Chapter 3 - chapter 2

Time turned, and the third day quickly arrived.

In the morning sunlight shining on the vast, boundless land, truck after truck stopped at the village entrance, and our three protagonists had also arrived.

"Nobunaga, you only brought this little stuff?" Menyan said as he looked at a simple backpack.

I only brought some changes of clothes, and a few books. After all, unlike Stone, I still have to bring Geodude's rations.

After hearing this, the burly boy gave a wry smile. "Geodude eats only top-grade rocks. If I don't carry them, I can't just let him go hungry."

Nobunaga said, "I heard the Hoenn League invented something called energy cubes. They're very light, can be carried with you, and are also nutritious."

"Ah, I've never even heard of it. But if there really is such a thing, I definitely have to buy it. Geodude's food is really too heavy."

As the words fell, the two boys beside them burst into loud laughter.

One of the boys even patted Stone on the shoulder and said, "Isn't this also a way to train? Otherwise how would you be so big."

Stone was just about to reply.

At this time, a big man in the distance shouted, "Nobunaga, we should set off!"

Nobunaga immediately answered, "Coming, coming!" Pulling along the two little companions beside him, he ran over.

The big man Lizhu said to the three boys he had watched grow up, "You'll sit in the middle truck. Don't run around on the road. If you run into Wild Pokémon, you also mustn't casually get close."

"I really don't know what's so good about the city, that it attracts you young guys so much. If you ask me, staying in the village's quarry, saving some money, and marrying a wife is the proper business."

The boy Nobunaga didn't talk back, only nodded obediently. After all, Brother Lizhu had watched them grow up since they were little, and he was only saying a few words to them out of good intentions.

Before long, the trucks began to start up one after another. And the truck Nobunaga and the others were in also set off.

Time came to noon, and the trucks all stopped to rest, and the drivers on the trucks all got down to eat lunch.

The three boys sat around beside the truck, eating and chatting.

"Along this whole way we didn't even run into Pokémon, so why did the people in the village all say the wilderness is very dangerous before?" Menyan said.

The big man Lizhu happened to pass by. After hearing Menyan's words, he said with a serious face:

"You think there's no danger because more than ten of our trucks are traveling together, and the wild Pokémon don't dare come close, that's all."

"If it were one or two people walking to Pewter City, these Pokémon on the road aren't vegetarians. And walking means you have to stay one night in the wild—think how dangerous that is!"

Menyan hurriedly apologized to the big man. "Brother Lizhu, I was wrong."

Lizhu said, "It's your first time leaving the village, you don't understand, so I have to make it clear to you, so that you three brats won't end up with bumps all over your heads in the future, and lose your lives."

After eating lunch, the convoy continued driving. On the left was Viridian Forest, on the right was Mt. Moon. Along the way there were mountains and water, and the scenery was also very beautiful.

Perhaps it was just that the heavens were not cooperative; the vehicles ahead soon stopped.

The big man Lizhu hurriedly got out of the vehicle to check. It turned out that an Onix ahead was blocking the middle of the road, and Lizhu immediately walked forward.

Looking at the Onix blocking the middle of the road, he shouted loudly, "We'll leave one truck of white ore, and you move aside."

Onix actually seemed to understand, and moved to the roadside, looking at the white ore on the truck.

Lizhu also did not go back on his word. Leaving the white ore from one truck at the tail end of the convoy, he then had the convoy continue toward Pewter City.

After the truck drove for a stretch, Nobunaga saw nothing happened, and immediately asked the big man, "Why did we have to leave one truck of white ore for Onix?"

Lizhu said, "Haven't you thought about it? Seeing our convoy of more than ten trucks and still daring to block the road means this Onix isn't weak."

"Besides, if we start fighting with Onix and there are casualties, what then? After all, everyone here is from the same village; it's not good to hurt anyone. One truck of white ore avoided a fight; it's still worth it."

After hearing this, the boy Nobunaga seemed to realize something. Yes, for one truck of white ore to fight with Onix, perhaps there really would be deaths and injuries.

And in the battle, if the vehicles were damaged, then at night they would have to stay in the wild, and perhaps there would be even greater danger.

The rest of the journey was smooth. When the setting sun was sinking at dusk, the convoy arrived at Pewter City.

"Nobunaga, we've brought you to Pewter City. Where are you planning to stay overnight? If you don't have a place, you might as well stay with us for one night first."

Nobunaga hurriedly replied, "Yes, we still haven't found a place to stay. If possible, we'll stay here for one night."

"You three little bastards rode out on my truck. While you're in front of my eyes, I still have to take good care of you, otherwise when I go back the people in the village will say I did wrong."

Very quickly, after the truck unloaded the goods and finished the handover, the drivers went in groups of three or five to the food stalls nearby.

Lizhu also brought the three of Nobunaga to sit at a barbecue shop.

After eating and drinking their fill, the group of four came to the inn. "Tomorrow we'll drive back. You three should also rest early." Lizhu said.

Yes. After the three answered in unison, they went to wash up.

At night, Nobunaga lay on the bed. Thinking that they had already arrived at Pewter City, what would tomorrow be like? He also didn't know what this dark gray city would bring them.
