Chapter 15 - The Trial of Divided Stars

The chamber doors sealed.

Not loudly.

Not dramatically.

They simply ceased to exist.

The marble walls became seamless.

Unbreakable.

The six candidates stood beneath the shifting constellations, the silence stretching thinner with each second.

Then the stars rearranged.

Lines connected between them, forming two intersecting triangles.

A voice echoed — not from above, not from anywhere specific.

From everywhere.

"Six candidates detected."

The air vibrated.

"Alignment test initiated."

The floor beneath them split.

Not physically — but visually.

A line of pale light carved the chamber in half.

Three on one side.

Three on the other.

Nova stepped instinctively toward Souro.

Selene followed.

Albert did not move.

Across the divide, Yuna, Helia, and Haru stood together.

The light solidified.

Invisible pressure locked them in place.

The voice spoke again.

"Two teams will be formed."

"Victory condition: Prove superiority."

"Failure condition: Elimination of one candidate."

Nova's breath caught.

"Elimination?"

Helia's smile faded slightly for the first time.

Yuna's expression remained composed.

Haru's eyes darkened.

"So the tower wants conflict," he murmured.

Albert's golden aura flared softly.

"Or cooperation."

Souro glanced at him.

Albert stepped forward — toward the dividing light.

"Negotiation," he said simply.

The pressure eased slightly.

The voice did not object.

Yuna stepped forward as well.

Their eyes met across the divide.

"No pointless fighting," Yuna said calmly. "We conserve strength."

Haru added, "The tower feeds on desperation. We don't give it that."

Nova crossed her arms. "Easy to say when the rule says someone might die."

The stars shifted again.

A massive sigil formed overhead.

The chamber darkened.

"Hidden condition revealed."

The voice echoed colder now.

"Victory may also be achieved through synchronization."

The dividing line flickered.

Selene felt something tug inside her chest.

Souro's crescent mark burned faintly.

Albert's aura sharpened.

Helia's armor began glowing.

Haru's shadow lengthened unnaturally across the marble.

Nova blinked.

"…Okay. That's new."

Yuna's eyes narrowed slightly.

"They want resonance."

Suddenly, the floor transformed.

The chamber dissolved.

The six were transported instantly.

They stood now on floating platforms suspended in a void of moving constellations.

Between the two teams floated a massive crystalline sphere.

Half golden.

Half silver.

Cracked down the middle.

Souro inhaled sharply.

It resembled the sky.

The voice returned.

"Synchronize your authority."

"Dominate the core."

"Failure to balance will result in collapse."

The sphere began absorbing light.

Its cracks widened.

Albert stepped forward first.

Golden light surged from him into the sphere.

Helia responded instinctively, her radiant aura flowing outward in harmony.

The golden half stabilized slightly.

On Souro's side, his crescent mark pulsed violently.

Shadows rose around him.

Selene placed her hand lightly on his arm.

The silver half glowed brighter.

But it wasn't enough.

The sphere trembled violently.

Haru suddenly stepped forward.

His relaxed posture vanished.

Dark mist bled from beneath his feet.

Not shadow like Souro's.

Not solar like Albert's.

Something in between.

"Hidden Class Activated."

The words were not spoken by the system.

They were spoken by him.

His eyes shimmered faintly with star-like light.

"Starseer Warden."

The constellations above froze.

Lines of starlight connected from the ceiling to him directly.

The floating platforms steadied.

The sphere stopped cracking.

Nova stared.

"You were hiding that?"

Haru didn't look at her.

"I was waiting."

Yuna exhaled softly. "So that's why the stars reacted earlier."

Helia smiled faintly again. "Now it's interesting."

The sphere began pulling power from all three authorities.

Sun.

Moon.

Stars.

But imbalance still lingered.

The silver side flared violently.

Souro gasped as instability shot through his wrist again.

14%.

The crack widened.

The sphere trembled.

"Souro!" Nova shouted.

Albert moved without hesitation.

He placed his hand over the sphere's golden side — then looked at Souro.

"For once," he said calmly, "don't resist."

Souro met his eyes.

Then nodded.

Solar light and lunar shadow flowed simultaneously into the core.

Haru lifted his hand.

Starlight descended like threads, weaving between gold and silver.

Selene stepped forward.

The broken moon above pulsed.

Her silver aura connected to Souro's energy — stabilizing it.

Yuna placed her palm on the sphere.

Her blade glowed faintly — channeling controlled precision.

Helia extended her radiant aura, reinforcing Albert's solar output.

All six connected.

The cracks stopped spreading.

The golden and silver halves began merging.

Light bent inward.

The sphere stabilized.

Then it shattered—

Not from collapse.

From completion.

A wave of balanced energy swept across the void.

The platforms reformed into solid ground.

The chamber returned.

The dividing line disappeared.

The voice echoed once more.

"Synchronization achieved."

"No elimination required."

"Floor 3 cleared."

Silence followed.

The stars resumed their slow motion.

Souro exhaled slowly.

Albert withdrew his hand.

Haru's starlight faded.

Nova wiped sweat from her brow.

Yuna gave a small nod.

Helia stretched lightly as if finishing a warm-up.

The tower had tested them.

Not strength.

Compatibility.

Above them, beyond visible space—

The observing presence stirred.

Interest deepened.

Six irregular candidates.

Three authorities aligned.

This was no longer coincidence.

It was convergence.

The chamber doors reappeared.

Leading upward.

Floor 4 awaited.

And this time—

The tower would not test them gently.
