Chapter 7 - Chapter 7: Determination

Conan begins asking in an excited manner. "I want to know! Speak!"

Kaelhor laughs. "Then you must first become worthy of it! Do not think I will reveal all secrets to you so easily!"

Conan becomes angry. "Then keep your useless nightmares to yourself. Do not disturb me!"

At that moment, Victor's voice is heard from inside. "My friend, I repaired the door. It is ready."

Conan enters inside. He takes his sword and armor. They begin walking together in the streets.

After wandering for a while, Conan begins speaking. "Victor, we have no serious business left here. It is time to go to Ardin."

Victor frowns and speaks with disappointment. "My friend. We will join the training of that sadistic old man again!"

Conan replies. "I was not joking when I said we would begin training yesterday."

Victor replies. "I thought after yesterday's suffering, you would change your mind."

Conan replies. "Such a thing will never happen! If necessary, I will die in that old man's hands, but I will never be humiliated before filthy people."

Kaelhor laughs and speaks. "You are slowly beginning to resemble me, human...ha..ha..ha..ha..."

Victor speaks in a disappointed state. "That blond self-admiring dog will receive the title of hero, will enjoy with strong and beautiful girls, will be loved by princesses, and will receive training from famous generals. But we will be mercilessly beaten every day by a sadistic old man? Where is the justice of this world..."

Conan smiles. "Stop whining like a child. Move. We are going to Ardin."

Victor complains along the way and goes with Conan to Ardin's house.

Finally, they reach the house. They knock on the door, and Bren lets them inside.

Ardin looks at the two and smiles. "Honestly, I did not expect you to come again."

He turns his back and tells them to follow him.

Victor approaches Conan and quietly says. "My friend, this sadistic old man deliberately beat us yesterday."

Conan replies. "Be quiet, he will hear now."

They enter the hall. Both of them remove their swords and armor.

Victor begins speaking. "Go ahead, Master, which one of us will you begin with. We are ready."

Ardin laughs and replies. "We are not fighting today."

Victor's eyes shine. "Finally, we will begin real training. I have always said Master Ardin is the best teacher."

A smile appears on Conan's face as well.

"Master, then what will we begin with."

Ardin looks at the two and laughs again. "Do not become so excited. The real difficulties have not begun yet. But do not worry. I will first put you through weak, then strong training."

Victor proudly replies. "It does not matter, Master, we will endure every difficulty."

Ardin replies. "Very well, since you are ready, let us begin. The inside of these bags you see is filled with stone. Each weighs 100 kg. You will hold these bags in your arms and complete 1000 full laps of this hall. Only after you succeed in this will we move to the next stage."

Victor, who was standing ready with rolled sleeves, freezes with his mouth open when he hears these words.

Conan replies. "Master, does this have any direct connection with combat training?"

Victor replies. "Master, 1000 laps? How could this be possible!?"

Ardin replies. "What happened, are you surrendering already? You, Victor, when you grabbed my waist and attacked, I thought this exercise would not be a serious problem for you. And you, Conan, say carrying one bag is impossible and even imply you cannot do it, yet you proudly say your enemy is a hero? How will someone who cannot carry one bag fight a hero?"

Conan proudly lifts the bag into his arms and says. "I did not say such a thing. I am ready for any heavy training!"

Victor seriously lifts the other bag into his arms. "Be ready, Master, after these bags, it will be your turn."

Ardin begins laughing. "Ha...ha..ha..ha... Then show what you are capable of."

In this way, Conan and Victor spend the entire day performing this training in blood and sweat.

At the end of the day, Conan manages only 500 laps with breaks, and Victor manages 300 laps.

Ardin speaks. "Actually, I was not hopeful at all. But you approximately completed half. This is a good result. I congratulate both of you. Tomorrow we will continue from where we left off."

Conan and Victor reach their homes by holding onto each other and the walls.

Conan lies on the bed without removing his sword and armor.

Kaelhor speaks. "Actually, everything is very easy, human. You can obtain power easily. But you throw yourself into such hardships."

Conan does not even have the strength to respond to Kaelhor and falls asleep as he lies down.

After that, Conan and Victor spend the next 3 days only completing laps like this.

Finally, both of them complete the laps. They look at each other happily.

Ardin smiles and looks at both of them. "It is too early to rejoice. This was the simplest exercise. Prepare for the next exercises. Let us see how durable you are."

In the next 10 days, they face Ardin's different trainings. Each training is more difficult and more painful than the previous one.

The most interesting part was that none of these were for fighting, but for endurance.

20 days of training are completed.

Ardin informs them that tomorrow they will rest.

Conan and Victor's eyes shine.

Both of them walk toward home in the street.

Victor speaks. "Conan, does it not seem to you that we have truly been punished? It would have been better to do menial foot duties than this."

Conan replies. "My friend, but at least our endurance has increased. Even though the fighting part interests me more. I am waiting for when we will reach that part."

Victor replies. "The important thing is tomorrow we will not be tortured by a sadistic old man. Tomorrow is rest. Let us go outside and have some fun. I will even find a beautiful girl for you."

Conan replies. "Victor, close this topic."

Victor replies. "No, my friend. Seeing you miserable disturbs me. The best way to forget one beauty is to find a more beautiful one. That is all."

Conan replies. "Is this your philosophy, or did you hear it somewhere?"

Victor laughs. "My friend, every day I am subjected to demonic torture by an old man because of you. Now you will pursue entertainment because of me! Do not make such a sour face."

Conan smiles. "Alright, my friend. Tomorrow is our rest anyway. We will do whatever you say."

Victor replies. "Very good. Good night. We will meet tomorrow."

Both of them say goodbye and separate.

The next day... Royal Palace.

Elena begins preparing in her room. Laura also prepares together with her.

At that moment, Laura calls out to Elena. "My princess, I think we are not doing the right thing. At least it would be better if we took guards with us."

Elena replies. "Laura, we already spoke. I must go there today. As a princess, I do not want to see myself as just a decorative object in the palace."

Laura replies. "My princess, I understand you. But the place we want to go is the back alleys. Even experienced warriors have been injured there. Moreover, someone might recognize you there."

Elena puts on her pink wig and says. "Do not worry, Laura. I will enter there in disguise. Look, no one will ever understand who I am."

Laura replies worriedly. "Even if you disguise yourself, why would a princess desire to enter the back alleys!?"

Elena holds Laura's hands. "Laura, I am a princess and the future of the kingdom. I must witness with my own eyes what kind of place those areas are. Perhaps nothing is as we think. Everything is completely different. Why would such streets exist in the center of Celaria!"

Laura replies. "But still, it is not good for us to go there alone like this."

Elena replies. "You are going with me. There is no need for others. At least think of this as an adventure."

Elena and Laura escape from the palace in servant clothes and go to the back alleys.

They begin walking in the streets.

Finally, they arrive at the market located there.

They begin walking while looking at the stalls.

At that moment, Conan, with his right hand extended on his face in a disappointed manner, and Victor, with both hands behind his neck in a self-satisfied manner, walk in the market.

Conan speaks. "Victor, today was our rest day, I think."

Victor replies. "Yes. Today is our rest day. Why are you disappointed?"

Conan replies angrily. "Why do you think I am disappointed? You said we would have fun, but now instead of being in a tavern or somewhere else, we are walking like idiots in the market. Rather than wasting time like this, we would have gone to Ardin for training."

Victor straightens his posture and replies uneasily. "My friend, today there is no tavern or other place. The reason we came here is to find a girl for you. Also, that sadistic old man said there would be no training today."

Conan replies. "What!? Since when is the market used for this purpose? Or are girls displayed on stalls, and I do not know!?"

Victor laughs. "My friend, how foolish you are. The beautiful servants of noble families always come to the market for the needs of the mansion. Since we are warriors of the brave guard unit, which girl would say no to us?"

Conan again places his right hand on his head. "My friend, why would the servants of noble families come to the back alley market!?"

Victor replies. "Because the products here are better and cheaper. Anyway, do not fall into despair."

At that moment, Victor sees two servants in front of them looking at a stall.

Victor speaks. "You see, my friend, what did I tell you."
