, Grandmother Elara... It is an honor to meet Kaelen's family."

Elara's gaze softened, and the terrifying hum of the mechanical titan behind her dipped into a low, appreciative purr.

She reached out a delicate, human hand that felt like the touch of a star and gently ruffled Mina's hair with unexpected warmth.

"Such a brave little girl," Elara murmured, sending a stabilizing ripple through Mina's nervous system that instantly halted her tremors.

"To stand before the Fabric and keep your manners... you have the heart of a true powerhouse."

Mina exhaled a breath she hadn't realized she was holding, looking into eyes that had witnessed the birth and death of suns.

"You... you feel like the universe itself is sitting in this chair," Mina whispered in awe.

Elara offered a gentle smile. "I am a Fabric, child. I am a weaver of reality."

She leaned toward Kaelen, and he felt the sheer scale of the independent mechanical consciousness—a fortress of cold, binary logic.

"I have buried your test results," Elara continued. "The UCC thinks you are just a high-potential fluke."

"But the Mechanical Vanguard Academy knows the truth; they specialize in students who carry the 'Weight of the Void.'"

She stood up, and the mechanical-fabric titan shifted, causing the lights to flicker and the air to hum with static electricity.

"Master the Strand Phase well, Kaelen," she said as a final piece of advice.

With a silent fold of space, she vanished, taking the crushing weight and the mechanical god with her.

Mina gasped for air while Professor Vane finally exhaled a breath he seemed to have been holding for an eternity.
