Chapter 2 - The Breaking Point Before the Blessing

A few weeks later, Chioma began to notice changes in her body. Her shape was different, and deep inside her heart, she suspected something — she might be pregnant.

But she kept it to herself.

She didn't want to tell Emeka too soon. She was afraid that if they rejoiced early, something might happen and she could lose the baby. So quietly, she went to the hospital to confirm.

At the hospital, she explained everything to the doctor. After the necessary tests and scans, the doctor smiled.

"It's true," he said gently. "You are pregnant… and it's a baby boy."

Chioma's heart overflowed with joy.

When she got home, she couldn't hold the excitement anymore. She rushed to Emeka and shared the good news. As they were talking happily, suddenly Chioma screamed:

"Help! Help! Help!"

Emeka ran outside to call for help. By the time he returned, Sochi had already taken Chioma to the nearby hospital.

After hours of tension and prayers, the baby was born safely.

It was a boy.

They named him Isaac, meaning "Laughter" — because he brought joy after long waiting and many tears.

Isaac was dark in complexion and very slim at birth, but to them he was more precious than gold. They treated him like a golden treasure, because he was the answer to their prayers.

However, not everyone was happy.

Sochi and her son became jealous of Isaac. Seeing how much love and attention he received, envy grew in their hearts. Quietly, they began to plan how they might remove the child of Don Emeka from the picture.

But their first attempt failed.

Isaac fought bravely like a young lion. When Chioma noticed danger surrounding her son, she stood firm to protect him. She even sent a strong warning message to Sochi, telling her to stay away from her family.

Soon after, Emeka had to travel to China for business. On the day he was leaving for the airport, the whole family gathered together.

They prayed for his safe journey.

Chioma held Isaac tightly in her arms, not knowing that greater battles were still ahead…
