Sebastian burst into the room with enough force to make the door slam against the wall. The sound echoed through the chamber, loud and sudden, but Zaia did not so much as flinch.
She was seated in a high-backed chair near the window, her leg propped up on a low stool. The doctor was bent over her, carefully tending to a deep, ugly wound that ran across her outer thigh. The flesh around it was torn and angry, the bleeding only just beginning to slow. Zaia, however, looked perfectly at ease. She barely even glanced up when Sebastian stormed in.
"What did you do?" he demanded, his voice hard as stone.
"Good morning to you too, brother." Her voice was light, almost pleasant. The doctor continued to work, his hands steady despite the tension in the room. "Or should I call you Seb? Or distant cousin?" She let out a short, derisive snort. "Such a stupid name you chose."
Sebastian's jaw tightened. "Answer me."
