Chapter 8 - I Really Miss You All

"Hmph. Power levels: 960, 981, 1,220, 1,083!" Nappa quickly read the numbers from his scouter. "What a bunch of idiots! With power this low, you think you can fight us? And you, Kakarot—you're the shame of all Saiyans! You've got the lowest power level in the group!"

Goku merely smiled faintly and didn't bother to argue.

"Nappa, take off your scouter," Vegeta said, removing his own.

"Why?" Nappa asked, confused.

"These guys' power levels can change during battle. Those numbers are unreliable," Vegeta replied, tossing his scouter to the ground.

"You're right! Trash like Raditz trusted his scouter and got careless—that's why he lost!" Nappa laughed.

"Trash… Raditz…" Piccolo was stunned.

"Raditz was someone you and Goku barely managed to defeat together," Krillin said helplessly.

"Aren't there three more helpers? How long are they going to take?" Nappa asked with interest.

"They'll be here soon," Goku replied.

"Nappa, you still have six Saibamen seeds, right?" Vegeta said with a smile. "There are seven of them in total. Kakarot is mine. The other six—let each Saibaman handle one."

"Hehehe! Didn't know you liked games too, Vegeta!" Nappa grinned.

He pulled out a small bottle, jabbed his finger into the ground, and poked six holes.

Then he dropped six seeds in and poured nutrient fluid over them.

Within seconds—

Six cabbage-like creatures burst out of the ground, letting out sinister laughs.

"They're so gross…" Krillin grimaced.

"So these are Saibamen?" Goku said, seeing them for the first time.

"Still no sign of your other friends?" Nappa smirked.

Just then, Tien, Chiaotzu, and Yamcha descended from the sky and landed beside Goku.

"Goku, you're here early!" Yamcha said excitedly.

"Yamcha, Tien, Chiaotzu… long time no see," Goku said emotionally.

In the GT timeline, he really hadn't seen them in a long time.

Especially Tien and Chiaotzu…

After Majin Buu, it was rare to ever meet them again.

"I really missed you guys," Goku sighed deeply.

"Yeah! The last time we parted was at the 22nd World Martial Arts Tournament, right?" Yamcha laughed.

"That's right," Tien nodded.

"Mhm," Chiaotzu agreed softly.

"Time really flies. In the blink of an eye, it's been six—"

"Are those the Saiyans?" Tien turned to look at Vegeta, Nappa, and the Saibamen.

"The other six are their helpers," Krillin said with a grin. "Haha, with Goku here, I feel a lot more at ease."

"Yeah…" Yamcha smiled.

"You three are late, so let me explain the rules," Vegeta said calmly. "I've got six Saibamen here. You six—excluding Kakarot—each fight one. How about it?"

"Let's play a game."

"A game? You bastards!" Piccolo snapped. "Stop messing around and fight seriously!"

"Haha, Vegeta, I didn't know you had this side," Goku suddenly laughed.

Vegeta: "..."

What's that supposed to mean?

"Goku, what do you think? Are we really playing along?" Krillin asked nervously.

"Sure. Let's play," Goku nodded. "It's a good chance to see how much you've improved."

But his expression grew slightly serious.

If I remember right, in this battle, only Yamcha was killed by these things…

As long as I keep an eye on Yamcha, nothing bad should happen.

"I'll go first," Tien stepped forward. "Let me show you my results."

"Hahaha! If you knew how strong Saibamen are, you'd be scared to death!" Nappa laughed loudly.

"Start with him. Fight properly," Vegeta ordered the leading Saibaman.

"Tien, you've got this!" Goku cheered.

"Go, Tien!" Chiaotzu added.

"Alright!" Tien walked toward his opponent.

Goku crossed his arms and watched calmly.

The reason he didn't immediately defeat Vegeta and Nappa was simple—

He truly missed this time with his friends.

In the future GT timeline, he saw them less and less.

Aside from Vegeta and Piccolo, he rarely met the others.

Even Krillin was someone he seldom saw.

And after the Baby incident, Piccolo had sacrificed his life.

Now—

Tien and the Saibaman stood facing each other.

The fight began instantly.

"Haa!" The Saibaman roared and lunged forward.

Tien swung his arm and struck it with his palm.

The Saibaman was blasted backward.

Tien pursued, ready to finish it off.

But the moment it hit the ground, its head split open, spraying a strange, brain-like liquid.

Tien instinctively dodged.

The slime splashed onto the ground, corroding it into a deep pit.

Krillin and Chiaotzu turned pale in fear.

"That's nasty… what is that stuff?" Goku muttered in amazement.

"Goku… don't you think what came out of its head is kinda weird?" Krillin wiped his sweat.

"Weird how?" Goku blinked.

"It looks kinda like…" Krillin trailed off.

"I was thinking the same," Yamcha nodded thoughtfully.

"What are you guys talking about?" Goku asked, confused.

"Hey!"

Tien rushed in and drove his elbow into the Saibaman's head.

The creature's body convulsed violently before collapsing.

"What the—?" Nappa muttered in surprise.

"That was awesome, Tien! Just like always!" Goku praised, giving him a thumbs-up.

"Yeah… time really flies," Yamcha sighed. "Goku's kid is already this big."

"Hahaha, yeah." Goku laughed. "I really miss the days when we fought side by side."
