Chapter 22 - Chapter Twenty-Two

Meanwhile, Felix's car pulled up in front of a Korean barbecue restaurant. He headed upstairs to the private room that Michael had booked.

'How often do you eat here?' Felix asked, glancing around as he settled down.

'I wouldn't know; I've never been here. Robert picked the place randomly. Besides, I don't want to go to places where I might bump into Jessica,' Michael replied, looking graceful and handsome in a pure white Versace dress shirt.

Felix chuckled. 'That girl seems to be a persistent pest. Maybe she drinks too much liquor.' He paused for a moment before continuing, 'It will be difficult for her to let you go... I remember when we were children, whenever her parents brought her to your house, she would always tug onto your shirt, clinging to you like a leech... but you never liked it.'

'I have never liked her,' Michael frowned, the memory sparking a flicker of annoyance. He had already ordered barbecue dishes, knowing Felix's preferences, not waiting for his arrival before ordering the dishes.

'How is the company?' Felix asked as they began to eat.

'Everything's good,' Michael replied.

'Don't you want to find yourself a woman?' Felix prodded, a playful glint in his eyes.

'Actually,' Michael said, a genuine smile gracing his lips, his mind already drifting to thoughts of Chioma. 'I already have.'

Felix raised his brow. 'Really? All those girls throwing themselves at you, and yet none of them succeeded because you've decided to remain the oldest virgin on earth.'

Michael's smile remained. 'I said I found the one,' he repeated firmly.

'You know that if word got out that you're still a virgin, you would lose your dignity as a man. Is that why you're telling me this?' Felix continued to tease him. 'You don't want me to tell the paparazzi that you haven't had your first kiss?'

Michael glared at him. 'Shut up. Do you want me to beg you to keep it a secret? If you don't believe me, so be it. Besides, I never told you to rant nonsense.'

Felix chuckled and changed the subject. 'All right, all right,' he said, raising his hands in mock surrender. 'Tell me about her then. This mysterious woman who's captured the heart of the elusive Michael Njemanze. Is she drop-dead gorgeous?'

'Very beautiful,' replied Michael with a smile. His earlier frown softened, giving way to a genuine smile. He leaned back in his chair, the playful banter giving way to something more contemplative. 'She's a gift, truly,' he began, his voice taking on a softer tone. 'She's intelligent, kind, and has a laugh that can light up a room. She challenges me, makes me think, and...' He paused, searching for the right words. 'She makes me feel things I've never felt before.' Then he turned the question back to Felix. 'What about you?'

Felix sighed, a hint of a smile playing on his lips. 'I met a charming girl today. It was all Audrey's doing. I hope something good comes out of it.'

Michael nodded, genuinely happy for his cousin.

'Where is your girl from?' Felix asked, curiosity piqued.

'Imo State,' Michael answered, a possessive glint entering his eyes as he heard Felix refer to Chioma as 'your girl.' It warmed him to know she was his, and his alone.

'How did you meet her?' Felix pressed, unable to contain his inquisitiveness.

Michael's smile widened. 'Let's just say fate intervened,' he replied enigmatically. 'But that's a story for another time. Don't you want to join me at the company? My father has retired from the business. Or maybe you want to follow in your father's footsteps and become a politician?' Michael suggested to Felix.

'My father may be the Senate President of this country, but I am going to choose my own path,' Felix replied confidently. 'So, yes, I will join you at Moon Corporation as your vice.'

Michael smiled at his cousin. They were not only cousins but also best friends. They shared almost the same god-like features—handsome, tall, and voices that were extremely mesmerising, appealing to both boys and girls. Their voices alone could stir people's hearts. They seemed like descendants from the sun, radiating with charisma and charm.
